Steps to Standardize your Existing Address
The process of transforming an address into the proper format according to an authoritative database is known as address standardization or address normalization. Address data standardization is an important part of a holistic data cleaning strategy. It improves the quality of your data and makes it easier to compare addresses across databases.

It is possible to standardize your address list manually, but it is an extremely time-consuming and labor-intensive task. First, you must import all your addresses from different sources into a single spreadsheet or database. Then you must perform a thorough profiling of the data to identify errors and determine the extent of cleanup required. Once you have a clear understanding of the scope of the problem, you can begin the standardization process.
Address standardization is a crucial part of any marketing or direct mail campaign. It helps reduce the number of lost or returned mail pieces and ensures that your direct mail reaches its intended recipients. It also improves delivery rates and increases customer retention.
Using a smart, comprehensive address standardization solution is the best way to ensure that your direct mail reaches its recipients and is delivered on time. Traditionally, address normalization solutions rely on closed systems and API integrations to standardize address data. However, a better approach is to use an open source universal location identifier like Placekey, which simplifies the entire address matching, verification and normalization process. This allows you to focus on your business and customers, while still maintaining a robust and reliable address database.

Why You Should Not Include The Address Line 2 Field on Online Forms?
Using an online form to order something from a store, book tickets to a concert or event, or schedule a repair technician to visit your home or business are all great examples of forms that require accurate customer information. And many of these online forms include an “Address Line 2” field. But does it make sense to have a separate address line 2 for these forms? During user testing, we’ve found that a second address line can confuse users and lead to inaccurate data.

For example, if a person writes their complete address in the first line of an online form and then also adds a secondary unit designator like “Apt,” “Suite,” “Room,” or “Flat” in the second line, address validation systems can’t determine which one of these is the original intended destination. As a result, the correct address may not get delivered and the order or request will be delayed.
In addition to being confusing for users, the duplicate address field can cause errors that are difficult and time-consuming for businesses to fix. That’s because it requires multiple steps to manually separate the bad from the good addresses. In most cases, the best way to avoid these errors is to eliminate the address line 2 field altogether. Providing users with a single text area to type their address and clear guidance will prevent them from making mistakes. This approach will also help reduce the amount of data that must be entered by your users.

How to Avoid Late Payments?
One of the quickest ways to keep your business healthy is to ensure that your customers pay you on time. Without a steady stream of cash coming in, you can’t afford to buy the materials and resources your company needs. You might even be forced to miss out on other opportunities because you’re unable to pay your own vendors and utilities.

There are many reasons why customer receive past due accounts receivable letter, but a few simple steps can help you prevent these issues from happening in the first place. Having a strong system of tracking your accounts receivable is crucial to being able to spot a payment delay. Many accounting software solutions offer tools to automate this process. Also, being consistent with billing reminders can prevent customers from slipping behind in their payments.
Creditors typically report late payments on a credit report 30 days after the payment due date. But you may be able to avoid a late payment from affecting your credit scores if you contact the company and ask for a waiver or extension.
If you’re a regular consumer who struggles to remember when bills are due, signing up for autopay is an easy way to prevent a late payment. You can set up automatic payments through your bank or with most financial institutions. Many lenders will even shave a few percentage points off your interest rate when you sign up for autopay, so it’s well worth the effort to get this setup.

What is Address Line 2 Used For in Practice?
In the United States, the second address line is intended for secondary unit designators like apartment, suite, room, or floor numbers. It is often used in addition to primary unit designators and postal codes, or by online retailers who need a more precise delivery address for items shipped to apartments or locations within larger buildings. In other countries, address line 2 is not required and may vary based on local conventions.
Despite its clear purpose, many users confuse address line 2 and its intended use, which can lead to inaccurate data collection. This can ultimately affect the quality of the data you receive through your online forms, which can have downstream consequences across your business processes.
The best way to avoid address line 2 confusion is to hide it in the form, allowing the subset of users who actually need it to quickly access it and not be tempted to split their address information into two fields, as this can cause validation errors. For example, Target’s website does this well by hiding the field behind a link, which is not visible until you click it to reveal it in the form. This eliminates the temptation for users to second-guess their input and essentially forces them to choose one option, which is more likely to be correct.
You can also utilize an advanced address validation solution like PostGrid to ensure that your online forms have consistent and accurate addresses, even when you are collecting information from a large number of people. This can significantly reduce the likelihood of incorrect or incomplete data collection and help your business to run more smoothly.

Example of Attention Line in Business Letters
A well-crafted business letter should be clearly written and error-free. However, ensuring that the letter arrives in the hands of the right person can require a bit of a nudge, especially if the recipient is part of a large organization. This nudge can take the form of an "attention line" placed at the top of the envelope between the date and the recipient's address.
While it may seem outdated in today's more informal digital age, including appropriate salutations and attention lines in your business correspondence demonstrates professionalism and courtesy. It can also help ensure that your message is taken seriously and receives prompt action.
In general, the first line of an attention line should be the person's name followed by their title. If you do not know the individual's title, you can use their job description instead (such as Director of Marketing). It is important to note that your entire address should be written in uppercase, including your name and company name. It is also standard practice to include a notation on private or confidential correspondence, such as PERSONAL or CONFIDENTIAL, below the reference line.
If you do not use an attention line while writing an attention letter and have the person's full name and title included in your Inside Address, skip the attention line and start the letter with a salutation, such as Dear Mr. or Mrs. Smith or Dear Mr. or Ms. Smith, and end the letter with a closing salutation such as Sincerely or Best regards.
