Shinichi is happy, content and at this moment he has everything he needs. The love of his life is right next to him, while he drives down the road. He can't help but steal glances at her as her long hair is blowing in the open window of the car. A smile is etched on his face as he is clearly smitten by his passenger seat.

“You should keep your eyes on the road.” she softly tells him, her ears are burning red as she is very aware of the loving gazes he sends her way.

“Don’t worry” he replies “I’ll never let anything happen to you.”

“I know.” She turns and looks at him. “But it will make me feel so much better if you keep your eyes on the road.”

“If that’s what you want.” He reaches for her hand and intertwines it with his.

“Shinichi…” She gave him a warning.

“My eyes are on the road,” he replies.

“Your hand…”

He hums and gives it a soft squeeze.

“ I need my hand back.” she tries again.

“I think you can lend it to me.” he counters as he slows down to a stop. He brings their joined hands up to his lips, softly murmured words against her skin before pressing his lips against her hand.

“Idiot.” she mumbles as she tries to take her hand back. Her eyes met his, and her heart skips a beat.

“Eyes on the road.” She breaks the eye contact and looks straight ahead.

“Eyes on the road.” He repeated, smiling as they drove aimlessly into the night.

A Recording of my short fanfic. 

Lately, everything feels

like nothing mattered.

There’s this empty feeling

Buried deep in her bones.

And the rain

Amplifies that.

Ai Haibara knows that she shouldn’t ditch school, but the rain convinces her otherwise. She didn’t want to be part of the crowd trying to squeeze themselves in the barely covered train platform. A nearby garden with a gazebo will surely be a better place to take refuge, she thinks.

The red umbrella changes route and goes against the current of the crowd.

He was naive

To think he can change the world.

Now he is simply

Jaded.

Shinichi Kudo is a detective and right now he is supposed to be at work. But here he is taking a stroll in a nearby garden, then it starts to rain. It prompts him to run and take refuge in the gazebo and wait out the heavy rainfall.

‘The rain is therapeutic’ he thinks and closes his eyes.

Fate

Or

Coincidence?

Haibara couldn’t help but stare and whisper the man’s name. “Kudo.”

That shakes him from his daze and stares at the red umbrella, red hair, and green eyes. “Haibara.” he softly greets.

She steps under the roof and shakes her umbrella.

They stand next to each other, letting the rain fill the silence.

“Skipping school?” He asks.

“Skipping work?” She shoots back.

Shinichi laughs, a genuine laugh as it seems like nothing had changed between them. “It’s raining,” he answers and reaches inside his pockets. “Just waiting for it to stop.”

“Me too.” She answers.

He takes a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and gently places a stick between his lips.

“You smoke?” she asks as she watches him light it up.

He takes a long drag and slowly releases the smoke. “ It happens.”

She frowns and watches him take another drag. He notices her disapproving glare. “D-Don’t look at me like that.” He coughed.

Haibara adverts her eyes. “It’s not good for you.”

“I know.” he runs his other hand through his hair. “It’s just to get the edge off.”

“Hmm..”

Shinichi turns to look at her. “I'm twenty-seven but I don't feel any cleverer than I did ten years ago.”

“You just realized that?” she gave him a teasing grin.

“Ah…” He replies and painfully smiles at her.

“You look tired,” Haibara comments, looking up at the sky.

“Yeah…” he rubs the back of his neck, also looking up. The rain has stopped. Shinichi takes one last drag of his cigarette before stomping it out. “I suppose we should head back.”

“Kudo?”

“Hmm?”

Ai Haibara recites a poem.

With a soft smile Shinichi Kudo answers.

Bond.

They are the IT couple. Everyone knows that Conan Edogawa and Ai Haibara should date, they act like it, but are in fact NOT dating. and everyone in school just wonders why the two won’t just date.

Enter the first year in the mystery club, the brave young souls who decides to ask Ai Haibara if she is dating Conan Edogawa. 

“Haibara-senpai?” asks a short haired 1st year. 

“Yes?” Haibara looks up from her duties to write down the club activities for that day.

“Are you and Edogawa-senpai dating?”

“No.?”

“But why not?” asks the other girl. Everyone else in the club seems to be interested in the conversation, silently listening in. 

“Because...” Haibara meet Edogawa’s eyes, and mischievousness flitted in that glance. “Edogawa and I remembers our past life.”

“You mean you’re soulmates?”

“No.”

“But. -”

“In our past life, Edogawa and I are mortal enemy.” Haibara then flashes an intense look of murderous intent.”And I killed him.”

Everyone looked at her with wide eyes and fears. Haibara then laughs and heads for the door. “I’m kidding. you all should have seen your face.” 

“Edogawa and I are not dating because Edogawa hasn’t properly asked me out.” with that she left the club in chaos and Edogawa in buffle as he is mobbed by the members.

