One of my favorite things about Stolas is actually one of his flaws that he needs to fix, but I need to mention this once before it’s too late. So hear a girl out, kay?

I find it absolutely adorable how Stolas (prior to Full Moon) literally romanticizes the fuck out of Blitzø.

I absolutely adore how he sees Blitzø as this amazing knight in shining armor that can do no wrong, and will always be there to protect him. It's adorable and it really balances out Blitzø’s self-loathing.

I just love how Stolas loves so hard, even when he's hurting. The fact that he doesn't have the heart to put all the blame on Blitzø, and instead questions what he himself did wrong in 'All 2 U', I adore that aspect of him.

I think where Stolas fails is that his love for Blitzø is so romanticized to the point that his love for him puts Blitzø on this pedestal, where in Stolas’s mind, Blitzø is almost invulnerable to getting hurt.

He's truly yet to see Blitzø for the broken man he is, but I have no doubt in my mind that once he sees that part of him, he'll fall in love even harder.

Stolas’s capacity to love is genuinely both his biggest stength, and one of his greatest weaknesses.

Love that for him, my neurodivergent prince. Can't wait to see the day he falls for the real Blitzø.

So, here's the thing. It's not just about control or appearances, about Blitz being a lying liar who lies about being a top.

Let's do an experiment for a moment. You are Blitz. You have just been through two really shitty days.

Your situationship / friends with benefits just dumped a crap ton of emotional shit on you, didn't give you even a second to process any of it, and then broke up with you when you didn't react the way he thought you should. Then proceeded to stonewall you when you try to talk the next day, go to a party that is explicitly and blatantly a bully party thrown by a bunch of people who hate you, enjoy himself at this party, and finally hook up with another guy.

A guy who hates you.

You have been told in no uncertain terms by two or more people that you are a piece of shit, told to give up on and let go of your ex situationship even though you think you might have feelings for him, and offered no support, compassion, or empathy whatsoever.

Being Blitz, you've never reached out for it because you don't think you deserve it. You feel you fully deserve everything that has ever happened to you for the past two days, because none of those people at that party could possibly hate you more than you hate yourself.

Your confidence is shattered. The one thing you have always been very good at besides killing people, which is fucking, has been mocked, degraded, and rejected.

The one way you know how to connect to people, show your love and affection for people, and prove your worth to people has been rejected by the person who ostensibly used to adore it.

Add to this that you are constantly exposed to two people who have the one thing you want more than anything, but don't think you deserve or should have. You are bitterly, viciously jealous of them and their love for each other, wanting to share in it but knowing it's not for you and that you don't deserve something like that anyway. You are drowning, floundering, and struggling, and you don't know where to turn or what to do.

Your opinion of yourself has rarely been lower. And so you try to bury yourself and work. You do your jobs, you try to pretend to be normal, you move on with your life and try to just exist as per usual as if none of this shit has happened.

And then on one job, quite possibly here first after the worst two nights in a while, you find yourself and your team in a life-threatening situation. You are unable to defend or protect them, and then your only way out, which has thus far cooperated flawlessly with you, stops working. And there is nothing you can do to make it work again.

As they watch, judging you, you flounder, fight, and struggle with it, having to admit that you don't really know what you're doing. And you can feel them. Watching. Judging. Wondering how you fucked this up.

Wondering how you're so God damn incompetent.

Wondering how you keep getting the most simple shit wrong.

So you get stressed and anxious. But of course, means that you fuck up even harder and it works even less well.

You start making simple mistakes at basic things like the alphabet, which is difficult anyway because reading and language is difficult for you. You can feel the judgment from them for that, too.

Why are you so stupid?

How was this hard?

And the questions start bouncing around in YOUR head, too.

Why are you locking up?

Why isn't this working?

This is not hard. This shouldn't be hard.

So why can't you do it?

Why can't you just be smarter?

Be more gentle?

Be stronger?

Be kinder?

Why can't you just do better?

Are you ever, ever, enough?

No wonder your father hated you. You're just a giant screw up.

Anytime it matters, you can't pull it off.

You've experianced this before, time and again.

And now, you're in the situation once more. Yet again, with eyes on you and people waiting for you to do the right thing to get results, you can't.

And then, as has always been in your life, someone who was better than you get tired of your floundering, steps in, and gets it done effortlessly.

A common thread between Cash, and Blitz's life in the circus, and what just happened in Antarctica?

I don't know what's worse.

That Blitz was very likely full on triggered in the scene, having a panic attack on top of the emotional distress he was already in from what happened with Stolas, or that Moxxie and Millie didn't notice.

