You Will Need:

One glass jar with lid.

Enough Gromsblood leaves to fill the jar.

Warm water.

Recipe:

1. Identify and gather enough Gromsblood leaves to loosely fill one jar.

Gromsblood, a deviously sharp-leaved herb named after the Orc warchief Grom Hellscream, can be found growing abundantly across the tainted forests of Felwood and around the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands.

To properly identify and gather this potent reagent, one must first recognize its distinct circular growth pattern, with each wickedly toothed leaf starting as a pale teal at the base before giving way to a striking fuschia-red hue at the razor-sharp tips. Piercing yellow veins wind intricately throughout each leaf, creating a visually stunning display. Gromsblood is known to "bleed" from the tips of its leaves while still rooted in the ground, a unique adaptation thought to aid in removing impurities from the soil in which it nests. However, this same characteristic can pose a significant risk to the unwary herbalist, as the edges of the leaves are sharp enough to easily lacerate unprotected skin.

To safely handle and gather Gromsblood, it is imperative to wear thick, sturdy leather gloves to prevent any accidental cuts or bleeding.

2. Chop the leaves into pieces and allow them to bleed in the jar for a few hours or until the jar is full.

Once collected, the leaves of the herb are roughly chopped into smaller pieces, as this increases the surface area from which the sap can be exuded. These cut segments are then placed into a clean, sterile jar, stacked in layers until the jar is filled to the desired capacity. Over the course of several hours, the segments will begin to weep copious amounts of the red sap, which accumulates at the bottom of the jar. After having collected the viscous crimson sap from the Gromsblood, the next step is to meticulously remove any residual leaf shards. Application, Results & Effects

Upon application, the sap will temporarily stain the sclera and surrounding skin, giving the appearance of blood weeping from the eyes. While disconcerting in appearance, this effect is entirely harmless.

Once the elixir takes hold, the user will be imbued with the otherworldly perception of a demon hunter, able to perceive the true forms of any demons in their vicinity, regardless of any shape-shifting or illusions employed to conceal their nature. It is said that to gaze upon a demon with elixir-enhanced eyes is to behold a vision of infernal malevolence - all brimstone, shadow, and cruelty.

While this ability is of unparalleled utility in unveiling demonic influence, the unsettling appearance of the imbiber under the effects of the elixir can also serve a secondary purpose on the field of battle. The sight of an individual seemingly weeping blood while staring down the enemy with orbs of uncanny perception may strike terror into the heart of any foe, sowing fear and discord among their ranks and rendering them vulnerable to attack.

Side Effects

This elixir has very few side effects, aside from staining of the eyes and face. The effect of the elixir can last up to one hour after application, but the staining has been shown to persist longer. Me and my classmates have tested the elixir on ourselves to mixed results. I, a dracthyr, found that the elixir did little to stain the scales on my face after application, but staining of the eyes did last for the one-hour duration. My worgen classmates found that the elixir stained their facial fur for up to one week. Soft-skinned mortals like the humans and elves in the class had the skin around their eyes and their cheeks stained for one day at most.

Origin: Orcish Alchemy.

You Will Need:

One jar of Gromsblood sap.

One jar of Ghost Mushroom spores.

A third, empty jar.

Warm water.

Recipe:

1. Prepare one jar of Gromsblood sap.

To prepare a jar of Gromsblood sap, one must first procure a specimen of the Gromsblood herb, which is most readily identifiable by its thick, fleshy leaves that taper to sharp points. The plant spreads outward in a radial pattern close to the ground, forming a circular mat of sizable leaves. Each leaf is notable for its viciously serrated margins, which appear as sharp, jagged teeth along the edges. Side Effects

The Elixir of Demonslaying, while imbuing the imbiber with impressive strength, speed, and demonic resistance for a limited time, also carries with it a number of undesirable side effects.

Immediately upon consumption, the elixir causes an intense burning sensation as it courses through the veins, accompanied by a surge of adrenaline and a heightened state of aggression. The imbiber may experience tunnel vision, tachycardia, and tremors as the elixir takes full effect.

