coming to the library for work ambience, but everyone else also just whiling away. trying to come into office, but a baseball stadium is getting busy right outside my window. at home, the bed is too inviting / the workspaces are too sterile. in desperate need of a jumpstart of some kind.

i'm trying to write more these days to solve that noxious issue of having forgotten how to write, but i keep getting sidetracked w cUstOmiSing mY oBsiDiAn instead of actually getting any writing done ah fuck

research visit has been approved which means i can finally crack a stupid joke about this city that i've been wanting to make for nearly 15 years

living with @wildsofoccurrence, I'm privy to random stories of her daily shenanigans where she makes up her own descriptive names for individuals. (think porki, chamattu, paavam)

so ingrained are these that when I meet them irl, I invariably forget the actual name.

spring anew

Back to an empty campus. End of year vacation is prime time for construction work – roads are blocked and landscaping vehicles abound. Enjoying the last of an empty library, before mayhem commences next week. With apologies to all the profs at the receiving end of my “syllabus please?” emails in this new year.

Finished up that major climate conference earlier in December and hung back to spend the rest of the year with the in-laws and friends. On the field

The season commences. Everything goes wrong, and then, ever so slowly, turn right again. A 12 hour ordeal, and I’m finally on my way. Baggage seems to be flying with me, same destination. Backyard

The coming week promises to touch 37 deg C and perhaps beyond. I’ve tried to avoid air conditioning as much as possible but this month, after two years, I finally gave in. A short break visiting family in the California Bay, before heading back into the heat and humidity. A brief breeze in the backyard.
