So like, Rand is the chosen one but Mat is a video game pc and it shows in the way that he is constantly receiving quest lines from mysterious individuals, coming into possession of random magic items, is cursed, half of his heroic exploits are him stumbling into situations and needing to fight his way out. And of course- him having romantic/sexual chemistry with every character he meets

Deeply love in Crown of Swords how Birgitte goes "So Mat tells me he breached the Stone of Tear to rescue you from a cell, and you never thanked him."
And when the girls just go "oh he didn't really save us, there was only one of the Black Ajah at the door and the Forsaken had forgotten we were there," Birgitte essentially goes "forget a simple thank you, you should be groveling"

Padan Fain saw Rand at a party and legit came up with The Mist by Stephen King in that second.

Elaida really thinks she's That Bitch. She has no idea she's supporting cast, an antagonist almost always overshadowed by other antagonists. She's convinced she's the Chosen One in a narrative with several actual chosen ones. She relied on the least trustworthy members of the Tower and now has the nerve to be surprised they aren't bowing to her every whim. She's literally building a palace for herself and grows roses and pulls dusty artifacts from old Amyrlins out of storage because she thinks if everything looks the part, then she'll be respected. I am captivated by her cringefail girlbossery.

Mat when he's gambling
Mat when he gets crushed by a wall in aCoS
Mat Nat 20
I can’t stop imagining Mat and his dices rattling around in his brain like him throwing a d20 roll.
His luck just causes him to throw a Nat 20 every time lmao.

I had just realized from reading the reblogs that I’ve completely forgotten about Aran’gar (I don’t remember anything from LoC, except the Asha’man), but her headcannoned as a trans woman is something cool to think about.
I had also forgotten about Min’s powers, and the fact that they’re not related to the One Power, oops. I’ve never really considered Min to be nonbinary tbh, but this headcannon fits imo, considering that she doesn’t channel either Saidin or Saidar.
WoT and nonbinary channelers
There’s something dumb that I’ve been wondering about since I’ve come out as nonbinary: so, there are weird adages about the differences between men and women in The Wheel of Time, like the magic system, where only the men could channel Saidin and the women only Saidar.
So, I’ve wondered if there was a nonbinary person who could channel in WoT, would they channel both Saidin and Saidar? A mix of the two, in some way? Or something else?
I’m currently only on the seventh book still (A Crown of Sword, nothing goddamn plot-wise has happened in this one, and I’m almost done); I know that I shouldn’t expect an author writing in the ’90s/early 2000s to have thought about that stuff tbh, but the brain-rot is getting to me.
#wot#wot book#the wheel of time#nonbinary#min farshaw#Aran'gar#tbh Min not channeling the One Power would be a great explanation of Min being nonbinary

#wot#wot book#the wheel of time#nonbinary#i guess#idk this is kinda dumb#Robert Jordan's books are already painfully gendered (and from the 90s/2000s)#so ik that asking this is useless#But this question has been rotting in my brain for months now

I’ve just realised that warders would be able to feel their aes sedai’s menstrual pains; like, can you imagine being a 30-year-old man and suddenly experiencing period pains for the first time
I just imagine Lan one day feeling a sudden stab in his back and panicking thinking something’s happened to Moiraine but then he finds her perfectly calm, getting on with her day like nothing’s happened, and she just looks at him like
?
oh. yeah, get used to it, that’s not even the worst of it

Reading WoT is a wild experience. You could be vibing to some insane shit in other POVs and be thinking “man, this shit hype! It’s crazy!” then you get to a Rand POV and you’re hit with: “Am I even me? Sometimes I think I’m less Rand and I have to remind myself who I am but even then I don’t believe it. Am I Rand? I don’t think I am.” And you’re sitting there, sweating, squinting at this beyond mentally ill man on the page who’s there for maybe five pages max and then you get Mat’s: “Women are like goats” speech and feel the emotional whiplash equivalent to pulling a rubber band to shoot at a friend and it coming back and wacking you in the eye.

I have a pet theory for Wheel of Time, being: the Dark One is the Creator. There's almost no evidence for this, but it's weird that we see only one trans-dimensional deific being whose mere will can irrevocably alter the fabric of space-time in the entire series without ever bumping into his counterpart.
Also I think it would be a wonderful twist if it turned out that all prayers to the Creator just strengthened the Dark One
