You know. Some of you really, genuinely hate TSC and Jerejean, and while that could never be me - ultimately it's fine, you're a free person, whatever. But do you people realize you DON'T HAVE TO read Jean's trilogy if it's that terrible in your opinion? No one is forcing you to read and keep reading it, or to enjoy it and you can literally just pretend that TKM was the last book in the series and focus on the things in the aftg universe that you actually LIKE.
Crazy concept, right?
See, if you believe that the only interesting pairing is Andreil (or whoever is that you ship) and that OG trilogy was peak literature while TSC is utter garbage - why are you still reading the new books? Why come here to waste your precious time writing anonymous confessions on how much you dislike TSC and how Jerejean suck when you could be happily writing/reading Andreil or whatever is that you like? This shit is not even creating any sort of discourse, it's just hating for the sake of hating, and creating unnecessary negativity in this already divided fandom.
So, I don't know, I'm not here to tell you what you can and cannot do but...
Maybe try to reevaluate what you want to put your energy into, hm?

I'm sorry but I need people in this fandom to stop explaining away characters flaws. Serious, narrative changing flaws. "Neil isn't undersocialized and unreliable as a narrator haha he's just emo" "Andrew isn't mentally ill he was just on meds he acts fine after and he loves Exy and wants to marry Neil" "Kevin isn't a coward he was forced to do all these things and he would have protected Jean if he could" STOP! Stop pretending that flaws make a character bad or unlikeable. Please. Accept that these people have done very deep wrongs in their lives. It won't kill you, it will make you like them more.

Nora should’ve written a Robin Cross spinoff versus a Jean-focused one and I’m being 100% serious

If Kevin was the one Jean actually still liked, his favorite color would be green

I don’t know why people are in the fandom if they don’t like trauma porn. These books cater to people who need those extremes. It’s okay if that’s not you but quit getting on your high horse to judge people who need/enjoy it.

I feel like TSC, aside from Jean’s whimsical torture porn backstory, reads like a basic gay book with only 4 characters: the insta-attraction main couple and their two supportive female friends. Think Carry On, Red, White & Royal Blue, or Ari and Dante. Everyone else just feels like background LGBTQ white noise

I do not see Jeremy/Jean as a permanent thing. I’m not undervaluing the importance that Jeremy and the rest of the Trojans have in helping Jean heal and grow because I do think they are absolutely instrumental in that. And I think they make a cute couple! But there are differences between them that I have a really hard time seeing a good way to resolve and have them communicating and understanding each other on the same wavelength long term.

I don't like the nickname Drew for Andrew, and I'm a little tired of it being so overused in fics.
Like I get it, him allowing someone (more than likely just Neil) to shorten his name is a step towards his overall healing journey (seeing as every other nickname he has had growing up has been connected to his overall trauma), but there is just something about that nickname in particular that gets on my nerves.
And it has nothing to do with the name in general. The name Drew is fine by itself, but Andrew doesn't give off Drew vibes (to me).
I don't know why it bothers me so much (it's really a small and irrational thing to find annoying), but I needed to get this off my chest.

IMO, Kevin is the most mischaracterized character in this entire fandom. Both Kevin fans and Kevin-“anti’s” rule Kevin down into only his charitable or uncharitable traits, and it is so, so frustrating.
It is so rare for someone to focus on Kevin, in fic or just textpost, and it actually feel true to the way Nora originally wrote him. I thought the release of the new books, especially with the way Kevin stayed true to most of his original characterizations, would help this, but I think it made everyone worse and more argumentative because it doesn’t play out with the way they view him or want others to view him.
This entire fandom has one of the worst mischaracterization problems I’ve ever seen, but with Kevin it is genuinely horrific. So many people have corrupted his character to the point many people’s fanon interpretations have completely convoluted his canonical way of being.
(People can have as many fanon interpretations as they want, but the second you start saying no, this is canon while holding the same attitude as the person you’re disagreeing with, while having no room for grey area, is when you start becoming a carbon copy of each other.
Neil and Andrew are sometimes characterized better than Kevin ever is, and I think so much of it comes down to how Kevin is just as flawed as Neil/Andrew, but he has never received the same grace for it during the entire timeframe of this fandom, all due to the original novels being in Neil’s perspective, how charitable Neil is to Andrew, and Kevin’s general personality and also canonical actions. ((Aaron has a similar problem.)) Kevin fans being frustrated with this is beyond understandable, but I think they might’ve developed an entitlement and resentment due to it, which just makes them insufferable to interact with, which makes Kevin-anti’s insufferable as well. Everything’s cause and effect.)

I saw that rainbow crate was doing another release of the aftg special editions and I was really excited and considering buying them (despite the fact that I never buy special editions of anything) until I found out that the covers I had seen weren't the real covers but just the dustjackets. And now I'm not sure if I want to buy them anymore. I love the dustjacket covers but I don't like how the hardback covers look underneath. It annoys me how the sprayed edges match the dustjacket design but not the hardback design. And I simply prefer the illustration style and overall design of the dustjackets over the hardback covers because it's more my personal tastes. And this would all be fine if it wasn't for the fact that I sort of simply hate dustjackets in general. I don't like the look of books with dustjackets on and I find them inconvenient because they get in the way when reading so then I have to take them off and I just don't understand why they're the standard, but I digress.
I know that I'm nitpicking but these small things really do bother me. And it's disappointing because I really think the special editions are beautiful but now that I've noticed these things I don't think they're for me. So this is my hate letter against dustjackets as a concept as I wait for the day that someone makes a special edition with beautiful art and no dustjackets at all

kevin would totally do the buzzfeed 'kevin day reads thirst tweets'
he'd probably be traumatised after that, but hey, he's such a queen it would boost his ego for a moment, it fits him so much