Psychologically, the elixir evokes feelings of invincibility and bloodlust, potentially clouding the user's judgment and causing them to take undue risks.

As the effects of the elixir begin to dissipate, the imbiber undergoes a painful withdrawal marked by nausea, dizziness, severe headache, and an overall feeling of bodily weakness. Hallucinations and paranoia are not uncommon during this phase.

Long-term side effects may include organ damage, particularly to the liver and heart, as well as persistent neurological issues such as chronic migraines and intermittent tremors. Some users, such as Legionfall veterans, have reported lingering anger management problems and a propensity toward violent outbursts even when not under the immediate influence of the elixir. As such, the use of the Elixir of Demonslaying is highly regulated and generally reserved for only the most dire of circumstances.

Ghost Dye

Difficulty: Artisan alchemy. Ghost mushrooms are often expensive and dangerous for civilian alchemists to get a hold of due to their limited distribution in hazardous locations.

Origin: Feralas/Un'goro Crater Alchemy.

You Will Need:

One vial of purple dye.

Two vial's worth of Ghost Mushroom stems.

Recipe:

1. Gather and prepare two vials worth of Ghost Mushroom stems.

To begin, one must venture into the dark, damp caves where these bioluminescent fungi reside, as they cannot tolerate any exposure to sunlight. The Ghost Mushroom gets its name from its pale, almost transparent coloration and bioluminescent glow. Wearing protective gloves to avoid contact with the highly toxic caps, gently harvest the ghost mushrooms and place them into a glass jar. Seal the jar and give it a gentle shake to dislodge the valuable spores from the fruiting bodies. Once the spores have settled to the bottom, open the jar and carefully remove the intact mushrooms. Many armored designs that utilize ghost die actually originated from the undead Scourge in Northrend. The scourge would use a similar substance to imbue the ribcages of constructs, as well as creating stygian shields and shrouds of forbidden magic to clothe their spellcasters.

Finally, in the art of jewelcrafting, Ghost Dye is employed in the creation of spell foci that harness and amplify the power of magic. When held in the off-hand of a spellcaster, these enchanted trinkets glow with an eerie, pulsating light, channeling arcane energies with unparalleled precision and potency. These designs also originated from designs of the Scourge. Foci such as the Frostwyrm's Icy Gaze and Frostwyrm's Frigid Stare enhance the wielder's frost magic and were widely employed by liches and undead ritualists against the living.

"The stem tincture of this mushroom has a more whimsical use- it is used in making a clothing dye known as Ghost Dye. Tailors mix this substance with standard purple dye to create a thin dye of a watery lavender color. When applied to Runecloth, it creates a fabric called Ghostweave. Artisan alchemy. While alchemy trainers do not teach this recipe in classes, particularly skilled alchemists may be able to find this recipe on the market for a few gold. In addition, the ingredients required are expensive and often dangerous to acquire for the average alchemist, making the creation of this elixir even more challenging.

You Will Need:

One wide-mouthed jars.

A pair of thick leather gloves, for safety.

Four Gromsblood leaves.

One bundle of Sungrass.

Fresh water.

A source of heat.

Recipe:

1. Prepare a jar of Gromsblood sap.

To prepare a jar of Gromsblood sap, one must first carefully harvest the razor-sharp leaves of the Gromsblood plant, taking great care to avoid being cut by the toothed edges. Thick leather gloves are essential protective gear when handling this dangerous herb.

Upon imbibing the elixir, one is greeted by a surprisingly bright and refreshing flavor profile, with notes of citrus and lemongrass dancing upon the tongue. However, this initial pleasant taste is quickly followed by a intensely bitter aftertaste that lingers in the mouth.

While under the effects of the Elixir of Giants, a normal person could potentially lift enormous boulders, bend metal bars, or engage in other acts of incredible superhuman strength. However, while providing temporary superhuman strength, this elixir comes with significant drawbacks that must be carefully considered before use.

