Frank Mertens ( real name : Frank Sorgatz) is one of Alphaville's founding members. He was born 26th October 1961in Enger (Germany) and is a keyboardist and composer. Besides, he is able to play the piano, synthesizers, keyboards and the guitar, had piano lessons. After Frank Mertens left Alphaville in December 1984, he founded the group "Lonely Boys" with his girlfriend Martine Lille ( real name : Martina Richter) and Felix Lille (real name : Felix Schulte). Sadly, this project wasn't very successful, so they just released two songs called "Lonely Boy" and "Hold me". The band existed from 1984 till 1987. Then, in 1991, he moved to Paris and after that, since 1996, he lives in Cologne. Today, Frank Merstens works on the project "maelstorm" in which he does electronic music and paint paintings.

Bernhard Lloyd (real name : Bernd Gössling) is one of the founding members of Alphaville. He was born 2nd June 1960 in Enger (Germany) responsible for the rythm and the melody. In 2003, Bernhard Lloyd left Alphaville. However, he's still in the music business today. He works as a music producer in Berlin and with Max Holler on the music project "Atlantic Popes". In 2000, he and Max Holler released the first album "Atlantic Popes" Alphaville - fans like.

Marian Gold (real name : Hartwig Schierbaum) is the singer of Alphaville and writes the lyrics for Alphaville’s songs. He was born on 26th May 1954 in Herford (Germany) and is the only founding member who’s still in the band. Besides, his idol was David Bowie he was fascinated of since the first time he has seen him. On one of his solo albums, “United”, he covered Bowie’s song “Five Years” and he also sang an extract of his song “Starman” on a German radio station. First, he was in love with pop music and later, he got interested in experimental music (Pink Floyd). His first solo album is called “So Long Celeste” which also includes two cover songs. In addition, his father had a factory and he was part of the military which he left because of an argument. Now, he is the father of seven children from four different mothers.
