Lines in Where the Shadows Land That Made Me Blush

Size difference is maybe my favorite trope of all time. Maybe it’s bc I’m 5ft2 on a good day, so *everyone* is taller than me, or maybe it’s just because it’s hot. Either way, when Astoria realized how big Mairuk is? I blushed!!! Hard! People keep making the joke that they would run screaming from these fantasy MC’s with massive meat sticks, and honestly, I can’t relate. 🤣

“You are so pretty when you cry for us.”

That line was so unexpected, I wrote it and squealed. EXCUSE ME, MUSHIE? 🥵 I was NOT prepared. Same with that other line. My brain turned into soup. Mairuk is dirty af, but also such an angel.

one of the most fun things about being a discovery writer is the part where I get hit with plot twists/connections I didn't plan on at all, but it makes sense, and it works like I DID plan it.

But, I didn't. The source of my stories tells me What Happens & I'm often just as (if not more!) surprised than y'all are.

I write books for the besties who loved dystopian books as a teen, but also fantasy books, especially the ones that blurred the line between science and magic. 4 Things to Expect In Where the Shadows Land

You should expect the following four things in Where the Shadows Land:

-High Fantasy Worldbuilding. Where the Shadows Land is character-driven and an interlude, so there isn’t much going on externally that the MCs know about. However, since my interludes exist to help me build out my fantasy worlds, the world is fully built up in the background.

-Emotional Damage. An alpha reader called this book “emo spore-n” like six months ago, and tbh she was right. This story will punch you in the heart, rip it out, and then put it back together again. I ugly cried a lot writing this. I hope you like a little sprinkle of pain with your spice!

-A Tender Romance. Astoria and Mairuk are perfect for one another. I didn’t realize it at first, just how good they were together until they grew closer on the page. These are among the few characters I’ve written so far that are *not* Soul Mates/Fated Mates, and that was an intentional choice, because love doesn’t have to be fated to be beautiful, and watching these two choose each other??? I cried from the cute almost as much as I cried from the pain.

-Monster Spice, of course. About 28% of the total word count of book is the FMC and ENBYMC doin' it. If you don’t like a lot of spice, you’ve been warned!

To the surprise of no one, video games are one of my favorite storytelling mediums and my delulu author dream is to have a video game made from a specific project of mine bc 1) it would be a cool game, (I dreamed this concept and saw it as a game) and 2) I love the gamers and want to feed them a juicy plot between fun/frustrating combat and ROMANCE.A movie would be so cool, but I would *lose my marbles* for a video game of my epics 😌😌😌

Being a monster fucker is great until I make a monster that IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FUCKABLE but they got charm & now I’m trying to figure out how this ultimate evil force in my fantasy universe can get down and do the nasty.

It’s not my fault. The monster said “will I take your heart before you take mine?” & now I love them 😭

The heart thing is literal. Like that’s how they are killed. But oh I thirst. 😭😭😭😭

Like yeah I know that they got down and dirty but if I don’t see it? It bothers me.

I have questions. 😂Also spice is the treat for all the emotional damage. It keeps me goin until I can get to the fluff, both as an author & as a reader. 😂😂😂

Tropes you’ll see from me a LOT:

-Fated Mates/Soulmates: this trope is my favorite of all favorites. Love that can’t be broken by time/space, that isn’t limited by memory? Love so great it’s divinely ordained??? YES YES YES!

-Forbidden Love: this one hurts so good. When you know you can’t have the person you want?? PAIN. LONGING. & then they get together in the end (bc Romance) & it turns out that love does conquer all. 😩💗

-Enemies-to-Lovers: need I say more?

I see comments sometimes or I get messages about people being like “but what about—?” Or “I wish we could see character x and character y’s babies!”

If I leave something open, it’s on purpose 😌Not all of my characters will have children, but if I talk about my MCs having children in the book, but I mention nothing else about them….All I’m saying is I have 44* books to write, and well, maybe I leave them out on purpose bc you might meet them later 👀👀👀👀👀👀