After the effects of the elixir wear off, the user will experience a period of extreme fatigue and weakness, as the body recovers from the immense strain of enhanced strength. During this recovery phase, the user's strength will actually be diminished below their normal baseline, leaving them vulnerable. There is also the risk of muscle tears, ligament damage, and other bodily harm resulting from overexertion while under the elixir's influence.

Gift of Arthas

The Gift of Arthas is an elixir with a controversial origin. Even to this day, the dissemination of copies of this recipe is highly controlled by some few of Azeroth's brightest alchemists. Considering how high of a risk use of this potion is, I will not be including a recipe in this entry. Rather, I will discuss the origins of the Gift of Arthas, and how it has changed over time.

The Cult of the Damned

The Gift of Arthas elixir was a sinister concoction devised by the nefarious Cult of the Damned, a cabal of living acolytes who pledged their fealty to the Lich King in the years preceding the Third War. This shadowy sect, which laid the groundwork for the rise of the undead Scourge under the ultimate authority of the Burning Legion, brewed a viscous serum of swirling black and blue hues that shimmered with an eerie opalescence.

When consumed, the elixir imbued the imbiber with potent protection against the dark arts of shadow magic. However, this boon came at a terrible price, as any being who made contact with the elixir's wielder would be afflicted with a ravaging, feverish malady. The very touch of the afflicted would cause the victim's flesh to become as thin and delicate as a butterfly's wing, with the curse spreading rapidly from the initial point of contact.

While the worst of the affliction would typically abate within a matter of hours for both the elixir's wielder and their victims, the highly infectious nature of the curse, which combined elements of both disease and dark sorcery, could wreak untold devastation if unleashed in densely populated areas. In a cruel twist of irony, it was the Death Knights, once the most elite and loyal servants of the Lich King, who became the most notorious and feared carriers of the Gift of Arthas, their very presence a harbinger of suffering and despair.

Treatment for the Gift of Arthas

The Gift of Arthas, a condition that is both a disease and a magical curse, presents a formidable challenge for even the most skilled healers to overcome. Conventional medical treatments and remedies prove woefully inadequate in the face of this affliction, as its roots lie in the realm of dark magic and not mere biological causes.

However, hope is not lost for those unfortunate enough to contract this curse, for healers who wield the power of the divine and the natural world possess the means to break its insidious grip. Priests, calling upon the blessings of the Light, may beseech the heavens to purge the curse from the sufferer's body and soul. Druids, intimately attuned to the primal forces of life and nature, can draw upon the regenerative energies of the earth to restore balance and vitality to the afflicted. Shamans, bridging the gap between the physical and spiritual realms, have the capacity to negotiate with the elemental spirits to cleanse the curse and mend the wounded essence of the victim. Healing Wings like myself, born with an innate gift for mending even the most grievous wounds and maladies, possess the power of the Red flight to unravel the dark magic. Azeroth has no shortage of supernatural sources of mending and I have no doubt that there are more healers than the ones listed her who possess the ability to treat a person afflicted with the Gift of Arthas.

Elixir of Greater Agility

Difficulty:

Artisan alchemy. Alchemy trainers in major faction cities will teach this recipe to their most senior of students who have proven themselves worthy of such knowledge.

You Will Need:

One bundle of fresh Sungrass.

Fresh water.

One handful of Goldthorn.

Strong liquor, such as bourbon or vodka.

One jar, for tincturing.

One crystal vial and fitted cork.

Recipe:

1. Prepare a tincture of Goldthorn.

The first and most critical step is the proper crushing of the Goldthorn bramble, which possesses a hardness that surpasses many common metals. A hammer of steel or stronger material is essential for this task, as lesser implements will likely shatter against the herb's formidable thorns. It is highly recommended to perform the crushing personally to ensure the quality and consistency of the dust. After this step, meticulously gather all residue from the crushing surface, taking care not to waste even the finest particles. The collected Goldthorn dust is then placed in a vessel containing a strong alcohol, where it must steep for several days in a location shielded from light. 2. Prepare a Sungrass tonic.

