How plywood is changing your kitchen design?
When and where do you think the plywood was introduced? Plywood is made of veneers, top-grade resin and other adhesives. These adhesives and veneers are used to glue together the sheets of plywood. The very first occurrence of layered wood dates back to Egypt, in 1500 BC. Just trying to say that plywood is not something new and has a decade long history to say. Nonetheless, in America, in 1928 invented the first standardised sheets of plywood. Plywood consists of thin sheets of wood (also known as wood veneer) and adhesive. There are different types of plywood manufactured particularly for kitchen and associated purposes. The BWR(Boiling Water-Resistant) Plywood is highly resistant to water and moisture. Meet the perfect sustainable kitchen design material
Tumblr media
Sustainability- Something we look forward to every now and then. Most of you would be workers- Be it in a company or even a housewife. We are working harder and harder to make a living. The negative thoughts and headaches shouldn't stop us from being happy and living a healthier life. Use woods from sustainable sources- Save ourselves and nature. Different plywood companies, nowadays, are choosing the way of a sustainable lifestyle and tries to give back to nature. The manufacturing of sustainable plywood is one such result. Due to the advancement in the field of engineering, kitchen design using plywood is at the forefront of home sustainability.
Given the IS certification of 303, BWR plywood has a higher quality considering the interior grade MR(Moisture-Resistant) plywood. Layers and adhesives are used to bind together the sheets of the plywood to strengthen the plywood in terms of its water resistance capacity. Due to the addition of top-quality adhesives, boiling water-resistant plywood will last longer. In other words, they are probe to little damage. The structural organisation of the veneer is another factor that gives more strength and resistance against humidity and atmospheric moisture.
How can plywood be sustainable?
The sustainability of plywood is determined not only by how the wood is being sourced but also by the manufacturing process. The manufacturing process and the types of wood are used together to determine the sustainability of plywood. Formaldehyde was once excessively used in the production of plywood. However, its use has been reduced since 1979. The affordability of plywood compared to solid wood and others make the customers choose them. Boiling Water-resistant plywood is suitable for the kitchen and associated places. These are also suitable for designing wardrobes

Everything you need to know about plywood
So, plywood basically is made from either hardwood or softwood. Plywood made of softwood is not naturally strong. However, once you add adhesives and glue it together, it can even overpower inherently dominant hardwood marine plywood. Plywood is a combination of thin layers or plies. They are bonded together by wood veneer. This veneer can be of fine quality to below-average quality. The strength of plywood depends on its thickness/density. Two main ingredients in plywood are wood veneer and the binding resin. The quality of resin and veneer determines the durability factor of the plywood. Hardwood plywood is inherently tougher because of its unique structure.
The manufacturing of plywood is explained below:
01) The first step is to peel off the wood veneers before binding them together.
02) Applying glue to bind the layers together is the second step. This is where the layers attach concurrently and deliver the strength it actually is looking for.
03) The third step involves pressurising the plywood sheets together to form a composite. Now, this process of pressurising the sheets is a two-three days-long process.
What Are The Uses Of Plywood Grade?
For interior needs, you may prefer commercial moisture-resistant grade plywood. Interior indicates the plywood can be used in your home, office furniture and so on.
Boiling water-resistant plywood is particularly made for interior purposes as it can withstand water and moisture for a very long time. However, this is suitable anywhere near water.
Tumblr media
Marine plywood is, so far, the thickest and can withstand any wear and tear. This is used in the kitchen and associated areas as well as in the building of ships, boats, sun decks etc. Marine plywood can withstand water for a long time and will undergo umpteen tests before receiving the ISI approval.
Fire retardant plywood is designed to prevent any spark, ignition and to lower the amount of smoke emitted. This one is ideal to use in places like restaurants, theatres, cinema halls, shopping malls etc.
Film Faced Shuttering Plywood Construction, heavy commercial vehicle and Truck Bodies, Roofing, Repair and Maintenance of Buildings, Bridges, building, metro rail track projects, lofts, Beams, Fly-overs, water tanks, cooling towers, flyovers and mezzanine floors. Film faced shuttering plywood is manufactured specifically for construction and cement related works. It has a high load-bearing capacity and is eligible to be used in bridges, buildings, beams, flyovers, metro rail track projects, lofts, cooling towers, mezzanine floors etc.
Plywood Causing Cancer?
Resin, the binding glue used to bind the layers in plywood contains material that has been correlated with causing cancer like illnesses. It is therefore advised that the carpenter needs to wear a mask whilst working on the wood, be it marine plywood or film faced. Nonetheless, a normal customer is not a risk as he/she will be away from the manufacturer during the process. A type of dust called sawdust is a cancer-causing element and it shouldn't be inhaled. So, make sure that your carpenter is wearing a mask. Every life is vital.

