Hurricaine Forest Wildlife Refuge
A few trails through the forest and around a pond in this sweet White River Junction, VT sanctuary. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed. I get the sense that these are busy trails because it was raining when we went and I still saw a couple other people wth dogs.

A Favorite Trip
Last July we were fortunate to be able to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday in Cape Cod. We rented an AirBNB in Wellfleet, which was a beautiful location not too far from Provincetown. This was our first AirBNB experience, which made me realize that hotels are a huge waste of money! Not only did we have a safe place to stay in a prime location, but we had more luxuries than a typical hotel stay. We had a private entrance with the family living in a different part of the home than where we were. It was quiet and private. The hosts left us several pages of information on the area including their favorite places to eat and things to do. We also were provided with a fridge, coffees, and teas. Our room was clean and comfortable.
If you are interested in staying where we stayed, it was The Comet Room at Packet Port Villa. Hosted by Suzannah and Russell.
The first place we ate was my favorite. It was The Bookstore & Restaurant. The oysters were so good, and you could watch people pulling up oysters in the water just across the street.

We had the pleasure of visiting a local store called Maurice's Market where they gave us a coupon to go to the drive in movie theatre. This was my first time at a drive in movie, super cool!

We hung out at the beach of course! Marconi beach was our favorite, and we loved The Beachcomber which was a bar/eatery right on the beach.

And then we checked out P-Town which was like this busy city in the middle of a quiet beach area!

We would be together and have our books and at night be warm in bed together with the windows open and the stars bright.

As summer came to an end this year, I found myself really dreading fall. Usually fall has always been my favorite season; finally I can wrap up in cozy, comfortable layers, I can admire the foliage and enjoy some hikes without overheating. But this year I didn鈥檛 get to the beach as much as usual, and I struggled in general with feeling grounded through our move to Vermont, family matters, career goals etc. Now that fall is here, all the beauty and comfort has over powered any feelings of upset and unrest. The air is thin and it鈥檚 easy to breathe. The sun is visible but not unbareable. Symbolically the worries from the year are floating away with the leaves. Even though I didn鈥檛 go on any adventures today, I bathed in the serenity of home comforts.

Today the pups and I also visited a pond in Windsor, VT which was suggested by a friend. It's a suprisingly sweet area in the middle of town where it is safe to swim and has a small beach area. Most of the pond is surrounded by trees, while the beach area is near the road so I had to keep the dogs on a leash. It was relaxing and we spent some time here unwinding from the day. Definately a good spot to bring a book and chill. Kennedy Pond Ascutney st Windsor, VT

It was a beautiful day today in the Upper Valley with the weather getting up to about 80 degrees. I took advantage of the rare fall afternoon, and grabbed my two best friends, aka fur babies, and did some local exploration. Quechee Green Park - Common 70 Village Green Circle, Quechee VT

The camera on my phone is poor and doesn't capture the true beauty of this place. This is an off leash friendy dog park for your information, although it's not fenced in. I went around 4pm and only ran into a couple dogs and owners. Very quiet, peaceful, lovely walk. I was happy to see the river which was shallow enough for the dogs to wade in and have a refreshing drink.

We'll be amongst the trees, mountains, and streams. We'll be making memories and fulfilling our dreams. We'll hold eachother tighter as the world tears us a apart. We'll swim in the ocean of the others' beating heart. The Flume, Franconia Notch NH 08/17

I didn't expect that my first entry on this blog was going to be like this, but here it goes... In my lifetime I can't recall more hate and violence in our country as there is now. I see a shift locally in the twin states where it seems like we have aways been safe. I never used to be afraid of travel, but now I am. I never used to be afraid of being a nurse in a hospital, but now I am. I used to feel like if I wasn't doing something BIG, that it was unimportant. But I know better now... I know that small adjustments in behavior and thought processes are life changing. Sometimes I would get caught up in the BIG stuff like college, career, business... and miss the real picture. The real picture is that the person standing next to you in line could be suffering. It's that every person has their own special variety of trauma and mental illness. It's that a stranger can change our perspectives. It's that we will never be wrong when our intention is love and kindness. The real picture is that we can all think of a time when we needed someone and someone saved us. Lets be here for eachother, lets make that small personal shift in intention, and in turn save eachother.