Meanwhile, the harvested Sungrass should be hung to dry in a dark, well-ventilated area for precisely three days. Once dried, the brittle leaves are carefully crumbled by hand into a fine golden powder, which is then steeped in purified spring water that has been brought just to the brink of boiling. The mixture is allowed to steep, lidded, for five to seven minutes, until it achieves a rich, lustrous gold hue.

Finally, the tonic is strained through a fine mesh sieve to remove any remaining plant matter, resulting in a crystal clear liquid that sparkles invitingly in the light.

3. Add one dram of Goldthorn tincture to one vial of Sungrass tonic.

Recipe:

The Elixir of Dream Vision is a potent alchemical concoction that enables the drinker to enter a deep, trance-like slumber and allow their spirit to wander freely, even into realms too perilous for the physical body to tread. To brew this mystical elixir, one must procure three delicate petals of the enigmatic Purple Lotus, a rare bloom found only in the fetid groves of Felwood. The wise Timbermaw furbolg, who have long collected this herb, know to first make an offering - customarily a tooth from a fallen tribesman or a grim trophy from a vanquished demon such as a hoof, horn, claw, or fang - placed reverently beside the lotus to appease its defensive nature. Only then may the petals be safely gathered.

Three freshly plucked petals should be crushed and steeped in pure water to release their oneiric essence. If circumstances necessitate a delay in the brew's consumption, the petals can be dried and stored, then pulverized and immersed in water when the time comes to partake of the elixir.

The flavor of the Elixir of Dream Vision is surprisingly refreshing and light on the palate.

I was able to go into the next room over, identified what was on the paper, and wrote it down when I woke up. My classmates confirmed that what I saw was what was written on the paper. In addition, none of my classmates saw my conciousness leave my body -- except for one who is a shaman. This proved that the effects of an Elixir of Dream Vision are true.

Ghost Mushrooms grow exclusively in the depths of certain caves. The most well-known caves where Ghost Mushroom clusters thrive are Skulk Rock, nestled in the rugged Hinterlands, and Fungal Rock, hidden amidst the lush jungles of Un'goro Crater. Explorers and alchemists seeking to harvest these mushrooms must remain vigilant, as Skulk Rock is infested with malevolent oozes, while Fungal Rock is guarded by aggressive, territorial gorillas.

The fungus exhibits an otherworldly appearance, with pale, semi-translucent caps that emit an eerie blue-white luminescence. While the toxic caps of Ghost Mushrooms have limited applications, the true value of this fungus lies in its spores. These spores are harvested by delicately agitating the mature mushrooms within a sealed jar, allowing the spores to be collected without damaging the fragile fungal structures.

2. Harvest and prepare a bundle of Sungrass.

Sungrass, a striking and aromatic herb native to the arid mesas of Thousand Needles, can be identified by its resplendent clumps of shimmering golden blades that wave gently in the desert breeze. As beautiful as Sungrass is to behold, perhaps its most notable characteristic is the delicate, floral fragrance of lemon it exudes.

To collect Sungrass, one must journey to the towering plateaus overlooking the flooded canyons of Thousand Needles, where the herb propagates abundantly along the rim, likely spread there by its buoyant seeds floating up from the ravines after the Shattering. Gathering the herb is a straightforward process of cutting or plucking the blades, ideally when the plant is more mature to ensure a richer golden color and potency.

3. Combine the Ghost Mushroom spores with the Sungrass.

Combined with Sungrass tonic, the spores greatly aide in stealth, rendering the imbiber nearly invisible to the untrained eye.

