My friend and I were talking and…
we both agree the thing with the Mandalorians and not being able to remove their helmets is complete and utter bs.
HOWEVER
We also got to talk about the confirmed Old Republic movies that were going to be made, and talked about Revan, because we talked about the helmets.
And we both came to the conclusion that…
Perhaps that group of Mandalorians were inspired by Revan.
Revan was known in the Old Republic to be very respected by the Mandalorians, because they defeated Mandalore during the Mandalorian Wars.
Apart from defeating Mandalore, Revan also pulled them into disorder by taking Mandalore’s helmet and hiding it, thus making sure, no one can be Mandalore after (of course later, Canderous Ordo becomes Mandalore, when Revan gives out the location of the revered helmet, finally reuniting the Mandalorians under one “banner”, so to speak).
Of course, that has nothing to do with Revan, since during Revan’s reign as the Dark Lord of the Sith and after, The Mandalorians weren’t exactly hiding their faces.
But something else happened at the beginning of the Mandalorian Wars, before Revan defeated them.
Revan took a mask, and

“I don’t know your name – but I take up your cause. I will not remove your mask until there is justice – until the Mandalorians have been defeated once and for all. So swears… Revan”
Revan was admired by the Mandalorians.
There are also known to be subsections of Revanites during the Old Republic, 300 years after his supposed death.
It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch if there’s a sort of cultural connection to the Old Ways.
And we do have Dave Filoni working on The Mandalorian as well, and Dave Filoni wanted Revan to be canon all the way back during the Clone Wars (you can see the deleted scene. George Lukas told him that it wasn’t possible, because as a Sith he can’t be a force ghost).
Look, I’m not saying this is a solid theory, but it’d definitely give out an explanation for why they can’t take off their helmets, if they think Revan - who btw wasn’t Mandalorian, but respected (also I love my Mandalorian-born Revan theory) by the Mandalorians and seen as someone among the other Mandalores who the Mandalorians should aspire to be like.
Maybe their goal is to hide until a time comes when someone takes on the Mandalore mantle.
What is definitely clear, is that not all the Mandalorians are doing this, as the Mandalorian would have been a child during the Clone Wars - and the Mandalorians freely showed their faces.

I’m sorry but it’s fine if you like the idea of Rey Nobody. Fine if that’s what you like, but please stop the idea that Star Wars built up the idea that you had to be born into some important family to be a powerful jedi...
#Literally Luke and Leia are the only ones in the OT#Star Wars#The Prequels?#They were all random#Revan? An absolute random#Obi-Wan? RANDOM AF#LUKE AND LEIA ARE THE ONLY NON-RANDOM

This is the last confirmation I need. It’s the last one everybody needs. Imo the ST was meant to be the story of Rey Skywalker and Finn, the defected Stormtrooper who brings down his oppressors. It’s all that makes sense after TFA.

“Rey isn’t a Skywalker, you’re gonna have to get over it eventually”
Uh - no. Fvck that. Sorry but the writers of these sequels never respected me or their property, so why tf would I respect that?
She’s always gonna be Luke’s bb girl, fvck all other answers.

Message to all Reyskys out there
Don’t get disencouraged by the ‘leaks’ and all the people who are jumping ship. Stay strong, we put up with too much shit these past two years, to just quit at the finish line

“The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga. The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story.” - Kathleen Kennedy

Kylo being the ‘Chosen One’ and ending everything up in betrayal for Luke is the perfect drama recipe for Rey Skywalker. There are so many speculations we can take from this, I can’t believe people think it ‘debunks’ ReySky.
I’m going to share one that comes to my mind right now.
Kylo feels entitled to the heritage of the Skywalker family. He feels it is his destiny to be the heir because he is ‘chosen’. This is his only evidence. A belief.
Then somewhere in the galaxy, far away, a ‘nobody’ experiences a literal awakening in the Force. It ruptures the senses of everyone, especially Snoke and Kylo Ren, as evidenced in TFA.
Everything that follows is history until we reach a vital detail of Rey during the final fight.
Rey takes the Skywalker saber. It called to her. What if it calls to her because she is the actual person chosen by the Force? And if the lightsaber was Anakin’s, and it’s calling to her, then what does this say?
The possibility that the ‘Force’ is none other than Anakin Skywalker himself in the Cosmic Force, guiding who he believes is worthy to finish what he started as THE Chosen One, when he redeemed to save Luke. THAT’S where it all STARTED. Not when he was Vader. When he became Anakin again.
So imagine where Kylo is understanding that the scavenger is playing the role HE believes is already playing. I can guarantee you that he will do everything in his power to toy around her demons and place Luke as this evil, cowardly figure. His fascination of Rey is because of how useful she can be for HIS glory. He HAS to convince her. Remind her that her position is the incorrect one. That she is being a decoy to HIS destiny. And he knows she is the awakening, but he will only remind her (either directly or indirectly) that she is nothing, a belief that is already deeply ingrained in Rey.
That everything around her is to serve everyone but herself. That their connection is a sign to this perspective. That she should be serving him, not to the galaxy at large and especially his uncle.
His mistake, however, will be underestimating the relationship between Rey and Luke. Rey and Luke NEED each other to fulfill their journey. No matter how troubled it starts, it will reach beyond the trust of a master-apprentice relationship. It will become familial.
This is why Luke needs to die. This is why he wants to kill him. He needed to be the last disciple of his uncle. This way, no one can surpass him. Absolutely no one. IN ANY WAY. No one can take what he feels entitled to. He needed to be the last apprentice to carry his uncle’s wisdom, and twist it to his own agenda.
But with Rey as the new apprentice of Luke and refusing to join him altogether, it’s going to be a massive blow to his entitlement. It also means that Rey is going to end really fucked up and defeated in this upcoming episode. Kylo will still win the battle.
But she will win the war. Because at the end, she will become honored by Luke. As family.
And it is at this moment that Kylo will never realize that he ended up suffering a defeat greater than anything he had experienced before.
His greatest enemy had now become everything he believes, desires and fears in his life, by the very essence that he believed was always on his side. He conned himself.
Rey had been honored as a Skywalker. Kylo was no longer alone.
I have more ideas as Rey being Luke’s daughter by blood. But even as a Skywalker in spirit, honor, merit (you name it) as I’ve speculated with this post in particular, I believe Rey Skywalker has great potential as a story. It creates tension, drama and anticipation.
I don’t tolerate people when they want to reduce Rey’s character because Kylo is the only confirmed character with Skywalker blood. It may very well end up being the case that Kylo is the only Skywalker of his generation.
But they will be seriously mistaken if this means that it’s Kylo’s Story. That is fanon thinking. That wasn’t the official reason to create the ST, and I’m certain LF won’t change their minds about that. This is Rey’s Story. Period.