Death by Toilet

Everyone thought Conan Edogawa is invincible. At the tender age of 7, he had brushed with the grim ripper plenty of time. From getting stabbed, kidnapped (a few times), buried alive by the snow, almost drowning (multiple times), being thrown around like a rag doll and getting shot are the few things he survived. ( There are also a few incidents that not many knew of, like surviving getting poisoned and instead of dying the 17-year-old boy,  shrunk to a 7 years old; taking temporary drugs and inducing heart attack symptoms and pain to grow back to 17 years old boy then shrunk again after the temporary drug wars off, and having a few showdowns with key members of a secret criminal organizations.) 

The point is one would think that Conan Edogawa is invincible, and nothing could kill him. Till he actually died. From slipping on wet tiles and hitting his head against the toilet bowl. He never woke up from that.

It was the Detective Boys who found his lifeless body. The kids got worried when he took too long, and a 7 years old boy’s bladder is not that big. (Genta, Mitsuko, and Ayumi thought that he got tangled up in a case and ditched them. Haibara joked that he might have gotten himself kidnapped again. How they wished that their imagination was true. It’s much better than finding a lifeless Conan.)

Mitsuko and Genta screamed and rushed to their lifeless friend. They were quickly followed by the girls. Haibara yelled and told them to stop and not to touch him. Shaking his limp body might worsen his condition. She then instructed the kids to get an adult as she carefully approaches his body and took his pulse. She knew by the way his body contoured and blood pooling around him that she wouldn’t find any pulse on him. She stared at his face, and gently took off his glasses and closed his eyes. She continued to stare at him till her vision gotten blurry; she clutched his glasses to her chest and tears started to spill from her eyes. 

The Professor and the restaurant staff found her kneeling next to his lifeless body, crying. Haibara crying without holding back brought everyone to tears. Genta, Mitsuko, and Ayumi started crying with Haibara, bawling the name of the lifeless boy, as if their tears will bring him back. The professor ushered the kids from the entrance of the restroom as the ambulance had now arrived and needed to move Conan’s body from the cold floor.

The death of Conan Edogawa traumatizes the small group of friends. It was said that Ayumi would wake up from her nightmare, screaming out her friend’s name. Genta lost his appetite and Mitsuko was in denial. To him it simply didn’t make sense, Conan always escapes death, so how can a simple trip to the bathroom be the end of him. So Mitsuko convinced himself, then Ayumi and Genta that Conan is not dead. (Conan simply moved to a place with no signal or address, which is why he couldn’t contact them, but Conan will come back and play with them again someday.)

Haibara took a month off school to grieve. The first week, she locked herself in her room and cried day in and day out. The second week, she grew angry. She would spew profanity at the dead boy and scream her anguish and pain. This continued on to the third week. Haibara has a lot of anger in her. She is angry at herself, at him, at everyone and most of all at the Universe. She finds it unfair that the universe had once again taken the only person who keeps her grounded. She once again cursed Conan Edogawa, and then she laughed. (Conan who had the most exciting life, died the stupidest way. Death by the toilet bowl.)

The stage of Acceptance came next. Haibara got up early morning and cooked breakfast for the professor and her. She then let the sun and fresh air into her room. She cleaned the house from top to bottom, she went to the store to restock their fridge. Then finally, she tackled the basement.

The professor found her cleaning her side of the laboratory. All her data on APTX are being thrown away. When asked why she is throwing it all away. She simply replied in a calm and logical manner. “Because Kudo is dead.” She doesn’t want the antidote, therefore she has no need for all this research. The professor simply nodded and helped her clean up. 

At the end of it all, they had thrown out a lot of stuff. Somehow it felt like they’ve gotten rid of all of the evidence that Conan Edogawa was part of their life. His shoes, suspenders, watch and skateboard were all tucked away deep in a storage room. 

The only proof that Conan Edogawa was part of their lives is a single pair of glasses and a small photo frame with all the kids and professors smiling.

There was a knock on the door. It was well past midnight but as a detective, conan knows that any moment he will be needed at a crime scene. He slowly opened the door and revealed the red hair beauty before him.

"What are you doing here Haibara?" He asked.

She easily smiled and retorted "Arent you going to invite me in?"

He glared at her. "No."

She sighed and lightly pushed her way in. Shinichi didnt resist her, he took a step back and watched her prance around his home as if she owns it. He closed the door with a sigh and followed her.

"Shiho..." he tried again, using the name only he gets to call her. "Its the eve before your wedding. What are you doing here?"

"So you did get the wedding invitation." She mused loudly.

He winced and glanced on the floor. He had been avoiding her. He is happy for her, but it doesnt mean this chapter of her life doesnt break his heart.

"Shinichi." He looked up and met her eyes. "I want you to be there."

Haibara doesnt have family, she only have him and Hakase. Now that she came to him to personally tell him this, he couldn't help but agree. "I'll be there."

She smiled her radiant smile. "Thanks."

13 years ago. My grandfather died. I was the one with him at the hospice as he took his last breath. For the last 12 years I've blocked out that memory. But this weekend as the family remembers him; the memory came flashing back. I could still remember that very moment in time.

