whoops didn't mean to fucking. disappear like that, but life started Happening all at once 🙃 my dad ended up going to the hospital on saturday bc he had a raging infection in his foot and for some unknown reason he was ignoring it. he's doing better and responding well to antibiotics but we don't know much more than that atm. i think it's understandable that i haven't had much energy or space for tumblr right now. it's been a very stressful time all around, so hopefully once this settles, i'll be back.

caelus pauses for a moment , head tilted as he thinks. it's difficult to put his thoughts into exact words , it's more complex than perhaps he first thought. as he sees it , everyone has the capacity to do good if they choose to , but in the same vein , everyone has the capacity to do evil as well. & there is plenty of evil in the universe , the trailblazer has seen much of it firsthand. but , caelus thinks , that's not what dan heng is really asking. he should perhaps tread a bit more cautiously than he thinks. as he gathers his thoughts , the trailblazer reaches for the archivist's hand , lacing their fingers together with a slight smile.

❛ well ... i don't think there's too many truly evil people out there. i think ... i think everyone is capable of doing good or doing bad if they choose to. they're both choices , paths people can follow just like any other. & i think ... i think most people who do bad things are just choosing to do what they think is right. & ... i don't think anyone is unredeemable. i think people can change , but they have to want to change , y'know ?? ❜

at the very least , caelus wants to believe he's making at a little sense. & maybe it's naive of him to believe like that , but it's the truth , at least in his eyes. believing in the goodness in the universe makes all the terrible parts a little easier to bear. because for all the evil caelus has seen , he's also seen love that transcends time , seen people lift each other up & care for them. the trailblazer has seen enough goodness to know it's there , to believe that it can be chosen.

❛ & i think that people deserve a second chance. i think that they deserve the chance to change , to make a better choice. no one can change without help , & they can't try if they never get a chance. i don't think everyone can change , but it's nice to think that people can always choose to be better than they were yesterday. ❜

golden eyes fix on dan heng's face with conviction , expression more resolute than before. whatever dan heng was truly asking , this was caelus' answer.

at first , caelus is caught off guard by the poetry of dan heng's words. it's not exactly unusual for him , but the trailblazer won't lie & say he understands it. it takes a moment for dan heng's words to truly sink in , bringing the barest hint of color to caelus' cheeks as he smiles.

& then he laughs. at first , it's soft , barely audible with even the slight distance between them. then , it's louder , shaking his shoulders & bubbling uncontrollably from him as he finds dan heng's hand , squeezing it gently.

truthfully , caelus was a bit sad to be leaving the luofu so soon. there was so much he wanted to explore still , so much to learn about. but himeko had said they needed to depart relatively quickly after the wardance festival in order to reach their next destination on schedule. he'd still had enough time to say his goodbyes , feeling rather happy with how many friends he'd been able to meet with.

he hadn't managed to catch jing yuan yet , & the trailblazer couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed at that , but there was little he could do. the general was a busy man , after all.

which is partly why caelus was so surprised when jing yuan catches him in passing , pulling him away from march 7th.

of course , caelus should've figured jing yuan would make at least a bit of time to see them off. they'd all grown quite close recently , & the trailblazer smiles warmly as jing yuan reaches for his hand.

his hand is lifted to the general's lips , & a kiss is pressed to his knuckles , which is not at all what the trailblazer is expecting. caelus' cheeks turn pink , but he returns the general's smile after a moment.
