my fussy thoughts on ACOTAR

i truly have such love and die relationships with these books lol. i like reading them, i like characters, plot, atmosphere and so on. BUT

BUT. i know it's not a new thought but i'm kinda like speaking to myself so... i can't understand what is going on with some plotlines and characters. whether it's the author who just wants to make some of them better and some of them worse OR there are simply holes in the storyline i don't know.

OR i want to believe that maybe SJM wants to show us that there're no ideal characters (it seems to me that this is just me, but anyway). cause the 2nd and the 3rd books are obviosly tending to make IC better - and i understand that (actions of IC and Tamlin are for another inner discussion). however, due to this, some traits and actions of some guys in latter books seem to be unusual(?) and strange - and the problem is that i don't know which my thought is the right one lol

one true fact is that i do want a happy ending for all (though obviously it's happier for one and not so good for others), so i'm waiting for what's gonna happen next. i just sincerely want everything to be explained logically T.T

one more pain - of course it's not possible to right books about all not main characters, but i want to see more of others too T.T

also i'm just curious what the book about elain and lucien is gonna be like???? (i'm not gonna start wars between shippers lol - everything can be changed until we see the book in the printed variant, but right now i'm pretty sure 97% they're gonna be endgame). smut in the nessian book was maybe alright (sorry not a big fan of it, but at least it could somehow suit their tempers a little), but due to the fact that elain is not very much explained and she at least SEEMS to be not so ...fire(?), i do want to see some other type of mating bond romance.

another romance - since i'm convinced elucien is an endgame (rightnow) - gwynriel is another couple i'm longing for, and it's even scarier for me how they're gonna be shown (IF they're gonnf, but i hope that will happen). if they have some kind of smut and revealing scences as previous pairs did for the sake of "high" tension - i don't know, i'm not sure about it lol.

bokuto kotaro as a boyfriend

bokuto is so in his emo mood when you stand in front of him in the queue in the cafeteria – he desperately wants to take the last cupcake, but you seem to do the same, so he’s so sad

you can’t read thoughts, you don’t know him – though you have a feeling that you have heard about volleyball players at university – so you do take the cupcake

he can’t handle the most tearing sigh ever

so you just turn around and see him nearly crying

well you give him this cupcake and akaashi, standing behind bokuto, facepalms

bokuto is the happiest man in a second

and well he kinda melts when you say it’s okay and leave to your class

akaashi suffers for the next few hours because bokuto can’t stop this “she was so cute she gave me a cupcake akaashi please find her group or shouldn’t I do it instead akaashi-”

you’re reading a student book in the library when a shadow hovers over you which actually scares you

but it’s just smitten bokuto because talking to you somehow turns to be so confusing

but you ask him about volleyball and he becomes an excited kid

you miss the next game cause you’re ill

but bokuto tells you everything and he’s a little bit boasting cause he wants you to pay attention only to his skills

“you seem to be in love?” – akaashi asks some time after you two start meeting so often

it makes bokuto observe terrible mood swings but yes, he says he’s in love

when you say it’s mutual he’s just crying inside

the most shocking thing to you is that he’s so passionate and scared at the same time

like when he kisses you for the first time – it’s right after the win at the game

he picks you up with his powerful arms and his lips are on yours

but when this ends he looks so lost and scared and starts to mumble literally

it turns out that he wants to be a boyfriend you can be proud of, but he has his emo mood and he doesn’t want to do something that can disappoint you or-

you just kiss him again and well

he is way more passionate than scared right now

not to mention that he can lift you with nearly his one arm

or to bump into your belly with his head when he’s sitting on the bench and you’re brushing his hair

bokuto changes from pecks on the lips to hungry kisses so fast that you’re literally lost

akaashi literally sighs every time he sees you two

you firstly meet baji when you accidently walk around the corner and find yourself right in front of a gang fight

and well at this very moment he kicks asses of others

so when he’s done and starts moving to you, you just jump and run

but soon he hovers over you

well he seems to be a student too, so you relax a little

before he starts threatening you – you think he’s gonna do the exact thing – you say something like “i’m not a coward, but if you wanna fight with me, fight with me fairly”