I hate the reasoning that Stolas losing/giving up his position is necessary for Stolas and Blitz's relationship to be repaired. One of the biggest aspects of this ship is the fact that it's interclass (which, if you ask me, is one of the biggest reasons why it's so interesting), and because of that they face mockery and even Blitz himself thinks he isn't worthy of being loved by a prince. Saying that Stolas needs to abdicate so their relationship can be healthy implies that a commoner really CAN'T be with royalty, so much that Stolas needs to straight up be dethroned in order for a relationship between a blue blood and a commoner to work out

Blitz and Stolas working things out IN SPITE of their class differences would be a better approach imo. Fizz and Ozzie, Bee and Tex, Charlie and Vaggie were all able to do that.

....But Stolas and Blitz can't?

I don't know, this idea that interclass relationships are invalid or impossible to maintain just seems pretty classist to me. This line of thinking proves the point of anyone who's ever laughed at Blitz and Stolas' relationship for being interclass

Blitz shouldn't have to teach Stolas to NOT be racist/classist

I know we're all focused on the growth that needs to happen for Stolitz to become healthy and get properly together, but I keep seeing people totally dismiss any character growth so far and I think we should take a minute to appreciate that.

Blitzø:

has dropped the "I hate this whole thing and you attitude" towards Stolas (Pretty much right after Ozzie's if I'm remembering correctly)

has clearly worked on improving his relationships to Millie, Moxxie, and Loona (is noticeably kinder to Moxxie, is treating Loona more like her own person, not stalking people anymore)

has made up with Fizzaroli,

Has started to take accountability in Apology tour for how he's hurt many of his exes (mostly Verosika and Stolas)

Is learning to express some needs and issues (though not entirely positively and he does need to work much more on this)

Overall, he's acting more invested in improving the relationships he cares about and has stopped running away and holding certain people at arm's length.

Stolas:

Has learned to stand up for himself

Has stopped dirty talking at innappropriate times

Has dropped the infantilizing language towards Blitzø (though side note: he seems to have trouble applying this skill to other situations, which is a flaw we'll need to see addressed)

Comes to the conclusion the deal isn't right, and ends it, giving Blitzø a way to earth that's unrelated to him.

Is learning to express some of his needs and wants in a positive (nonsexual) way

Overall Stolas is learning to walk the tightrope between being completely self negating (his life with Stella) and completely selfish (his initial behavior with Blitzø) and is starting to find a balance. He's also taken accountability for the flaws he's been able to recognize and has changed his behaviour and tried to make up for them.

Like obviously we're nowhere close to being done the show, and both characters still have some growing to do, but the characters have already come a long way from episode one, and I wish it was acknowledged a bit more by the fandom

It's not just that Stolas, even while drunk and hurt, still tried to protect Blitz and make sure no one else at the party noticed him.

It's that Stolas, even while drunk and hurt, still took the time to say "no, Blitz, people DO care about you. To an almost scary obsessive degree, actually."

Like he heard Blitz talk down about himself and even after everything that happened, his first instinct is NOT ON MY FUCKING WATCH. GET LOVED, LOSER.

Something I think is really sweet is that Stolas is protective of Blitz but he always lets Blitz handle it first.

In S1E1, he’s controlling the bullets Martha’s shooting because he’s having a conversation with Blitz, but otherwise doesn’t intervene. In S1E6, he doesn’t come in until there’s literally no other option. And in S2E2, it’s not until Blitz is having a very public panic attack and the audience goes haywire that he starts pushing through to get to him.

He cares so much about Blitz’s autonomy. If Blitz can handle it, he doesn’t want to make Blitz feel disempowered by swooping in when he’s not needed. Blitz is an adult and, until shown otherwise, can take care of himself. Prides himself on it, even. Stolas doesn’t want to take that away from him.

Side note: how powerful is Stolas, really? All the times we’ve seen him engaging in the human world, the grimoire is not around, putting him at a disadvantage. And he’s still INSANELY powerful. Messing around with objects in the human world psychically, magical girl transformations, possessions, sprouting black tentacles, interfering with electronics, showing off his scary demon form

There is lack of reading comprehension and there is half of Helluva Boss fandom thinking that old money rich guy being a hypocrite and being unaware of his own privilege is a plot hole and that the creators don't remember half of their shows. "Stolas doesn't remember that he did in fact looked down on Blitz" it almost like he wasn't aware he was looking down on him

It always "we want complex character" and yet y'all lose your minds whenever a character has any flaws

If the Hellaverse fandom has taught me anything, it’s that how you engage with pieces of media you hate says a lot more about you than how you engage with pieces of media you love. If you’re writing off everyone who loves a story (ANY story) as stupid, vapid, uneducated, immoral or media-illiterate, your goal in consuming stories is to feel morally and intellectually superior. And that’s a YOU problem. Let people enjoy what you think is silly. Poorly written. Your opinion (or my opinion) is not the preliminary consensus on anything. And if you really, REALLY hate a story enough, just don’t engage with it at all.