To brew an Invisibility Potion, begin by first preparing a tonic of Sungrass. Rinse the Sungrass thoroughly under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris, pat the stalks dry, then finely chop or bruise them to help release the beneficial compounds. Place the prepared Sungrass into a glass jar or ceramic container and pour boiling water over it. The ratio of Sungrass to water is typically 1 part grass to 4 parts water. Cover the container and allow the mixture to steep for 15-20 minutes. During this time, the hot water will extract the products of the sungrass into the water. These compounds are known to have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. After steeping, strain out the plant material using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, pressing on the grass to extract as much liquid as possible. While this plant once grew abundantly in the Hinterlands, it is now found primarily near leyline concentrations in the Plaguelands.

To obtain the plant material needed for crafting an Elixir of Greater Intellect, one must carefully time the harvesting of the hops. The ideal window is after the cone-like flowers have emerged in their fullness, but before they begin to dry on the living plant.

2. Collect and prepare one whole Blindweed plant.

To properly harvest a whole Blindweed specimen for use in making an Elixir of Greater Intellect, one must first learn to identify this flower amidst the untamed wilds. Search for dark green leaves resembling those of the common dandelion, radiating outward in a basal rosette. From this foliage emerges thin, spindly stems, each one precariously bearing the weight of Blindweed's signature blooms - small flowers reminiscent of daisies, their fragile petals transitioning from a deep, bruised purple in the buds to a pale, ghostly blue when fully unfurled. Blindweed nearly always displays both youthful buds and mature blossoms simultaneously, the nascent flowers appearing oddly cataract-like as they weakly reflect the light.

3. Combine the Blindweed root juice and Goldthorn extract precisely.

Purple Lotus is a rare flowering plant endemic to Felwood. Collection of the herb by the furbolg is preceded by the leaving of an offering, customarily a tooth from a fallen tribesman or the claws, fangs, hooves or horns of a vanquished demon, in order to propitiate the plant's constrictive defense response, a trait it shares with Dragonsteeth.

The preparation of Purple Lotus for alchemical and medicinal purposes requires care and attention to detail to render the herb safe for consumption. Begin by carefully inspecting each individual leaf and excising the necrotic, blackened growths that protrude from the surface. These abnormal structures exude a viscous, green ichor when removed. The ideal implement for this delicate procedure is a finely honed blade, as it minimizes the risk of contamination. The incised portions of the leaf are then swiftly seared using a smoldering branch taken from a fire. This step cauterizes the leaf to prevent any further noxious secretions. Only then can the Purple Lotus be consumed without ill effect.

2. Procure a vial of moonwater.

Members of the Alliance can obtain moonwater from Kaldorei settlements. First, they must locate the nearest available moonwell. Not every Kaldorei settlement or grove has a moonwell, but most do. There, the alchemist must reverently approach the well and fill an empty vial with the shimmering, luminescent water imbued with the power of the moon goddess Elune. Moonwells are usually guarded by Wardens or Sentinels, so Alliance members must gain their permission and possibly prove their worthiness before being granted the privilege of obtaining this precious resource. Moonwells are places of deep spiritual significance to the Kaldorei, and the water is considered a holy sacrament, so it must be procured with great respect and gratitude.

The ways in which members of the Horde obtained moonwater for alchemical purposes has evolved over time from an antagonistic process to one of cooperation. Historically, the Horde resorted to forcibly taking moonwater from Kaldorei lands or obtaining it surreptitiously. However, in recent times, the Kaldorei have granted conditional access for the Horde to enter their settlement of Bel'ameth, situated beneath the sprawling canopy of the World Tree Amirdrassil. Within the heart of the city lies a consecrated pool containing moonwater. Horde delegates seeking to procure a portion of this blessed liquid must earn the approval of the Sentinels who stand watch over the new settlement. These guardians possess the authority to permit or deny access to the moonwater at their discretion. Should they deem a Horde petitioner's request valid and intentions benign, they may award them with a small moonwater sample. This arrangement, while a significant departure from past hostilities, remains a delicate and closely monitored interaction between the Horde and Kaldorei.