this sentence makes baji die with laughter

“i just wanted to make sure you’re okay, little dove” – he chuckles and you want to run away even more

though he does leave you alone and doesn’t follow you

but you’re incredibly shocked when you bump into a tall guy at school a few days later, which makes him nearly lose his glasses

at that moment you recognise him and he suddenly starts mumbling something about keeping it a secret

so you both just come to the conclusion that you won’t tell anyone about the fight and he is not a bad guy who wants to scare you

you find him next to the door of your class a week later, begging for help with maths and well

the whole damn school of teachers is shocked when you two are found studying in the library for the next few months

but during these months baji somehow falls for you

you’ll be lying if you say you didn’t like him first (at least a little)

but he falls harder

it’s your quick wit and somehow mixed adventurous and reasonable sides which make him lose his mind

it’s like a scene from a fluff romantic film

you explain something to him and he stares at you without even blinking

it’s a secret you look at him exactly the same when he doesn’t see it

anyway, he’s a proud peacock when he introduces you to his friends and you laugh out so loudly when they reveal all his complaints about “she doesn’t like me back i’m gonna die along cause I want only her”

you’re the first who kisses

like it’s one of the days when you sit in his flat, reading some manga in the light of one small lamp

you suddenly laugh and tell him to close his eyes

baji is scared and excited at the same time

so you firstly kiss him on his cheeks, feeling the grasp on you waist growing stronger

and then you both lean closer to each other and well

it’s just so pure and wonderful and sparkling

baji kisses you whenever it’s possible

he somehow grows from a unexperienced flirty guy into a very experienced flirty guy who makes you screaming mentally all the time

well he’s both cheeky and cute

and you’re two small idiots in love with huge plans for future

some years after your graduating from school all your gang throws a huge toast at your wedding which makes you and baji sob

so you go inside to buy some food

and the seller literally dies from laughing when murayama follows you in some minutes

you’re choosing food, quite proud of yourself though still a little scared, and murayama’s standing not so far away, pretending to pick up something too

in reality, he scowls and puffs

cause again, he’s offended

but excited

when you’re out and want to leave, he pulls himself together and blocks your way

you let it go after that and smile

so yes he picks you up after work

and he introduces you to his friends some weeks later

you’re unexpectedly comfortable enough to agree to that

when furuya takes him to take some more soda – yeah, you’re so scary that they don’t even offer you alcohol, seki can’t hold it anymore

“please, save the school from crashing down and start dating murayama-san”

you chokes with your juice

“he’s been mad since he saw you” – he continues – “like he can’t talk about you cause he can’t even make a normal sentence and starts mumbling, puffing and swearing and he can’t NOT talk about you cause when he’s silent it’s even worse”

as is murayama who hears that

you’re both silent for all the walk

but when it’s time to say goodbye, it just happens

kuroo is a smart geek

but he’s dumb for you

you know he helps as assistant at university’s lab – he’s the first year chemistry magister

and you’ve seen him for a few times during common meetings – nothing more

you’re told he’s rather famous in small circles for his brain

but you’re new at this place – you've got your bachelor degree in another university

and you’re pretty focused on studying

so yeah it’s interesting, but you forget about him in a few minutes

until one day you stay in queue at the nearest café

it’s afternoon and it’s terribly crowded

and right at the time you got your order you understand that there are no free tables

and you don’t know if it’s good or bad but kuroo somehow notices you and offers to sit with him

pretty simple

but you’re ready to eat an elephant

and you DEFINITELY need coffee

so you sit together

there is absolutely no talking

kuroo just hems and writes something in his laptop

he’s wearing an absolutely crazy bright red t-shirt

it’s so bright that it reflects on his cheeks and they’re red too

but anyway, you thank him when you finish and run to your lections

whoever could know that from this day you would not spend a morning without

todoroki scares the shit out of you at first meeting

it’s red dawn and you’re in front of your house to open the door

and when you turn around, you see him, standing as a statue on the corner of the street and staring at you

he has his poker-face

you’re scared

but it’s not that dark and you’re not that clever (you think so), so you decide that the best way to understand what the hell is going on is to ask him directly

but he runs away and you’re not able to get him no matter how much you want to

luckily nothing strange happens that night

but you notice him some days later when you come home again

and when he starts coming to you with this aggressive face, you’re pretty ready to fight for your life

