You know what hit me? The fact that bts donated in the first few days, before the protests had started in all 50 states and all across the world. They didn’t even announce it, it wasn’t a publicity stunt or performative in any way. I would bet good money that they where like “there are people who need us, armies too, and we can help them”
it kind of reminds me of namjoons famous ending quote “if I can take your pain down to 99 or 98 percent- then it’s all worth it” (I’m paraphrasing I know), my point is- they saw how they could help from across the world and they helped. I can’t honestly believe that bts would ever be anything other than compassionate whenever they can be, which is why antis comments always seem so out of place?
Like you really chose 7 of the worlds kindest people to attack? When they had one of the most genuine responses to the tragedy of George Floyd’s death? Which was to help first and worry about their image later. it’s one of the reasons why I’ll always stand by them and support them- because they really do care. for all of the makeup and glitz and glamour of Kpop- their love is not just for show, they legitimately want to make the world a better place.

Shoutout to Howl’s Moving Castle for nerfing a ton of my internalized ageism back when I was 13. Like, society saying I’ve gotta be young and beautiful is so much less compelling than seeing Sophie being “90″ and just getting to go absolutely feral.