As a neutral Dracthyr, I find Bel'ameth to be the most reliable source of moonwater. Bel'ameth itself is an extremely safe settlement that has experienced no significant threats since the defeat of Fyrakk the Blazing. Compared to Felwood, Bel'ameth has a bounty of moonwater and minimal monster attacks, if you can afford a mage to teleport you there.

3. Bring the moonwater to a boil and add the Purple Lotus petal.

Traditionally, the Timbermaw would take one leaf with water to gain an uncanny perception of nearby undead, even seeing the undead through obstructions like fog or foliage. However, the petals of Purple Lotus do not keep for as long as Elixirs do, and are prone to bruising in transport. Thus, alchemists have devised a means of replicating this effect in the form of an elixir.

To brew the elixir, a vial of moonwater is held over a flame until it reaches a rolling boil, at which point the Purple Lotus petal is added to the roiling liquid. As the petal makes contact, the water will flash a brilliant purple before settling to a deep, opaque crimson. Once the elixir resembles fresh blood, quench the vial in an bath of cold water and seal with a cork.

This process brings out the active alchemical properties of the Purple Lotus without breaking it down, leaving the most essential components of the petal intact for humanoid consumption.

The Elixir of Detect Undead has a striking appearance and unique magical properties. Despite its simple recipe, the resulting elixir takes on an unsettling red hue, completely opaque and reminiscent of freshly spilled blood. The viscous liquid carries a surprisingly floral scent, with delicate aromatic notes that seem to dance upon the tongue and tickle the olfactory senses, belying its macabre coloration.

When imbibed, the elixir imbues the drinker with a temporary yet powerful extrasensory ability - the capacity to perceive the presence of undead creatures in the nearby vicinity, even when such entities would normally be obscured from view. Curiously, the presence of Purple Lotus has a purifying effect on the fetid waters in which it grows, with clear puddles often signifying the proximity of the flower. The Timbermaw furbolg, who hold the bloom sacred, recognize this cleansing property.

Collection of the herb by the furbolg is preceded by the leaving of a votive offering, customarily a tooth from a fallen tribesman or the claws, fangs, hooves or horns of a vanquished demon, in order to propitiate the plant's constrictive defense response, a trait it shares with Dragonsteeth. So rare and perilous is Purple Lotus that it is accorded a status similar to that of a sage herb in the herblore of the furbolg.

Wildvine Potion

Difficulty:

Expert alchemy. The recipe itself isn't complicated, however alchemy trainers do not teach this recipe in classes, and acquiring the ingredients needed can be exceedingly dangerous to the civilian alchemist.

Considering that the recipe originated from the Timbermaw of Felwood, this recipe is considered to be ethnic medicine and is thus closely guarded. This is done to prevent the poaching of already rare resources in Felwood.

You Will Need:

One cluster of Wildvine.

One Purple Lotus petal.

Fresh water.

Recipe:

To craft this vibrant pink potion, one must first delicately crush a cluster of Wildvine. The resulting paste is then combined with the Purple Lotus petal, which imbues the mixture with its own unique magical properties. Wildvine

Colloquial names: Strong-grow, Ironvine, Atal’fon (devoted lone one, roughly, in Zandali)

Physical Description: Wildvine is a small, creeping vine that only grows in Troll ruins, along the rivers of Stranglethorn, and on the petals of Felwood’s Purple Lotus. The only safe place to retrieve the herb is by untwining it from the petals of the lotus, but this is not advised unless it drops with a petal naturally, as the two seem to have a symbiotic relationship. It is a slender stalked, yellowy woodvine with heart-shaped leaves and conical clusters of small purple flowers. The plant seems to volunteer its flowers to passing insects, protecting the lotus. The vine has remarkable regenerative properties- a new complete plant can grow from a small segment of cut herb, and the flowers and length of the vine flourish rapidly. I have seen a new floral cluster replace a completely consumed one in less than a day. The other location in which this vine has been observed is amongst the Vilebranch trolls of Jintha’alor, in the Hinterlands. They seem to use it as living armor. Bound with the hides of beasts, this strong vine is both a natural camouflage and a resilient cover from attacks. Some adventurous leatherworkers use it in such a manner to create what is known as “wild leather”. It is a good option for the traveler that requires cover from enemies, or passes places of repair infrequently. Great clusters of Wildvine cover the temple city of Jintha’alor, but venturing near this forest troll territory is ill-advised.

