Boots Dont Lie

It's not anyone's fall in the Bay right now, but I wanted to take the time and review these boots for the ladies who had questions before the darn things sell out. I purchased these knee high sway boots from Eloquii and was concerned about them fitting over my thigh.  I was pleasantly surprised of how good the boots fit and how relatively comfortable they are for a boot with 4"inch heels.  I'm also very impressed of the style of the boot and how chic they are.

Style Notes:You'll want to note that in the back of the boots there was a small elastic panel at the top of boots be hind the knee.  I cut out the elastic to give myself more thigh room.  Don't worry about anyone being able to see your alteration, the way the elastic is built into the boot that change is easily hidden.  I purchased a size 11 in the boots, the boots are wide but still fit me a little snug.  Just note that these boots are not super wide. If you are not comfortable with a 4'inch heel you can always take your boots to a shoe repair shop and have them reduce the size of the heel for you.

Culottes

I didn't know about this whole culottes thing.   I remember seeing myself in photos wearing them back in the day and it was not pretty. LOL.  I will say that this updated trend has changed my mind about swearing off culottes.  The faux leather definitely gives them a cool factor.

Style Notes:  These culottes from Eloquii were purchased i n a size 24.  I thought they would be too small, but they worked.  The faux leather has give as well and loosened up as I wore them.

The Windmills

Actual dreams coming true...

 I've been obsessed with windmills since about the fourth grade. So, naturally during my trip to Holland an entire day was set aside to travel to the beautiful village of Zaanse Schans. This place is basically a dream! Perfect little cottages which are now museums, working windmill s, happy ducks, boats, the most friendly people and a Primark just a few miles down the road, ha!

 Twirling with windmills makes perfect sense.

Now, I have an uber sweet spot for Goo Goo, an uber talented, sweet, funny, and sharp Curvy Fashionista. So when I caught wind of her latest web series with WE tv, I had to share this amazing news with you! Today, WE tv is launching “Goo Ru Style,” a weekly video series! “Goo Ru Style” gives us eight fashion filled videos with Goo’s top tips on looking our best and dressing for our body type.

COOL NEWS: Project Runway Finale Debuts a Plus Size Collection!

This is so exciting and while you may have heard, seen some pictures, I had to share it with you even as I was at a conference this day! We have been calling out for diversity, representation, and more in the fashion industry and for the first time in Project Runway’s 14 years on air, history was made! For the finale, there was a plus size collection showcased with plus size models working the runway!

Quite a few familiar faces, I saw Liris Crosse doing her thing! As judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Zac Posen sat front row, it has been shared that the audience applauded with glee and joy as they saw each plus size model take their turn on the runway!

But whose plus size collection was it?

This collection full of lady-like pieces in pretty pastels contrasted with hues of deep purples and teals!

My money says Ashley Nell Tipton.

For the finale, the Project Runway finalists did not get to set the stage or introduce their collection, you were left guessing and deducing whose collections and aesthetics were represented! I get it… they want the suspense, no spoilers, and for us to tune to Lifetime to catch the winner, but if you have shopped, checked out her prior collections, and know how awesome she is, then it is soooo fair to assume that this collection belongs to Ashley Nell Tipton! RIGHT??

Following Qristyl Frazier’s lead as a plus size designer on the show, Ashley Nell Tipton has been slaying and killing the competition on Project Runway! With a few wins under her belt and a collection that screams hey boo, I am hyped and geeked for her. Let me add, I remember when she went through the application process. I almost forgot that she applied too!

So when we will know who see collection this is AND if it won? Well, we have to tune into Project Runway to find out!

BUT!!!

In the meantime, I just have to say that this full plus size collection showing at NYFW is MAY-JOR!

I am so happy that they made this happen! Here’s one for the history books!

Summer Dress & Sandals...

      When it's a scorching 99 degrees outside my main objectives of staying cute and cool get thrown out of the window. I gravitate to cool, flowy dresses to help me maintain during the last of the summer heat. I picked this dress up during a dig through the sale rack at Anthropologie. I know a  few of are giving me the side-eye, but Anthro ( as I like to call it) has great pieces that are plus size friendly. This dress is a large and I am a 20-22 in most sizes.  It is my go to place for unusual pieces to add to my wardrobe. Plus-size style hack : Kn ee-high gladiator sandals have been on wish list for quite some time. When I saw the Chloe Wedge on the runway for this spring I knew I had to have a pair. Cut to last month when Forever 21 put up a look-alike pair I bought them immediately, unsure of weather they would work on my 19 inch calves. Well they didn't the shoe strings were just a little too short. Since I had nothing to lose I ordered a longer pair of shoe strings from Amazon and they worked perfectly! Listen, I know that there are lots of things that aren't easy in the world of being a plus size girl, but sometimes we all have to go the extra mile to get their look you are yearning for. I am going to start sharing my plus-size style hacks with you! A few of my friends pointed out that I had a ton of them, and that I should put them on the blog. Four Influential Black Women, Four Magazine Covers

                              Serena, Misty, Beyonce and Ciara are making history; Four influential Black women all on magazine covers! I love it so much and am so ecstatic about the fierceness they each give us.

Serena poses in New York with such poise and grace. Not to mention her body looks insane!

    Talk about flawless! That&r third appearance for Vogue. I am loving the wet and wavy look on her!

          Misty is indeed always on pointe as the title of the September issue of Essence suggests. The distinguished ballerina and recently named ABT principal looked absolutely stunning!

  In her interview with Shape magazine, Ciara talks about her struggle with weight after having her son, and a little detail about her relationship with Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. On top of that the sultry songtress has lost 60 lbs. and she looks awesome!

Often times, we see advertisements and commercials that depict women exercising. The only problem with these ads is that most of time all of the women in them are the same size. Very seldom do we see a plus size woman working out in a television commercial. To women looking at these ads from their computers, televisions, and magazines it appears unrealistic. It creates unrealistic goals and almost encourages women to be something they are not. The main point of embracingle with our own bodies and knowing that we are more than what people think we are. Running Around

I love looks like this that look put together, but are just so comfortable that you can do your day to day runs feeling like you are in your leisure wear.  This button up from Foxcroft, even on a warm day is cool, lightweight, and made of cotton which breathes with you.  Today was a rare 90 degree day and I felt cool, footloose and fancy free. This, for me, was the perfect casual, but put together look. 

Style Notes: I got this top in a size 22, which is my usually sizing for Foxcroft.  The arms are nice and roomy and I probably could size down, I just have this thing for oversized tops.  Fox croft is true to size and I never have any issues with the arms fitting.
