“Shun you have serious injuries. While Nia is recovering and Malos distracted- Shall I quickly tend to your wounds before Jin turns his attention to us?”

Dromarch has noticed Jin intently watching the battle between the Malos and the new Aegis Driver. The Blade knew that it would only be a matter of time before his attention would change to them and he could try to strike them both down. There was little time to waste and he knows his Driver is well aware of that as she’s picking herself up and grabbing onto Shun. Her grip is weak but she’s managing to watch the battle. The shock of Rex still being alive or having been resurrected still stuns her.

She could even see Jin is baffled and Malos is getting angry. They’re both probably as equally confused by this situation as she is… But instead of frustration, she’s feeling the upmost relief to see Rex alive and well. It truly changed the tide of the situation as she watches Rex and Pyra charge at Malos and Sever, hoping they’d land a hit and put a stop to the monstrous duo. Though she sees Jin now looking at her and Shun.

Seems he’s switching his attention to them.

“Aaaaiyah!!!”

Rex begins locking weapons with Malos again before shouting out to his fleeing fellow Salvagers.

“Everyone, go, now! Quick!”

Salvagers are fleeing to their ships, scrambling to escape the fierce battle that had transpired on the ship. You can see the panic and fear on their faces as they cross the small bridges to their tickets back home. Malos, seeing this, is nimbly dodging every single swipe from the inexperienced Driver as Sever throws his weapon at him, catching it and preparing an attack to try and take out the fleeing salvagers. He wasn’t going to let these small fry escape but it seems Rex isn’t going to let him.

“Hey, you bully! Over here!”

He sends a fiery wave at Malos to stop the attack, making the older male grunt with anger and annoyance. Rex uses this opportunity to jump up with his Blade, now glowing with a strange golden aura as his weapon is engulfed in flame.

“Burning Sword!!!”

Serious was an understatement. Were he a normal creature, being impaled would have been a mortal wound. Having his face cut as it had by Malos moments earlier would have just sealed the deal. Shun was ready to decline the beast-type Blade, as he could regenerate himself without need of support. However, from a tactical viewpoint it would be far better to focus his efforts in one direction instead.

       “Do what you can, Dromarch. I’ll intercept Jin before he can reach you both.”

Shun would now allow the Blade to do as he’d requested, his one good eye focused on Jin as he couldn’t be certain if he would go in to assist his comrade. However, seeing as he did not immediately go to Malos’s aid was a fortunate turn of fate for Rex and this mystery woman.

A hand reached down, lightly setting itself over one of the hands the Driver used to grip onto him. The message the man wanted to convey was clear, for her to let go when he needed to go. His hand was so gentle and warm, earnest enough that surely this intent would reach her. If not, she was likely to lose balance if she hadn’t properly recovered by the time he moved.

Once Jin’s attention shifted back to the trio, the Herald thought of how best he would face him. Going all out here could bring more harm than good to those he was aiming to protect in this situation. Even so, the Herald would do all he had to in order to assure good people didn’t die this day.

✧ | “Burning Sword!” She exclaims with Rex, keeping her hold on the blade’s grip. With the sword’s blade surrounded by a fiery flame, Pyra and Rex were both on the offensive with Malos and Sever, keeping their attention at themselves. (For the last thing they want is someone innocent and not involved in this mess to get killed.)

Before Malos can literally lay a hand on them, they both leap back to dodge, and Pyra was ready to provide support to Rex. They exchanged blows left and right, and she was doing all she could to make sure he doesn’t get hurt, let alone killed. It’s only been mere minutes since her awakening and his revival, there’s no way that they’d let themselves lose at this point! This goes on for quite a while, and she follows suit when Rex charges straight at Malos. However, when she sees Sever run straight at her, she quickly notices Malos successfully giving Rex a punch to the gut, after the latter attempted to strike!

“Rex!” She wants to run to his aid, she wants to help, but Pyra continued to dodge Sever’s advance and attacks, for he wouldn’t allow her to aid her new driver. If only she could find a way to evade Sever and rush straight to help Rex... then she could press on with her own power as well!

When Jin’s blade ran right through his chest, his whole world went black. It was like falling into a dream when he awoke to a land far different than the ship. Eyes glanced around in confusion. Was he dreaming? He could not recall his final moments before being thrust into this strange dream-like world. All he could do was proceed onward, closer to the woman he saw standing by the tree that stuck out in this beautiful area.

He approaches the woman cautiously, calling out to her. It was hard to take in the fact this dream-like area was Elysium, the paradise that people seek. It’s upon getting close that he notices the core crystal on her chest, coming to quick conclusion that she was a blade but far more unique than any other… Pyra… That was her name? This lead to him awkwardly trying to introduce himself before finding out the other had already known his name.

Only to find out that he had just been killed and she had learned his name right before Jin stabbed him through his back.

There was immediate panic as it all came flooding back, realizing the guild was going to be in danger and he could do nothing to help. Titan’s Foot! If he was still alive he’d kick that Jin’s ass!

Though he’s snapped out of his anger by her request to take her to Elysium… And she’ll give him half of her life force so he could do it… He’ll become the Driver of the Aegis and save this world.

“We… Wouldn’t have to live… In fear… Then there’s only one choice. I’m in. Let’s go to Elysium. I’ll take you there myself!”

And thus, after an embarrassing moment of freaking out a little about being told where to place his hand… He places his hand upon her chest and-

“Guess it’s time to take out- AGAIN?!”

Malos is getting SICK of the surprises by this point. The pod near them bursts into flames, forcing Malos, Jin, and Sever to jump back and away from Shun. Two flaming pillars erupt, one from the pod, and another from below as Rex’s cry could be heard. Nia seems to be completely shocked to hear Rex’s voice once more as the other now stands, a crystal on his chest and a sword in his hand. Malos seems enraged at the sight.

