yayyy the zine is finally here!!! im sooo happy i got to participate with all the other amazing artists and writers on this zine (i was rlly nervous since its my first time doing smth like this but the mods were very kind and sweet <3)

some very subtle easter eggs i added in the comic/commentary below cut

the lamb's pose in the third page is taken from chauncey ives's sculpture "undine rises from the fountain"

Undine, as she reaches up toward heaven out of the waters to receive her immortal soul.

Chauncey Bradley Ives American, 1810–1894 Undine, Rising from the Fountain, modeled ca. 1880–82 Marble White marble seems to dissolve into rippling wet fabric as the water nymph Undine changes from liquid to human form. Abandoned by her husband, the heartbroken nymph is seeking revenge: an embrace that will drown him with tears.

the lamb's pose in the fourth page is taken from a lorenzo bartolini sculpture "the nymph with the scorpion" from its back tho

and the last page, the lamb's pose s again taken from another bartolini sculpture called "trust in god"

i really love neoclassical sculptures and i chose these specific works for how their stories relate to the lamb's and i also am a sucker for subtle symbolism so this was a treat to draw hehe :3

now onto the dialogue, its lyrics from a song i love that reads as very narilamb to me, "candleburn" by rabbitology i highly recommend you give it a listen

Check out this beautiful painting I saw in a gallery the other day. I love the amazing use of color in the fall foliage, and the way it frames the solitary deer standing next to the little path.

And theere. wee. gooo... lots of hours went into this seemingly little thing xD But so is the suffering of people who draw rarely. Also, damn, I'm bad at layouting (?) speech-texts xD Then again, I've never learnt to, yet. And the software I used is...not good for that. Anyway.

This is a small scene out of one of @the-one-who-lambs aka @onethirdofimpossible many fan fictions "Sunshine" on ao3!

They've got sooo many good stories on there!!! This is just one of them that really got me in the moment and got me to draw something this long in like...never? I think I've never drawn something to this scale before xD It was surprisingly calming and mediative to just get into the flow of drawing this.

Here's the first sketch storyboard I've made for this just to get ideas down.

And since I'm interested in Manga I thought, why not try to sketch the layout of the pages like that (also some practices in drawing their faces to get a feeling for the style)

And while I liked a lot of the ideas it felt kind of forced and too rigid, somehow? Didn't feel the motivation to execute the comic like that... So, yea, back it went to the free form and just draw scene by scene.