How to use plywood in the kitchen?
Go, take a look at the households. Plywood is vital. Plywood boards are applicable on almost all bases nowadays. Among these, plywood boards maintain a safe space. When it comes to construction, cement works or furniture, plywood boards are preferred. For safety, it is fire retardant plywood.
You can make use of this list of plywood boards. You don’t have to worry about damage or rotting:
BWP Grade or Waterproof Plywood
BWP grade plywood stands for boiling waterproof plywood, which is known to be completely water-resistant. Boiling Water Plywood is made of higher quality considering the interior grade moisture resistant ability.
It has high water resistant capacity. Layers and adhesives used in Boiling Water-Resistant. Boiling Water Resistant lasts longer than usual because of its thickness and high density.
Tumblr media
For this reason, boiling water plywood is prone to minimal damage. Veneer has a balanced structural organisation. This unique arrangement gives them more strength. Boiling water-resistant plywood for Kitchen can withstand humidity and atmospheric moisture. Boiling water-resistant plywood is suitable for the kitchen and associated areas. Boiling water-resistant plywood is Ideal for designer wardrobes. This improves the aesthetics of your rooms. This plywood is suitable for both outdoor and indoor spaces.
2. Marine Grade Plywood
Marine-grade plywood uses quad press technology that produces a warp-free, super-strong bond with zero surface core gap.
Tumblr media
Normally, marine plywood undergoes three types of treatments during its manufacturing process. As it is bonded with superior quality resin, the layers glued work efficiently. Most of this plywood is free of toxins as it sustains Vacuum Pressure Treatment. As a result, they are eco-friendly and produces a super smooth surface. Marine plywood ensures the quality and durability of the furniture is resistant to the borer.
3. Fire Retardant Plywood
Fire Retardant Plywood is made of high-density hardwood veneers. These are treated with fire-retardant chemicals.
Tumblr media
This fire retardant Plywood is resistant to extreme fire conditions. This is designed to resist sparks, ignite without penetration and lower the pace of smoke. Any chance of leak and spread of fire is reduced. Fire retardant plywood undergoes various tests to check the flammability, rate of burning and flames to penetrate the plywood as per the Bureau Of Indian Standards. This plywood is advised to set near areas of fire and heat and is perfect for the kitchen and associated areas. Public spaces like cinema halls, shopping malls, restaurants, train compartments, bus coaches, ships etc. can make use of this plywood. When it comes to safety, fire retardant plywood is a fine choice and can be set for the interior of home and office.

All the Reason for Choosing Flush door
Flushdoors are one of the greatest modern gifts to humankind.
People, for centuries, have been using normal doors made from traditional wood that are susceptible to moisture, scratches, and much dirt.
Tumblr media
Flushdoor manufacturers solve these problems by engineering wood to make doors more durable and resistant to weather impacts.
Here are some reasons to choose flushdoors over those normal doors:
1) A traditional door is less stable than a flush door because of the presence of many wooden panels and pieces.
2) The ease of construction makes the flushdoor much more economical than the traditional door.
3) A flushdoor can resist twists and rotations with excellent stability because of the single solid wooden structure.
4) A flush door offers excellent resistance against scratches, stains, or environmental damages caused by humidity.
5) Flushdoor adds a trendy, minimal look over the boring feel of a normal door.
6) Traditional doors have multiple pieces on top of the solid core material. The solid core of a flush door can limit the movement of noise/heat and works as a great insulator.
7) The larger and uniform frame alongside the compact solid wood fillers makes the flush door stronger.
8) Dust particles do not settle easily over the clean and smooth face of a flush door. Hence, it is easier for you to clean the flush doors and maintain a sanitized ambience.
9) Flushdoors are moisture-resistant and don’t warp or swell like traditional doors.
10) They are very easy to install.
Why should you choose Afyun?

