i've been thinking about changing vanya's name to something more like 'van(y)ushka' or 'van(y)echka' bc while 'vanya' itself is already an affectionate diminutive of ivan, the above two are even more so, with 'vanya' being kind of the Neutral dimimutive in comparison, and it seems in-character for him to give himself a name that will automatically already imply some fondness for him whenever someone uses it

you can Hate him but you can't really call him anything other than 'little dear ivan' unless you want to raise some eyebrows

however the -echka suffix at least appears to sometimes have an implication of disrespect depending on context, which is 100% something vanya would have no desire to even accidentally invite

he's also not particularly good at the whole Consequences thing, either, so it could be he'd still choose it tho

The Very Pretty Vanya Creature has appeared! What to do?

i wrote quite a bit on vanya's story today! (poses)

........unfortunately most of it was on the very end which is planned but very much not Revealed anywhere on this blog or my other yet. but i am pretty jazzed with it. i finally got introduce marrow into the story. she's the keeper of oostal's life cycle

considering everything u can probably guess she has something to do with vanya's immortality

tbh there was a vivid pretty Unsettling dream i had once that's sort of bled into some of the locations in oostal-- in the dream, i was trapped in a huge house with a very unusual layout. it was like a ten-story-ish square building where the very center was just an open atrium with the floors and their rooms arranged around that empty center. it was just like. a mall tbh. but a house. with bedrooms and hallways

you could enter through the front door and immediately head to a staircase to go up into the different floors, or keep going straight ahead where the floor would suddenly Drop Off into what looked like just a random overgrown arboretum. it was so far down i couldn't really see below the canopy of the trees bc it was too dark

but i remember getting a chill when i looked down at it, and i couldn't figure out how to get down to it anyway so i went to explore the floors instead

which turned out to be kind of a maze of hallways. i remember getting Lost and not being able to find my way back to the main hallway, the one that bordered the atrium, for a while, and eventually i became aware of Something following after me which gave me some incredibly bad vibes lmao

i kinda wonder if i'd seen that hallway chase scene from hellraiser when i was a kid and Forgot bc now that i'm aware of that scene it's very familiar to what was eventually revealed to be following me. i don't remember it Exactly but i do recall it being pink and fleshy lmao it moved very strangely. i did manage to lose it when i finally turned the corner and found the main hallway (for some reason it couldn't leave the littler hallways)

and then at the very end i finally made it to the top floor and found the massive rocking pendulum-like machine working away for unclear purposes at the very top of the entire building

......honestly i say this dream in particular kind of inspired a lot of oostal things, especially in the lubov's resting place/the dreamworld, but this was far from the only Strange vivid dream i've had, so it's really not special in that regard. it just kinda sticks out to me sometimes

i was going to make a post proclaiming vanya would love blackberries but a second later i remembered that he absolutely Would Not bc he can't eat any kind of berry anymore without having a panic attack

which is a shame bc i think aesthetically he'd look nice beside them. and they're Delicious

reading back through my rambly Official Lore document for vanya just to kinda refresh and maybe Awaken some inspiration orz and i ran across this description of a plot point and u know what idk how else to say it uhhh i feel like i was kinda cooking here

"as of november 2024 there is an entirely Other reason why he is no longer welcome at the pantheon party so a lot of the above interpretation is no longer A Thing. it’s less he should have Grown Up at some point and more that he grew up Too Much and overstepped what the other gods thought he should have been capable of and now they don’t know how to deal with him"

i have been waffling back and forth on whether vanya has tiny raccoon hands like A Little Man or unexplainably dextrous paws like the cats of the movie he was based on basically since i created him but i think. i've finally decided on the former