“You! And that sword. Can’t be-!”

“It’s kinda low to stab a man in the back. You bloody psychopath! Pyra!”

The Herald didn’t hesitate to use the distraction to his advantage, grabbing the  Gormotti girl and moving position along with her Blade. While he may have been belittled for the act, Shun found himself relieved that she had not lost her life coming to the aid of others. Even she considered it insane to take such an attack for a stranger, yet it was the right thing to do. He knew it in his heart, and that was all there was to it.

        “Dromarch, I take it you can look after your Driver. I need to go back.”

The man propped Nia against the Blade, standing up as his back was turned to the two clearly intent on returning to make certain the battle on the opposite side of the ship was fair.

✧ | Upon Rex’s return to reality, the pod that Pyra was in was set ablaze in flames, and the blade herself jumped out of it, revealing herself to all. The core crystal upon her chest did change a bit upon giving Rex half of her life force, and what’s done is done. No longer was she in sleep, and no longer was Rex dead. Now with Rex ready for combat, the Aegis herself was prepared to back him up, for she was now his blade, and he was her driver. 

“Right. Got it.” She says, jumps off to run over to Rex’s side to support him, but upon Sever going straight at her, Pyra takes notice and immediately dodges. She didn’t say anything upon Sever’s taunts to divert her attention from Rex, especially since he was clashing blades with Malos this very instant. Pyra manages to dodge Sever’s attacks, unfazed by the other’s remarks.

This battle was fierce. Not only was the Aegis found, but Pyra herself was reawakened thanks to the events that transpired here. She sees that Malos was about to gain the upper hand upon driving Rex away from him. As Malos tosses his sword for Sever to catch, they were going to strike at him. At her new driver. 

With the utmost haste, Pyra rushes over to Rex’s side and goes in front of him, extending her arms in front to create a temporary barrier, shielding Rex in the process. There’s a hint of a smile when Rex thanked her for saving him, but her expression became determined once more, for Malos and Sever were still out for the two. 

“You’re welcome. Now, don’t let up!” 

She would continue to defend Sever’s attacks from harming Rex, allowing him to continue fighting and hopefully save the others in the Salvage Team that witnessed these chain of events.

✧ | As the battle from reality above besets the Ancient Ship. Although Rex was killed upon touching the crystal, fate had its own way after him getting killed. Little did he know, while the events transpires above, there is still a way to turn the tide of the situation. 

Elysium. 

The girl that was seen in statis, she appeared right before Rex. With fiery red locks and ruby eyes, it was the same girl that he saw, before Jin killed him. Her name...is Pyra. 

With clouds above the blue skies, and a grassy field, one would probably be at peace with such a sight of Elysium. However, this was all naught but a distant memory, a forgotten memory that was so ancient. It was...her home. All myths and legends about Elysium were true, and she is indeed the Aegis. 

The core crystal that glows upon herself confirms it so, as well as being the exact color of the blade. (At least, in it’s current form.) After telling Rex about her request on him taking her to Elysium, the other did want to help. But also reminded on how he was killed just a moment ago, and how he can’t help if he’s not alive. 

“I will give you half of my life force.” She says, putting a hand over her core crystal. 

 “That way...you can be revived. As..the Driver of the Aegis.” 

Not only will Rex be resurrected from his death but he will get the chance to save those who will probably fall to his apparent fate, as well as become her Driver. Rex did express surprise upon hearing that he can come back to life as her Driver, and also finding out about the Aegis and Elysium itself too. Pyra merely nods before answering. And she knows what he’s thinking about at this moment.

“That’s right...by coming to here, you can save the world. Save it from the slow demise that is its fate.” 

“...What will you do, Rex?”  

It’s up to him. The fate of the world now rests upon his choice.

Shun was fully prepared to meet Jin in battle after showing his resolve to face a foe that appeared to be greater. His conviction was honorable though their ideals clashed. Thus it was only fitting that the Herald meet his opponent’s blade.However, as the two clashed briefly his gaze shifted to the other two.

As much as the Herald wanted to face his current opponent, it was clear the small woman was not handling her own as well. Thus instead of properly meeting the swordsman’s charge, Shun launches himself in reverse via his heel. At first it might have seemed to be a retreat, but Jin would clearly see the trajectory in which he propelled himself.

Between Nia and the Blade which would have felled her, the young man’s face was cut into. It was possible he could have gotten an easy attack on Malos instead. However, to him this had a much higher chance for success. Less risk to the girl as well; it was the correct choice in Shun’s eyes.

“Are you insane?!”

Her eyes widen in horror as Shun took the hit, watching the blood drawn from it. No! Why did he take that hit for her?! She was a complete stranger, not someone worth dying over! She’s trying to get up despite her injuries but her body aches in protest. Curses go through her mind as she can’t stand being unable to help and change the tide of battle. She couldn’t help this man… Just like she couldn’t stop poor Rex from being ran through…

“Aw. Look Jin. Tough guy here has a soft spot for the ladies.”

Malos can’t help but mock the other, a chuckle escaping him as he looked at the blood on poor Shun’s face. He seems completely uncaring to the pain he’s inflicted onto Nia despite them both having been allies. She had outlived her purpose to him if she was going to side with some random stowaway punk over her fellow members of Torna. She was practically dead to him at this point.

“Jin. Sever. Let’s finish this. All of us target the punk.”

Jin seems to not say anything, looking away from Nia as Sever seems to mock her for a moment as their attention turns to Shun. It seems it was about to practically be a 3 v 1 as they prepared to go after the “poor” man. Regardless of his fancy skills- They weren’t even operating at full power and could probably beat this miserable punk to hell and back.

This was looking grim.