Difference between plywood and plyboard
For the longest time, people have confused plywood and plyboard (blockboard) to be the same and have used plywood in areas that required ply boards. Here, we will discuss what makes the plyboard unique and what differentiates it from plywood.  Read on to find out where to use and find the best blockboard manufacturer in Bangalore!
Plyboard is made of soft-bodied veneers that have been glued and pressed under high pressure. It Is generally used to cover large areas like tables, walls and used to build shelves. They are also resistant to warping and hold good precision screw holding ability for crafting.
● Plywood is often used to make furniture but it has a tendency to sag or bend if used to cover huge areas. Ply boards are ideal for such areas. It is often preferred over plywood for areas where longer pieces of wood are required to make furniture like long tables, benches, panels, partitions, etc.
● Plywood is made up of several veneers glued together and hot-pressed to make a ply while block boards have a timber frame in which wooden strips are placed edge to edge sandwiched between 2 layers.
● Block boards are often much lighter in weight and are preferable over plywood to fix on walls and as hoisted cabinets.
● The appearance of both look the same and they can only be differentiated by looking at the edges. Plywood will have the appearance of layers glued together while block boards look like one single block of wood.
The question that comes to our minds after reading, is naturally where do we get the best plywood and block boards?
At Afyun, we make the best wood products by a 3 step processing stage followed by Hotpress and Cold Press. We then calibrate our wood for the best precision, finishing with final treatment and sanding.
What makes us the best blockboard manufacturer in Bangalore, you ask?
Afyun Block Boards are made of high-quality pine timbers from New Zealand and Switzerland which not only enhance the strength of the blockboard but also makes them impenetrable for insects and fungus. Afyun Block Boards come in two grades, the MR (Moisture Resistant) and the BWP (Boiling Water Proof) and are perfect for lengthy wall panels, doors, wooden roofing solutions, cupboards, furniture, tables etc.
Afyun Block Boards are produced by sandwiching wooden strips placed edge to edge between two layers of plywood. This process makes the Block Board sturdier and structurally balanced

What is fire retardant plywood?
What is fire retardant plywood?
Fire retardant plywood prices are usually a little greater than normal commercial grade plywood. A lot of us would’ve wondered why this is so? or, Do we need fire retardant plywood?
The answers to the above question and what exactly fire retardant plywood is will be discussed here.
Tumblr media
Fire retardant plywood is a great way to reduce fire outbreaks and minimize the spread of the fire in the event of a breakout. We at Afyun Plywood do this by applying a coating of chemicals over the wood that makes the ignition of wood very slow. Fire retardant plywood is not non-combustible but can be used in places that require heat resistant materials.
It is made very resistant to combustion by treating the plywood with chemicals which increases the time for ignition and prevents the spread of one. The chemicals are applied in such a way that the natural look of wood is not damaged and natural attractive colour remains, keeping the beauty of wood intact. Due to the treatment and application of the chemicals, it is more expensive than normal plywood but is a must in type 3 and type 4 constructions as specified by the International Building Code.
Combustible wood is generally much more affordable than Fire retardant wood, as it does not require to be treated as much. In certain locations like woods, near electric poles, areas where spontaneous fires start due to heat, it is much better and safer to use fire retardant plywood as it increases safety and comfort.
There are certain times when it only practical to use fire retardant plywood as it is required by law to be used in high fire risk areas and not using them or using normal wood in those areas are hazardous and illegal.
These include:
● Exterior walls
● Frames of structures
● Roofs
It is also important to note that painting of fire retardant material is to be done correctly as incorrect painting may damage the fire-resistant properties of the plywood.
At Afyun, we make our fire retardant plywood, weather and moisture resistant as well, ensuring that the price is justified.
Our Treatment:
The Fire retardant plywood is composed of high-density hardwood veneers that are treated with fire-retardant chemicals during the manufacturing process.
This treatment makes the plies resistant to extreme fire conditions. They are designed to resist sparks, ignite without any penetration and lower the pace of smoke generation in case of a fire. Any chance of leak and spread of fire is also reduced by these fire-retardant plies. They undergo various tests to check regularities like flammability, rate of burning and flames to penetrate the plywood, etc as per the Bureau of India Standards.
 Quality:
Our products undergo a 4 step testing procedure that ensures the best quality of our plywood.
● Our fire-resistant plywood only has a maximum of 20 %, moisture content.
● The time taken for flammability is not less than 30 min, which is the leader in the industry.
● Time taken for flame penetration shall not be less than 15t/6 min, where ‘t’ is the thickness of plywood.
● Time taken to lose weight from 30% to 70% shall not be less than 20min.
  Why should you choose us?
 ● At Afyun, we ensure standardisation at every step amongst both the Indian and the global standards to get our products certified by the International Organization of Standardization.
● We manufacture our products through a 3 step processing treatment that helps in making the plywood non-hazardous, and thus optimizes the quality and reliability of the plywood.
● We deliver fine and precise plywood through our Hot-Cold press technique that makes the product structurally balanced while maintaining impressive density throughout the corners.
● Since our inception in 2001, Afyun is committed to delivering high-quality plywood to our customers. We pride ourselves in our quality assurance, product accountability and unparalleled customer service.
We also produce customizable plywood and deliver it directly to the customer cutting dealership costs and making our products more affordable.
What are you waiting for then?

