Measures like this (Texas did one too) come in response to construction companies. When they bid on contracts for road construction that can span multiple municipalities or counties, the varying rules become a large issue. Depending on what part of the road crews are working on, the rules for breaks change. Throw in weather that can impact where a crew works on any given day and scheduling becomes difficult and costly. So the mission is not to torture workers. The mission is to have consistent rules across the state so projects can be completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Make state universities and community colleges free. Fund all grades K-12 free. Make pre-K free.

If no bills in the House, then how are the bills that get passed going nowhere? Further, if they're going no where in the Senate, why aren't we talking about how the democratically controlled Senate is getting nothing done? Come on - proofread! House Republicans are getting nothing done. No bills are passing the House they control. The bills that pass are going nowhere in the Senate.

The real "attack" is coming from the politicians who are trying to get away with doing nothing on Social Security, who are hoping the mandatory reduction that is coming up will just go unnoticed. Jim Jordan's nomination to be the next House Speaker on Wednesday, one right-wing lawmaker cut through the Republican infighting to remind his fellow GOP members of the common goal they share: cutting programs that millions of Americans rely on to obtain healthcare and afford their day-to-day expenses.

Speaking in favor of the Jordan, Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) called on his colleagues to recognize the Ohio Republican's so-called "courage" in fighting "to get at the real drivers of debt, and we all know what they are. We all know it's Social Security, we all know it's Medicare, we all know it's Medicaid."

Cole recalled how he and former Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.) offered a proposal to make changes to Social Security akin to those made in 1983, when benefits for retirees were effectively cut by 13%.

"We never could get any help," Cole lamented. "[Jordan] is the guy that wants to create a debt commission, a bipartisan debt commission and get at the roots of our spending problem. That takes courage."
