Firefly Lane is actually a really good show

And it’s because it’s full of fucked up people. I don’t think there’s a single character who doesn’t have issues, or hasn’t been a shitty person at least once on screen, and it’s amazing. I read comments about the characters being “toxic”, and all I can think of is that some folks really shouldn’t branch out of preschooler programs.

I’m so tired of having to watch characters, especially women, be perfect on screen just to pass muster and be acceptable as fiction. I’m so happy I get to see a real friendship between two women who make so many mistakes, and are so human. I even love fucking Cloud. So gorgeously fleshed out, a bad parent who’s not a caricature, it just makes everything so much more tragic.

Such a good show. Also, Tully has my heart. She reminds me of a friend from uni, I love her to bits.

Also, her friendship with Kate is so fucking real, in all its imperfections. Finally a female friendship done right. Sisters in all but blood.