Top 5 Brands for the flush door in India
Top 5 Brands for the flush door in India
Planning to build a new house or replacing that old and worn-out door? In any case, flush doors are indeed a good choice. Before heading into the brands that offer the best flush doors, have an idea about what flush doors are!
Tumblr media
Flush doors are plain faced on both sides and are made up of a single wood piece, unlike Panel doors. Usually made of a frame of timber enclosed by plywood or even Medium Density Fibreboards(MDF). There are a lot of compelling reasons to go for flush doors rather than any other types of doors available in the market. hey are of simple design with no joints.  Which makes it very convenient to clean and maintain. Also, flush doors are highly durable and have less maintenance cost. Which is not possible in the case of panel doors. Thus flush doors are highly sought after for indoor uses. Another advantage which is worth mentioning is how scratch and stain immune they are. Because of its minimal and straightforward design, they are chosen for functionality rather than as a statement door. The thickness of flush doors ranges from 25mm, to 35mm. However, the thickness can also be customised according to the needs.  Well diving deep into the details, there are three types of flush doors.
a) Solid Core
Solid core, otherwise known as Laminated core is the most popular and strong flush door. They're built with solid wood inside with mostly blockboards, MDF etc... Due to the denser property, they're more soundproof.
b) Hollow Core
Hollow Core, as articulated in the name, is hollow inside with a honeycomb-like structure. In this type, vertical wood battens are arranged with a horizontal rail in the middle. This creates hollow space in the middle
c) Cellular Core
In this type, wood battens are arranged vertically and horizontally in a denser manner. And this creates a cell-like structure. This is a moderate choice when it comes to strength. Stronger than the Hollow Core but stands a step behind Solid Core.
Now let's have a glance into the five best flush door brands in India.
 1. Afyun Plywoods.
Afyun plywoods based in South India, launched in 2001 has succeeded in creating goodwill and significant reputation in the plywood industry. Our different brands provide different features to meet the unique needs of the customer, and with all of them, ISI certified.
 2. Greenply Industries Limited.
One of the most popular brands in India, Greenply is a trusted plywood manufacturer in India. Their products guarantee premium quality and they are a one-stop solution for plywood needs. And was established in 1992. They're also India's largest interior infrastructure. And has bagged numerous awards and certification.

All About Shuttering
Have you ever visited a construction site? Shuttering or formwork is the main process you could see there. So what's a shuttering or a formwork? They are temporary additional structure or a mould construction done, just to keep the concrete or related material in position. That is, they are used as structures to concrete a beam.
Timber was used for making formworks. They were cheap and can be reused many times. But the main problem with timber is that they used to swell or shrink due to the water content in the concrete material. So, constructors had switched to steel formworks. But they are costly and can't be used easily. Then, the most effective material found is plywoods. Plywoods are of different types.
Tumblr media
The ones used for construction works are called as Shuttering Plywoods. They are manufactured from softwood, but are of light weight and good strength. High resistance to humidity is one of its highlights. Therefore they are suitable for highly humid prone areas. They are environment friendly too. They are similar to any other plywood or wooden panel, made up of thin sheets layered top by top and glued together. Therefore they are good in strength and would not split fast. They are cheaper, light in weight, waterproof and can be reused several times. They never shrink or swell or get destroyed easily. Moreover they are strong enough to carry as much as concrete load, and deflection seen is minimum compared to other materials. They are smooth in nature and also provides easy stripping.
Afyun is a leading plywood dealer in Bangalore. We provide you the best quality Shuttering Plywoods for all your needs.