but he passes you and kicks two guys who appeare hell knows from where

so in the end: you’re completely lost and understand nothing, todoroki has a scrape on his cheek and guys are well beaten

it turns out (while he threatens them and they say they won’t come near you anymore) that their gang was said that you’re a woman who sells drugs and you’re interfered in some problems and so on, but the informant gave them the wrong person and you just look very similar

and as this problem with drugs was important for many schools, todoroki decided to talk with this woman himself

but you’re not her

and when he noticed that you were followed

well, that’s why he was following you – he was not scaring you, he was frightening off these bastards

it’s alright right now

when he briefly describes this situation to you, you don’t even have time to thank him properly

he just says “it’s done” and leaves

it’s not abusive protectiveness by the way

he just knows that gangs are dangerous

you saw his devil fight mode for the first time when some drunk man offends you

and well you truly have to put all your power to keep your man away from killing

it’s well-known he’s crazy in his devil mode

and well it seems that this mood has one more case for appearing

you’re a freaking golden trio of your university

though you and kate babysit Edwina most of the time

the eldest sharma and you study science together

and edwina is a year younger psychologist

so you three discuss all these scientific crazy things (according to anthony, but he’s joking)

kate always gestures actively and sometimes people in the corridor become victims of that

but everyone loves her anyway so it’s not a problem

edwina on the contrary sits calmly, but she often jumps up and cries out something funny

so you can’t stop laughing

kate seems to be too stubborn and edwina – too gentle, but you know that they balance each other very well

so kate is much softer than she appears and edwina can be unexpectedly strong-willed when it’s her desire

it becomes even more noticeable when you’re with them – you’re like a total middle in a good way

they’re so wonderful, to be honest

edwina is able to make everything easier: she just comes into the room and things blossom

it just gets brighter and sunnier, literally

kate, in contrast, has this calm and supporting nature

when edwina or you have problems, she just sits, nods, then says a few words and all troubles seem to be solved

you all protect and support each other (when kate starts dating anthony, it just gets three plus one)

when she starts sobbing because it was a hard day or anything, you and edwina pull out your guns

or you just bring all sweet coffee and buns (kate drinks latte with huge amount of sugar) and spend all night discussing aliens

they teach you how to make chai tea and god that’s the most delicious and mind-blowing tea you’ve ever tried

you three are a little aloof with others sometimes

but these two are never aloof when it comes to picking up your clothes

your legs literally promise to fall apart because they run around the whole shopping centre (or not the only one)

but in the end you’re well dressed thanks to them and satisfied

“i’m convinced boys’re blind if no one calls you on a date tomorrow” – edwina has hearts in her eyes and omg she’s such a sweetie

kate just chuckles but you know she approves too

when one guy truly makes you a compliment next day, they both sneak somewhere behind and whisper something that makes you giggle

in conclusion – you all love each other

it’s pretty simple – you meet during university lection

iwaizumi tries to give his homework to the teacher (oikawa too actually, they both have missed everything because of competitions)

and you’re awkwardly standing next to them because you need to talk to the professor

so while oikawa is cutely trying to ask for forgiveness, you and iwaizumi just even more awkwardly smile to each other

“come and write a test on thursday, all three of you” – professor says

well you’re not happy

but it’s funny to have a test with them – you’re not exactly familiar with each other, but you just calmly laugh when oikawa is being hysterical cause “does anyone in the hell now what the answer is?”

they help you, you help them and the professor pretend to be blind

iwaizumi tries not to smile too much at you

“our hero needs a cup of coffee, don’t you think so, iwa-chan?”

you say you have to go to work, so maybe next time

“you haven’t said your name to us properly, beauty” – oikawa’s just being fluffy again when you bump into them in university corridor

“sorry, he’s just in his spring mood” – iwaizumi apologizes and you say it’s fine

so you find yourself at their game with another university

and well it seems that you’re in your spring mood too because why the hell is iwaizumi that handsome?

“bestie, you’re staring” – your friend chuckles

you don’t even deny it

iwaizumi comes to you after the game and you understand that something is going on when oikawa stays away and just winks
