Pale-blood moon
Close up moon shots against a dark background all look largely the same. Yet, I can’t stop taking pictures of them, especially when they turn into such an ominous color that reminds me of the Lovecraftian horror game, Bloodborne. Shot just now from my balcony. Photoshop was probably set to strip the exif data, so here’s a snapshot of the RAW file.

They say this charming small village is at its best in summer. To my eyes, it was already stunning.

Yellow Dot
Having spent the summer in ~50 degrees C in the United Arab Emirates, the snowfall in Munich at 0 degrees C is a warm welcome. The warmth coming from the heater tells me why the word “warm” is associated with pleasant things. Growing up in a mostly hot climate in Bangladesh, it’s always been nonsensical to me as to why regards were ‘warm,’ or why purring cats ‘warmed’ hearts. Well, now I…

August 1st Supermoon from Jebel Jais
I wrote an entire post on my blog about the experience of taking this picture from the top of Jebel Jais, in Ras al Khaimah, one of seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates (among the others are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah). The post linked below has some other shots I took from one of the viewing points in Jebel Jais that you may find interesting. Supermoon from the top of Jebel Jais Exif…

Moon over Ras al Khaimah
Went outside for a moment and saw the beautiful moonlit night with the night lights. It’s a beautiful harmony of natural and artificial light. There’s a golf course, the waterbody in which is reflecting the shining moon. Mountain Overlook, Bandarban
Just an old photo I felt like editing and uploading. The raw photo was already severely underexposed, so I decided to go for a moody and dramatic look. I shot it with the Sony A7 III and the Sigma 24-70 F2.8. I had the camera for a brief period before deciding it wasn’t the right camera for me. The pictures are great, and Sigma lenses are nothing short of art (get it?). But the ergonomics just…

I saw the other day that somebody thinks every book is a New York Times bestseller these days. Have they considered perhaps they see those books because those are the bestsellers?
Something to think about.

Boat in the Bay of Bengal
A silhouette of a boat with two men in the Bay of Bengal as the sun sets behind them. Shot on Canon EOS R5 in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
Behold my favorite shot from the end of the year tour to Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. A number of other photos I’ve taken will be posted here — featuring dogs, birds, and some night shots of the resort — but this one takes the cake. Shot from the private beach of Mermaid Beach Resort, the RF 100-500mm let me zoom all the way at 500mm to get reasonably close to this distant fishing boat with a…

Flyover during the day
Chittagong flyover during the day (with a side-by-side comparison of a light trail shot at night).
You may have seen the night shot of the flyover the other day (If you haven’t, please see it here). This is just the same frame from earlier in the day. I think it might be interesting to see both shots side by side. So here you go: Exif Data CameraCanon EOS R5LensRF 100-500mm @ 145mmApertureƒ/7.1Shutter Speed1/400ISO1000Location:Chittagong, BangladeshDate Taken:January 4, 2023

Soaked in Winter Rain
Unexpected winter rain in Cox's Bazar gave me this not-award-winning photo of the water bottles soaking in rain water.
Three days before the end of the year, an unexpected winter rain hit us. It made me very happy. The resort I’m staying at is full of greeneries. And I’ve only ever watched it rain here a couple of times. I didn’t expect to see rain at this time of the year. But there it was! I didn’t go out with my camera in the rain. I’m still too fond of it to take it out in the showers. But I took advantage…

Light Trail at Chittagong Flyover
Light trail as vehicles ply over the flyover in Chittagong - also known as Muradpur to Lalkhan Bazar flyover or Akhtaruzzaman flyover. Shot on Canon EOS R5.
Unless I’ve forgotten, this is my first attempt at capturing light trail. I’ve done long exposure photography before. You may remember the night shot of the BMW X5 in Colorado, US. But this is the first time I’ve attempted a proper light trail photography, and I must say, I’m happy with the results. X5 at Night Pictured is one of the several flyovers in the port city of Chittagong in…
