My new portable synth rig! I can shut the lid, zip it up, and carry it wherever

I’m rockin’ a dual-USB power bank under a white “brand-less” Bluetooth speaker (one of those you get at corporate events with some random company’s name) powering the LED lights and the Retrokits RK-005 (now discontinued 🪦).

I’d like to get a similarly sized power bank, ~ 2.5” x 5” with such a slim and light profile, but have 3 USB type A ports instead of 2. I’d like to power my synth, the Roland Boutique JX-08, in case its 4 AA batteries ever die. The JX-08 is USB-C and RK is micro-USB. Hmmm. If not, I can just unplug the lights or use my AA battery-powered LED strip used for bicycles. Lights add a very fun component, especially lights triggered by sound!

If I’d go out in public, I’d swap that speaker with my JBL pill. As you can see, RED is my FAV color. ❤️ I also have a cable with a male aux to female 1/4” so I could plug in a guitar cable to connect to a louder amp.

The RK-005 syncs the master tempo of my Roland JX-08 boutique synth to the P0k3T0 splitter that sends to the Arcade and K.O! Pocket Operators.

Peep the LA-based hardware builder! Their projects are incredible. Must have accessories for a Pocket Operator IMHO.

I’m able to mix the audio of all three instruments passively via the Little Bear mixer (find on Amazon). It does just fine being a low-profile passive mixer! The fewer batteries, the better IMHO. Thanks to the P0k3T0, I can independently mix each Pocket Operator too.

Lastly, the cool coiled AUX cables are called Candycords from an amazing (seriously) company called myVolts. Must-see website for power, cables, and so much more. They also keep a great Instagram profile…

Alice Glass September 18, 2022 at Riot Fest in Chicago. God bless this woman.

She was playing at the same time as Jimmy Eat World. Although my inner child would’ve liked to see Jimmy, there was absolutely no chance in heck I would’ve passed up seeing Alice Glass.

She started the set with Alice Practice. The crowd roared!! I saw and overheard a handful around me look at each other stunned, asking … “is she allowed to do that?” 🙃 IYKYK… 😡

Anyway, my friend and I did NOT regret choosing Alice over Jimmy. She had never heard of her before then. We danced and jumped with sheer glee. I lost my glasses and part of my hat. It was worth it. Iconic performance. Generational talent.

Nice to be back on Tumblr again. I was getting a little tired of other social media. I remember really loving Tumblr in the post-MySpace era. I ended up disengaging w/ my personal Tumblr be it essentially became just a repo for my Instagram. I once ran a mildly popular Tumblr page, PEOPLE OF IHOP, but I believe it got banned sadly. I'm optimistic in the direction I'm going now in life; listening and responding to what serves me and how I can serve others with energy; and feeling confident that with what l've made -people should know about.
