what is the child annihilating zipline
in 2010, a camp counselor goon logged on to the somethingawful forums asking for help with the zipline he build from scratch, and with no engineering knowledge, that didn’t seem to be working right. when he tested it with a sandbag, it continued to gather speed during the entirety of the 143 foot drop (19 degree slope) until it slammed into the wooden platform at the bottom at a speed of 65mph, presumably creating a child paste that would have to be scraped off to be sent home. there were pictures.

An alecani who hails from the Pel'Dimali region of my headworld (think plains and sonoran desert)! These alecani have a special kinship with storms and often wield lightning magic. Like their counterparts in human lore, they are known for their trickster ways. They also tend for have a fondness for poisons and hallucinogens. For this guy’s garb, I looked at a lot of plains indigenous American clothing an weaving, and I wanted to be careful I wasn’t crossing the line into appropriation. So I got in touch with a couple folks from the indigenous American community on twitter, who guided me through a couple changes in the outfit. I’m overall really happy with the result!

My first self-published book!
Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1701841940
Summary:
An average day in Emily Gardner's life includes working as a freelance Spellcaster, tending to her garden full of magical herbs, and training her niece, Victoria, how to cast spells under the moonlight.
Her daily routine is shattered, however, when one day the wind disappears, and the spirit of the sea declares war on the spirit of the moon. Emily must now choose between her duty as a Spellcaster of the Moon and her responsibility to protect her family.
Please reblog if you can <3

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act was passed in 1818 and makes it illegal for people in the US to “take,” which means killing, injuring, or possessing, migratory birds in most circumstances. That includes accidental take, such as in oil spills, bioaccumuliation of poisons, or building on bird habitat.
New proposed rules would make accidental takes legal. This change would mostly impact industries (and of course, the birds that they kill), and has nothing to do with people who pick up bird remains on purpose.

Some artwork I did not long ago for Beyond the Western Deep. The creators will be launching a Kickstarter March 4th for their Volume 2 book! As I understand it, the original pencil art for this piece will be available at one of the pledge tiers.
If you haven’t yet read BtWD, well, please remedy that immediately! From the writing to the world building to the artwork from multiple amazing artists, it’s really a stand-out: Westerndeep.net
