How to make these two meet outside of cpau is something I've genuinely pondered since I was like 15 😭 This is in part because, while cpau technically works, I'd personally like their first meeting to be a bit more... serious? Like... I saw a geno vs reaper fight animation on yt that, imo, was really good in how it portrayed their first encounter. Because of course Reaper, given his canon experiences in the reapertale comic, would see an anomoly like Geno and have his first instinct be to finish the job before discovering he can't actually do that. And I think only after that realization would you have the more fun silly dynamic we see between them in cpau. I do think depending on how you do the timeline of their encounters you CAN have your cake and eat it too (in terms of keeping both goofy cpau moments and having more serious/grounded interactions). And of course their environment can affect their dynamic too. Like, they might act one way towards eachother in a room full of people but a very different way when just one-on-one. But whats always bothered me is that even if we DO assume they meet during cpau, HOW do they meet after? Like how is Reaper traversing between universes and getting to the save screen in the first place? I know its silly to look for logic and reason with a cross-dimensional undertale sans au ship but damn it if im not a sucker for canon compliance Something I have seen people do is have Geno be one of the souls Reaper is sent to collect for his job, but... thats never really been satisfying to me? Because its hard to believe reaper has any dominion over souls outside of his own universe. Like im pretty sure when he was created it wasnt with the intent of sending him out into the multiverse so...

i want to write afterdeath so bad but i don't know how to make them meet except for the cpau incident lmao

and like in that instance, i don't know if geno appreciates reaper jokingly threatening at!sans' life (we need a name for him). like, the comedic value of sans dying the moment he leaves the save screen is too much i can't resist it. but also cpau is comedy and aftertale is serious, so i don't know how to properly mesh these two tones together.

afterdeath as a romcom would be so peak. imagine after the cpau happening, geno wakes up with a throbbing headache and his phone has a message like "last night was great, babe <3" from an unknown contact. like, geno totally freaks out and asks his sans and papyrus what happened at the party. papyrus was sober but he doesn't know anything. sans was so drunk on that eggnog because of the whole scifell thing and he doesn't want to know what happened with geno for his own sanity.

meanwhile reaper is giggling and chatting with life about his "new boo" (they actually didn't do anything last night reaper just likes to fuck with geno lmao). life is glad that reaper has some fun time off work and asks if reaper wants to include geno in their relationship. reaper is like "... wait, do i actually like that mortal?... nah, no way. i mean he's kinda cute but- wait what did i just think".

and then the new year party is held with another batch of invites sent.
