do yall ever wonder like...how absolutely bloodthirsty and feral joel must've been when he first started fending for himself and tommy? if a 56 year old joel can tie someone up and beat the shit out of them like that last ep while injured...imagine what he could do when he was 20 years younger and in his prime health...

I would not mess with a guy with biceps like that who had just lost his daughter, that's for sure...

I just finished lesson learned and i have a few questions!

- does din truly love the reader? And will he actually learn to change his ways completely or will he always be a bit psychopathic?

- are they any hard limits that din wouldnt do to the reader?

- will they ever truly be happy? Like, how they talked about 😭 my heart aches for both of them

- is the feelings din have for ready truly just obsession or does he genuinily care for her and her well being?

- why DID the reader plan out that scheme at the end to trick din? He could have well changed without needing to go through that. Does he feel any remorse for tricking him? Does she fear what will happen if he were to ever find out? I fear what he'll do to willa and tex, AND the reader if he finds out. It would be, simply putting it, catastrophic

- is there a sequel in the works? 👀 i can say im definitely addicted to them, just as they are to each other

I just want them to be happy, to have the love they say they both crave 😭

oh goodness okay let's see if I can answer these all!

I put it below the read more so it's not just a wall of text LOL! also obviously spoilers for those who haven't read LL!

1. I think it's important to ask what love is to Din. Because our definition of love might be very different than dark!din's. I can't really say if he's redeemable or not. That's all up to your personal perspective. I will say that Din does love our pretty little thief, but again, what does it mean to be loved by him? Food for thought ♡

2. I don't think Din wants to inflict heavy pain or anything that causes scars. Everything he does is either mental or is something that can be healed over time. So, hopefully that's a good answer even though it's a bit non-specific!

3. Who's to say they aren't happy now? I think they're very happy :) even if the foundation of that happiness is a fib, I don't believe that makes their happiness any less real!

4. Din cares about the reader deeply. It's about how deep does that care go? Is it obsession to take care of the person you love's needs? To Din, he gave reader everything he believed someone would need. I think it might be better to wonder if Din could ever stop caring for reader...because I think that is a fun thought experiment ~

5. Hmmm, well, if you read between the lines, I hinted that reader had been planning this for quite some time. It wasn't a random plot. It was intentional because reader saw how easily Din could fall into his old ways. She needed to do something that would push him to change completely and for her, this was the only solution. I think in her convo with Willa, we see that she has some regret. Willa doesn't (lol I love her) but reader definitely does. Oh, the fear is there but ignorance is bliss! Let's just ignore all the betrayal and focus on how happy they are :D

6. Yes, I have a sequel conceptualized. It's...a lot, though. It's dark, gritty and will take literally all my mental capacity to write 😂 yall don't even understand, LL took years off my life. The twists and turns 😵‍💫 gosh, I still think about how insane I was for writing 10k word chapters! Definitely will have to consider if I want to invest in long chapters like that again, wowie! But indeed, I do have an idea of where a sequel would go and honestly, it's quite a ride (at least it seems so in my head haha!)

Hey, I'm not sure if you remember me, but my handle on AO3 is JayeGalifrey. I just recently started writing a Dark!Din fic, because I was missing Lesson's Learned, (Because it's amazing.) And I just had to ask, did you ever get hate while writing and posting it? If so how did you deal with it? I'm struggling a bit with the hate I'm receiving and I could really use some moral support

Oh my goodness, of course I remember you! Actually, I've been trying to work on your raffle prize one-shot for a while now (been a bit busy with life + my growing obsession with Joel Miller haha!) so hopefully I'll have that done soon 🥰

Ah yes, I did indeed receive some backlash for the darker things I've written. And I handled it the way I handle most internet things: I deleted it from existence and blocked whoever sent it. I don't ever interact with people who take time out of their day to be outraged over fiction. Fiction has always been a medium used to explore things, even if those things are dark and non-traditional.

There's nothing wrong with writing dark fiction. There's nothing wrong with you for writing or reading it. Fiction is a safe space and it makes me sad seeing people try to ruin that because of their own selfishness.

There is something deeply disturbing about the kind of policing people think they are allowed. Just because you don't like something in fiction, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist in fiction. Sure, I dislike x y z when I read stuff, but do you see me going around, preaching that it should never be written? No, because I have respect for authors and for the things they want to write. It's easy not to be a dick, though I think some people just enjoy being outraged.

I, of course, feel eh after receiving unwarranted comments but what helps is reminding myself that the people who complain willingly chose to do so. They chose to waste time out of their day to send hate over the internet to a complete stranger over a fictional character. Kind of...embarrassing, don't ya think? We have limited time in life and yet they're spending their time sending hate? Not worth the interaction lol I don't have time to deal with their petty childish bullshit. Delete and move on to better things, like your writing!

Hope this helps. Sorry again for the hate you're receiving. Please don't let that discourage you from writing! I know writing dark fiction is a gamble at times, but as long as you're enjoying the write, that's all that matters. The haters can waste their time crying. Focus on vibing and doing your own thing ~ ♡

small update: I made a Twitter account!

yes, I finally caved and made a Twitter lol mainly bc the username I wanted was actually available so I couldn't really say no...

the reason why I decided to make one is bc I'm experimenting with what I'm calling "mini fics", where I write unedited ramble-like stories versus how my normal fics are formatted and thoroughly edited. in a way, I think this will give me the freedom I want right now to just babble into the abyss, so I like it a lot!
