Canaries should stay above ground. Not worrying about what lies beneath the categories and folders and poorly-managed wiring. Doing their job and collecting a paycheck. Not letting the contents of the things they file get to them. Anglerfish. Luring unsuspecting things like you into something far more incomprehensible than you expected. The murky water hides how deep the lake truly is, what lies beneath the surface, waiting to be discovered. Waiting to be unleashed.

okay follow my train of logic here
Gwen compelled Ink5oul
reading/being read cases has a similar/the same effect as reading statements
the OIAR has a high turnover rate
people leave the OIAR because they become avatars/externals
Teddy left the OIAR
Teddy was acting shifty and “coincidentally” hanging around near the OIAR in tmagp18
Teddy is an avatar

kind of obsessed with how Jonny and Alex select real historical figures and stick them into their horror multiverse as fear avatars. assigned “freak” by rusty quill

Martin: My crush has gone through something traumatic and doesn't seem to be doing too well. I'm gonna make sure I pay attention to him and try and help. 🤗
Jon: Martin(derogatory) is going to kill me

Being a magnus archives veteran listening to protocol is like being Pavlov’s dog trained to 20 different bell tones, being starved for three whole years, and all of a sudden your owner is ringing all 20 bells but there’s still no food

ive got to say, i think the biggest difference between TMA and TMAGP is subtlety. it makes sense -- no-one knew what was going to happen in TMA, so they were able to have more subtle details. but in TMAGP, most of the audience knows what happened in the world it is related to. they know about the fears and what to expect of avatars and how to recognise them, etc. most people know the basics. so its not much use being subtle about it.
and we can see this in things as simple as the intro music. TMA was violins that put you on edge without really telling you why, but TMAGP is much louder and sudden -- much less elegant and more abrasive and menacing.
