“I’m not that big into horse racing but some of the hats the ladies wear there are quite interesting. So have you traveled a lot then or have you mainly just stayed in town?” Aelish asked. “I’ve heard of bartenders throwing in a couple extra pieces of ice. Yeah. Honestly if it wasn’t for tourist a lot of businesses wouldn’t survive. I know tourist spend a lot more at my shop than locals do.”
Tumblr media
“Now a good hat I can get behind. But none of this over the top business, there’s no need for excessive accessories. I’ve traveled a bit. This is actually the first time in a very long time that I’ve stayed in town for a summer. Clearly.” She gestured at the bar, where she still had no drink waiting. “Oh? What is your shop? I mean what do you sell?”

“What? Not his type? Since when was paying customer not a bartender’s type?” He looked from the bartender back to her. “And you look like the type to over-tip.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, I am a paying customer! I don’t always get free drinks.” She pouted a little put off by the comment, she only didn’t pay when someone else offered. “So again, why no drink yet, hm?”

“Oh I wouldn’t say Louisville is that awful. They do have the Kentucky Derby every May and I’ve heard the museums there are pretty interesting. I might have to check it out one day when I actually go out and explore this country.” Maine and New York were the only states she’s ever been to. “Have you seen how much tourist tip though? There was a study once that said tourist tip $5 to $10 more than regulars.”
Tumblr media
“Hm I suppose the Kentucky Derby is an interesting thing about the place. I’m not really a museum type of girl, but if that’s your thing then...cool?” Addison smiled, trying to sound upbeat about it, but really museums were so boring to her. “They do? Do they get some extra’s we’re missing out on? If it takes an extra $10 to get extra ice I’ll pay it.”

“Staying in one place the whole year isn’t that bad especially in this town. There are a lot worse towns to be stuck in.” Aelish rolled her eyes, “That’s not the type of tips I was referring to. Many people depend on the money they receive in tips to survive. Without those types of tips many wouldn’t be able to pay their bills so I don’t blame them for catering to those they know tip big.”
Tumblr media
“This is true. I hear Louisville is awful any time of the year! I suppose Northpoint isn’t entirely the worst place.” In truth Addison was quite fond of Northpoint she just didn’t feel like sharing that fact with people very often. Much better they think she hated the place, less questions were asked. “I also tip in money thank you very much. It’s not my fault their tip goes down when they ignore me.”

aelish-visser:
“Well unfortunately some people don’t have the money to go on vacation and are stuck in Northpoint for the summer,” She pointed out with a shrug. “Sometimes regulars in a place don’t tip as much as others. I think the bartenders are catering to the people who might give them big tips.”
Tumblr media
Addison frowned a little, “Poor people. Having to stay in one place all year is so boring!” At the others comment her eyes opened a little wider in outrage, “I always tip generously! I even took one of them home once and he loved the tips I gave him then.”

Aelish looked at thewoman next to her, giving her small smile, “It’s the summer my dear. Most barsare packed this time of year. I’m sure once the fall rolls around again thingswill die down. Until then all we can do is put up with it.”
Tumblr media
“Surely there are better bars and places to be at in the summer then Northpoint,” she didn’t entirely mean for her words to come across as rude but Addison knew she would rather be in the Bahamas then here. “Shouldn’t their be a regulars vip treatment at least? I hate waiting.”

“I’m gonna hazard a guess and say that you’re the problem,” Wes said, lifting his own seltzer to indicate the ease with which he’d been served.
Tumblr media
Addison frowned at the boy, her eyes trailing from the drink in his hand up to his face, “No. I think I’m just not his type.”

“Why does it take so long to get served in this place these days,” the redhead grumbled as she stood on her tiptoes to try and attracted the bartenders attention.

colewinslow:
The kind associates at Life’s A Beach were all too happy to offer Cole some paper towels, and he was back, blinking into the sunlight, before too long - but it seemed that it had been long enough for the redhead to get herself acquainted with the dogs, all of which stared up at her adoringly. “‘right,” he drawled, thick as a Georgia afternoon, “I’ll trade ya these for those,” he said, as he took the leashes back and pressed the paper towels into her hand instead. “I am sorry,” he added, trying for something closer to sincerity than amusement, but maybe unable to help the upward quirks of his lips. “Think you’ll survive?”
Addison blinked up at him for a moment, relinquishing control of the dogs with just a slight twinge of regret and standing up fully. “Thank you,” she said with a nod, her hands already unfolding one napkin in order to wipe her arm. At his words she raised an eyebrow at him, not entirely convinced of his sincerity, her eyes narrowing a little at the sight of his almost smile, she might have found it charming if she wasn’t so annoyed by the situation. “I suppose I will. Though you shouldn’t be shocked if I send you an extortionate bill from a dry cleaners.”

He quirked an eyebrow as she poised her rhetorical question. No, it wasn’t something that he knew much about, and he couldn’t help but smirk as she explained it to him. He didn’t mean to be rude - he was sorry that he had caused this, and was sorry that he hadn’t paid much attention. But it wasn’t like he could do anything to take it back, now. Cole grinned, nonplussed. It was a little coffee, they’d both survive. “Sorry, darlin’.” He took one of her small wrists and slid the leashes over it. “Sit tight, I’ll go get some napkins, ‘nd we’ll be alright,” he assured her, already half turning into the nearest storefront.
Slightly distracted by the lilt of his accent Addison didn’t even have chance to pull her hand back or stop him from giving her control over his dogs before he was turning away. She let out a slight huff at the turn of her situation, this day was really not going as planned. One of the dogs pulled slightly on his leash drawing her attention to the four legged creatures and she couldn’t help but coo slightly at them, dogs were always a weak spot. Bending down she scratched behind one of their ears and nodded towards the others, “Yes, you’re very cute too and your turn is next.”

“Ah, ‘scuse me,” Cole drawled, turning the leashes around his wrist as he paused. The pups were all well behaved - anything else would be irresponsible and dangerous in Cole’s line of work - but he liked to keep them close, nevertheless. He half turned, bright blue eyes running over the woman’s form. Little bit of coffee, that was all. It wouldn’t hurt anyone. “Are you alright?”
She rolled her eyes, still keeping her hand away from her body as the brown liquid started to cool some, “No. Do you know how hard it is to get coffee stains out of suede? Hard.” Addison glanced up at him, noting the dogs and his non-coffee stained clothes, “You should watch where you’re going.”

Addison hadn’t really thought about how much she would miss Northpoint until she had been away from the town for an extended amount of time. She wasn’t quite sure when it had happened - maybe it was between the lunch trips and lack of sirens at night - but this silly little town had somehow worked its way into her heart. And she wasn’t entirely sure she minded. Not that she would admit it to anyone. Walking down the sidewalk, coffee cup in one hand, suitcase being pulled with the other, the redhead was enjoying her stroll home when her shoulder was knocked by a passer by and just like that - her picturesque home coming bubble was popped. “Fucking hell.” she hissed under her breath, shaking her now wet and scorched hand, trying not to get any of her pale pink jacket or matching bag.