That moment in time my great aunt; a family friend and I are doing the rosary prayer for him. I watched the rise and fall of his chest. Anxiously willing him to take on more breath. Just one more. My eyes were trained on him.

As we inched closer to the end the rosary, the rise and fall of his chest lessens. And finally as we ended the prayer with an amen. He took his last breath.

It was a whole commotion after. I remember the nurses coming in. Me trying to hold back the tears. My phone is ringing, and a few moments to get ourselves put together.

Then I have to deliver the call to my mom and aunt. The damn broke as I utter the words. "Mommy, wala na si tatay." I was full on sobbing by then.

After that phone call; I have to calm myself and do it all over again. I called my brothers. Everyone left their job and school to see him one more time. Everyone gather to say their last I love yous and goodbye that day.

As each person comes into the room. The tears are renewed.

I think the most heart wrenching scene is when my younger cousin who is closest to my grandfather cried for him.

As I remember this now. I feel like I'm back at that moment.

Oikawa frowns as he watched his ex boyfriend with his new "toy." Next to him is Kuroo giving him an amused look.

"Stop staring at him princess."

"I'm not staring!" Oikawa huffed and glared at Kuroo. "It's just frustrating. How could he just flatly show off his new... ugh!"

"Arent you being a bit dramatic?" Kuroo laughed.

"Me dramatic?" Oikawa gasped.

Kuroo shook his head and chaste the other. "Didnt you guys broke up 3 years ago?"

"Excatly!" Oikawa turned his body toward Kuroo. "I'm unforgettable! How could he move on just after 3 years!"

"I dont know..." Kuroos voice is full of sarcasm. "Maybe you're not that memorable." He glanced at Oikawa and noticed that he might have teased the other too far.

"Hey now." Kuroo's voice got softer. "Don't make that face."

"This is my face." Oikawa answered. "Its a fucking pretty face!"

"Yes. Yes. It's a beautiful face."

Kuroo noticed that the people they were watching are now watching them after Oikawas outburst. He made eye contact with whom he presumed to be Oikawas ex, and with a possesive glint in his eyes, Kuroo took his friends face and kissed him.

Oikawa eyes dropped to close as his lips pressed against Kuroos. The kiss was soft and natural; the same comfortable kiss Oikawa and Kuroo shares when they are barely sober.

When they parted Oikawa asked Kuroo. "What was that for?"

"You looked like you were about to cry." Kuroo shrugged. "Come on. This party is boring." He took Oikawas hand and dragged him out.

Oikawa nodded and followed Kuroo, forgetting about the ex that he was just ranting about.

Akiteru Tsukishima knows he will never win the best big brother award. But at the young age of 16, he did what has to be done to survive with his 11 years old brother Kei. 

Truth to be told, the first mistake he did in his life is to run away from the orphanage with his brother, the second mistake is befriending another set of runaways and joined their organization. 

5 years later, he thought he had a chance to turn things around and to better example for Kei. He now knows how wrong he was; no one leaves Oikawa’s group. The gun is pointed on his head, and the last thing he thought is his brother, Kei before the light took over.

7. THE RIDDLE - plot involves the Protagonist’s search for clues to find the hidden meaning of something in question that is deliberately enigmatic or ambiguous.

9. UNDERDOG - plot involves a Protagonist competing for an object or goal that is at a great disadvantage and is faced with overwhelming odds.

10. TEMPTATION - plot involves a Protagonist that for one reason or another is induced or persuaded to do something that is unwise, wrong or immoral.

11. METAMORPHOSIS - this plot involves the physical characteristics of the Protagonist actually changing from one form to another (reflecting their inner psychological identity).

12. TRANSFORMATION - plot involves the process of change in the Protagonist as they journey through a stage of life that moves them from one significant character state to another.

13. MATURATION - plot involves the Protagonist facing a problem that is part of growing up, and from dealing with it, emerging into a state of adulthood (going from innocence to experience).

A lot of things had happened; set backs, almost getting caught, and someone actually dying on their trusted group. They all grieve differently, but Haibara noticed that Conan did not grieve. He didn’t even let out a single tear he just went on to look for the next clue. He became cold and hardened, not even blinking at his brushes with the grim rippers.

Haibara has enough of his growing recklessness. It was pouring rain, and thundering when she barged into his house. She grabbed him by his wrist and pulled him out into the pouring rain.

“Have you gone crazy?” He yelled at her.

“You need to grieve.” She told him.

“What?”

“You haven’t shed a single tear since...”

“What do you know!” He cut her off.

She saw his eyes behind his glasses, it was full of anger and grief. She reached out and take his useless glasses. “Don’t hide anymore.”

He looked at her with disbelief that they are arguing in the middle of the storm, yet she persisted and wrapped her arms around him. “Let it out,” she told him over the roaring storm. “No one will see your tears , so let it all out.”

His body shook as tears mixed with the rain. He cried out all of his anguish till he couldn’t anymore.
