As a new book is coming soon I started to see a lot more posts about Elriel and Gwynriel ships. So I have something to say.

So let’s start with what we all know about: the mating bond is about connecting two equals. Azriel sees Elain like little broken girl similar to a little broken boy inside him. Yes, he’s caring about her maybe because he wanted someone to care about him just the same when he was a boy. I don’t see them as equals, just as two people connected through their traumas.

And so that way the plot I really want to see is Elain and Lucien working together. They both would be asked if it’s okay for them, and they would agree.

Imagen Elain sees Lucien not as her mate, but as a man she works with: mindful, cunning, responsible and actually hot. I want Elain to finally show her real face: she is strong, intelligent, brave, moreover she is not broken, she doesn't need to be saved. As it's unlikely for her to take a sword, I guess she can protect herself otherwise.

And I want Lucien to fall in love with Elain not because they are mates or her trauma but because the woman she really is.

And I also want Azriel to be happy too. And with Gwyn. They both went through hell (not actual Hell) in their past and found peace in Velaris. Look at Gwyn: how confident she became. I think Azriel needs someone vigorous, punchy and open-minded like… Gwyn. He is her ribbon she's going to fight for (and with), so will Azriel do the same for her?

The last but not the least - Emerie. Of course we have some theories but hear me out - Tamlin! He is so overprotective and she is strongly against it. He can't stand the view of the wings and she has clipped ones. She can't fly anymore and… he can shapeshift. She was insulted by her father (who was supposed to love her) and he… met Feyre (sorry, I condemn what he did, but Feyre did a lot too). Emerie could be his redemption. And Tamlin could be her way to gain some authority to make the world a better place for illyrians.
