For the most part I think Oda's done a good job utilizing the Supernovas, but I am pretty disappointed with how Kidd's story turned out. Oda puts in a lot of legwork this arc setting him up as a foil for Luffy, and it's a sort of narrative promise that doesn't get fulfilled to its ultimate potential. Kidd and Luffy don't interact enough for them to bounce of each other. I could have accepted Kidd getting jobbered as an example of how his brand of hot-headed brute strength doesn't cut it in the political landscape of the New World--kind of like a post time skip Moriah--but that story thread didn't get enough attention to make it feel meaningful, especially compared to how much Law's story completely took over the plot after he skyrocketed in popularity.

It's an example of how Oda making shit up on the spot has its downsides. The Supernovas are Oda planting a bunch of seeds for the future seeing what sprouts up from the mess. It leads to some unexpected surprises like Capone Bege on WCI, but also plot lines that wither on the vine before they can bear any fruit.

When will Oda drop 40 y/o and 60 y/o Law and Kidd sketches in SBS..

I wonder if he's waiting to flesh out Kidd's character in the main story first?

Law's future in bad timeline is definitely a Doffy bootlicker Corazon-Law. Can't wait to see it, I hope we won't be disappointed 😩

Listen, I understand that people like how Bonney was able to form into Nika. I'm happy that YOU like it, YOU can have that opinion. I'm not gonna shit on you for it. But when I say I have mixed feelings on this decision Oda made, don't be an asshole and put me down by saying I'm "a fake fan" or tell me "you're not comprehending" or "Oda does something you don't like so you're just flip-flopping." No, I love One Piece I will always love One Piece, but what happened to being able to question the author without being called a "fake fan"?

I think it's perfectly acceptable to question an author when he or she does something you have mixed feelings about or don't like. What happened to having a conversation like that?

is that piece of media actually bad, or is it just not following the blueprint you projected onto it? is that work actually not good, or are you just demanding something from it that is absolutely antithetical to its themes, genre, tone, and narrative goal? is that story actually poorly written, or do you just dislike that it is not the specific things you wanted from it that it never set out to be, never was, and never is going to become? is it actually bad, or is it actually well-executed and you just dislike the story it chose to be because it isn't catering to your specific desires and expectations?
