yap session below abt stigmatization of masturbation and nude bodies

1: masturbation, while such a universal thing for people (especially teenagers) to do, is so heavily stigmatized

this leads to ppl doing it in private, not telling many people about it, and developing some fairly unhealthy habits

exhibit a: porn

porn degrades the brain's grey matter, used for decision making and such. to a still-developing teen, this is rather useful to keep untouched

you know what still-developing hormonal teens enjoy a lot? pornography!

this is detrimental to a lot of people's developments, and leads to less than desirable critical thinking skills for someone who is still developing.

the reason this is so rampant is because, again, people view masturbation as a taboo topic to talk about, which is incredibly dumb for reasons stated prior. with it being taboo, and leading people to develop unhealthy habits. this also gives people some unhealthy worldviews on people, specifically women.

i won't beat around the bush, women are the #1 most seen sex on porn. whether that be trans or cis women, they are still a VERY large majority of porn consumed. this leads to people (especially young men) viewing women as more of a sex object than actual people, encouraging a LOT of sexual violence as they are seen as "less than human"

this is ALSO rarely talked about, since again, heavy stigma against talking about ANY of this.

a lot of this is due to terrible sex education, and if we as a society were more open about a near universal experience for teens, most of this wouldn't happen. once we start recognizing this issue, we could work on better ways to help with masturbation thats not porn.

2: nude bodies

this also ties into porn, but the female nude body has been so hypersexualized that it's not even funny. People will see a stem and go rabid. a lot of this stems from women being forced to dress "modestly", and them not doing so is them "asking for" (fucking disgusting) something to happen to them. since they are seen as sex objects moreso than people as I discussed earlier, this problem gets larger. it also leads to women being marginalized, since people don't see their value outside of sex. I believe a fair amount of this stigma started with religion, forcing women to control themselves and act modestly. it also plays an issue in anatomy, because some women just don't know how their own body works. do you realize how insane that is? some people just don't know what their body is capable of due to lack of a proper sex education. there's also a lot of males that don't know how female bodies work. this leads to an infamous example where nasa gave a woman 100 tampons for her period and asked "is that enough". keep in mind the avg period uses 3-6 tampons a day. it's terrible when the greatest minds of the world don't know basic female function.
