Lucky Number 13
20K posts
I've been a fan of comics, pulps, and some TV shows since I was a kid, and now someone's made the mistake of giving me a blog where I can post things. A recipe for disaster. Hi, my name is Eve. Tip jar:

Today's link! Yesterday, Sharon and Steve got over 20 votes, so they're gaining traction!

There's a reddit poll for top couples in Marvel Comics. There's a new one each day, but today's... has Sharon and Steve tied with Xavier and his wheelchair. So if you want to vote for them, please do! I'll try and keep posting the link each day until we (hopefully) make it!

And regarding Sharon:
Steve asked her out and she turned him down.
She was willing to lose everything she built twice - to fight Hydra in Winter Soldier and commit treason so Steve, Sam, and Bucky could destroy the other winter soldiers before they wreaked havoc.
She saved Bucky's life by getting Steve and Sam the intel they needed before the kill order on Bucky went through.
Steve kissed her and she went on the run immediately after.
Her motivation was never Steve. She never pursued Steve. He pursued her. She always tried to do what was right. And him abandoning her without a pardon... it's like he's punishing her for not being more into him.
But then when you realize that Steve goes back to Peggy who:
Shot at him when he didn't know if she shield would work because she saw him kissing another woman. (I maintain this is not romantic. Shooting at someone because you're angry with them and want to scare them isn't romantic.)
Hired the Hydra scientist who tortured Bucky.
Worked alongside Hydra for decades seemingly without noticing anything amiss. For decades.
Accepted what happened to the Starks as an accident when the security camera that was there one day and gone the next should have been enough reason for her to question everything...
Something stinks.
to be honest, steve rogers was toxic.
did you see what he did to tony in siberia? that was wholly uncalled for
steve overreacted about a lot of the accords stuff + didn't stop to think for a lot of it
dragged bucky, fresh out of mind control and feeling shitty, along with him.
completely missed the fact that tony, who agreed that heroes needed more restraint, was actively working to loosen the accords.
steve didnt tell tony about how bucky killed his parents, and didn't even try to explain the mind control to him.
dont even get me started about "im with you to the end of the line."
he leaves bucky in endgame for a girl whose grand-niece he made out with.
if thats not even mildly fucked-up, idk what is.
gave the shield to sam, and while, dont get me wrong, sam is great for it and is a great cap
but right in front of your ex-gay situationship best friend who probably has abandonment issues? im also mad abt how he treated bucky but thats a rabbit hole for another time
thats very insensitive
now, as a character, steve rogers is well thought-out. he has flaws but he still tries to do what is right. comics steve rogers is a good character, for the most part. i dont see him as toxic as mcu steve.
also, i dont really think that this is just 'him assimilating to modern culture,' and 'the cultural norms were different back in the 30s' okay??? he can be less insensitive???

GET. AI. OUT. OF. FANDOM. Stop making headcanons with it, stop making fanfic with it, stop making fanart with it. If I see one more "asking chatgpt *blank* about *character/characters in a fandom* I'm going to lose my goddamn mind. Use your own fucking brain, stop asking AI to do everything. You could even ask other real people what they think. Just. Stop. Using. AI. In. Creative. Spaces.

Another thing that really bothers me: the way the mcu treats Natasha Romanoff & Sharon Carter should be a crime.
They cut Natasha out of absolutely everything (like in What If...?), and I don’t even need to mention how terrible Sharon is treated. She’s such an important character in the comics, but they turned her into a villain because of a ship and their inability to properly handle her character.

Introducing Staron Week!
Coming May 12-16, 2025!
A celebration of Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter and their wonderful romance.
I'm Rain, and I love Staron, and I hope you do too! Stay tuned for the posting of prompts.
(And yes, I picked this week because Emily Vancamp's birthday is May 12th. :))
