Pirate/Merman au but it's avenday:

Where Kakavasha is young sailor who's been saved from.. bad people. He's trying to find his purpose but feeling lost amongst strong and valiant sailors. One day he finds an injured merman and helps him to get back into the water. The creature sees him not as 'one of the crew' but as a first and only human he knows and Vasha is amazed by this feeling. He's teaching merman human language (natural merman's language there is just harsh and ringing sounds) and for some time they find a friend at each other.

Many, many years after that, a captain named Aventurine who's known as the most ruthless sailor comes back to these places. He's making fun of scared people who tell stories about 'songs of a cruel devilish siren' which causes many ship destructions; everybody knows that no mermaid is capable to talk human language. He decides to find this creature and.. oh, what a surprise. Who'd have thought that their fates are intertwined
