IMPROVMENTS
- Time management for editing the video
- Learning more in-depth technical skills about cameras and become confident with using them
- Practice and grow my creative direction
- Exploring locations to shoot outside of Leeds
- Take more risks to get a better more interesting shot that communicates a story (safety)
- Confidence as before I was hesitant but now I know can turn out some satisfactory work I would like to try again and expand ideas
- Planning/ picking a concept. Had to re-start project as my original idea fell through (male femininity) due to not enough models being willing to shoot with the garments I needed such as dresses, skirts and chest nudity potential causing emotional damage to models.

Inspiration took from HypeBeast publication who would be a potential competitor. Most of their streetwear shoots show different genders wearing the same garments or similar fitted ones which I wanted to communicate in my film.

CONCEPT - FILM
The story line of the film will show clips of a LGBTQ bisexual male and homosexual female, the garments and silhouette they present symbolises the fact that streetwear is not specific to one gender and that you cannot differantiate gender in this genre of fashion.
The story lines includes the showing of the two models bodies before you see their face or distinctive features, focusing on unidentifiable body parts which are made hard to recognisable by baggy streetwear garments that are unisex.
By the end of the film the models faces are revealed. The point of the video is to not guess their gender or highlight it but just observe how streetwear can be non binary and used best for agender.

Some images captured from Gender Video.
- Balaclava conveys the hiding of face and that facial features are hid to hide obvious gender working with the baggy fit garments which are unidentifiable to a specific gender.
- The balaclava and flowers are props which are linked to typically masc or femme stereos-types however being unaware of the models gender the props become universal in that way to all genders.
- Top image is edited to be made grainy to fit the theme of distortion and not being able to articulate gender or features.

Garments used in shoot include
- Zip-Up Jacket
- Baggy cargos and trousers
- Trainers coloured black, red and orange universal colours
- Man bag/ cross body bag
All of which, both genders are able to wear and style individually due to the baggy silhouette avoiding gender specific garments such as
- Handbags
- Tight vest tops/ crop tops
- Platform/ healed shoes
- Skirts/ tight dresses

Technical Experimenting - Editing in photoshop
- Darkening the face but keeping the facial features diminishes how obvious the models gender is or how this is non-defining.
- Devil horns and tail communicate the toxic views of society and how unisex streetwear clothing is for all genders to immersive themselves in.

Another Image showing the development of final image - Edited in Photoshop
- Edited fisheye lens is used to show issues surrounding body image and how a certain body image is labeled to a gender. For example, a women model with her face and body distorted in photoshop violates norms of social media editing in regards to modern female beauty standards.
- The pose of open legs violates the societal norms of how women should sit/ stance as the pose is harsh and manly not considered feminine or timid. Juxtaposition is created in the image as even though women aren't expected to sit or pose in this way, toxic male societal views expect this sexuality from women.
- Female model sat between another models legs leaves questions to the models gender? If male, would female model sat between the legs suggest a certain dominance?

Image showing development to final image - edited in Photoshop.
- Hue and saturation new layer created to enhance the green colour and make it more vibrant
- Made the background darker and colourless to make the green pop out of the image highlighting technical skills.
- Green colour is symbolic of a unisex colour and suggests how the parallels between gender and colour are meaningless.
- Hiding of the face is key to the narrative as the question of how obvious the models gender is unanswered and is not obvious by the clothes that they are wearing.

Practical Primary Research - Exploring image making using urban location
Shooting down a street or casual setting emphasises how streetwear can be worn by everyone and by everyday people, provoking togetherness in unisex clothing.

Example of unsuccessful shoot as images aren’t focused and the lighting is not satisfactory.
Can be improved by
- Adjusting aperture on camera settings
- Do multiple shoots in and out the exposure of the sun
- Take more photos

Practical Primary Research - Exploring lighting in image making.
- Side lighting is used to hide parts of the face and brighten up other features drawing attention away from typical ‘male’ features.
- Exploring the capturing of logos such as TN, Nike Town, Nike Swoosh Tick, Burberry and Palace.

Practical Primary Research - Using studio and testing poses exploring elements of image making communicating narrative.
Technical Skills - Editing lighting in photoshop used by shining a light through a massive toilet roll tube from a far distance with different coloured over lays used from a quality street chocolate box. Colour and vibrance was edited in particular.
Editing and distortion of the face symbolises the masking of gender and non defining model’s features.
The fainter repeated version of the model edited in photoshop symbolises the unknown side of the model wether that be gender, sexuality or can be open to interpretation.