Described Usage: A cluster of Wildvine’s flowers can be crushed with a petal of Purple Lotus and water to make Wildvine Potion. This brightly pink hued liquid restores vitality and magical energy to the user at a rather accelerated rate. The translucent, heart-shaped leaves of the woodvine can be used to bandage the skin, bonding with wounds to stop blood loss or patch areas of lost skin. It is highly useful in treating scrapes and burns. The flowers themselves are restorative. Crushed and applied to wounds, they provide increased wound healing. Eaten raw, they are a powerful antifungal and antiparasitic, used by troll and man alike to treat bodily infestation.

Mudsnout Blossom, an enormous species of blue-green mushroom endemic to the Hillsbrad Foothills region, have been found to contain unique restorative properties for undead physiology. While the flesh and spores of these fungi are highly toxic to living creatures, inducing nausea, paralysis and eventually death in most mammals, the opposite effect is observed when Mudsnout Blossoms are consumed by undead such as the Forsaken. The active compounds bind to necrotic tissue and stimulate cellular regeneration through a poorly understood mechanism, allowing partial reversal of decomposition and decay.

To prepare a restorative elixir, the mature caps of the mushrooms must be harvested, cleaned of any soil or debris, and steeped in purified water for several days until a deep blue liquid is produced. This concentrated extract can then be consumed directly or added to tinctures and salves to be applied topically.

The potency of the elixir is dependent on the freshness and quantity of the Mudsnout Blossoms used. While not a true panacea for undeath, the regular application of Mudsnout Blossom extract can significantly slow the rate of bodily degeneration experienced by undead creatures, preserving function and forestalling the need for more drastic necromantic intervention. As such, the Forsaken and other sapient undead have come to value this rare fungus as an important component in their physical maintenance and even dedicate resources to its cultivation.

Azerothian Botany - Mudsnout Blossom

Mudsnout blossoms, which are a type of large mushroom, grow exclusively on an abandoned farm known as Nethander Stead in Hillsbrad Foothills. This fungus is rather toxic to living things but can provide a restorative boost to the undead when eaten [Quest: Kasha Will Fly Again]. It’s implied that the gnolls inhabiting the farm have something to do with the presence of these mushrooms [Quest: Elixir of Agony].

Transmute: Mithril into Truesilver

The transmutation of mithril into truesilver requires a deep understanding of the metallic structures and properties of these rare metals.

The alchemist must first procure a sufficient quantity of pure mithril, which is known for its incredible lightness, strength, and resistance to corrosion. Through extensive study and experimentation, the alchemist deciphers the precise arrangement of mithril's structure and the magical forces that bind it together.

Armed with this knowledge, the alchemist can begin the delicate work of deconstructing the mithril at a fundamental level, channeling the energy stored within the metal through a Philosopher's Stone. As the mithril breaks down into a swirling vortex of particles, the alchemist must maintain perfect control, guiding the transmutation with unwavering concentration. Slowly, the mithril's essence is reshaped, its metallic lattice reconfigured to match the unique structure of truesilver.

Transmutation requires immense mental fortitude, and even the slightest lapse in focus can cause the volatile energies to spiral out of control, often with catastrophic consequences. But if performed successfully, the newly forged truesilver will possess an otherworldly sheen and almost supernatural purity, highly prized for its ability to store and conduct magical energies.

Scientific analysis has revealed that mithril possesses a unique crystalline microstructure that imparts it with an impressive array of desirable physical and mechanical properties. Mithril exhibits an exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio, with a tensile strength on par with advanced titanium alloys despite being significantly less dense. This enables the creation of armor, weapons, and equipment that are remarkably lightweight yet still provide superior protection and durability compared to items crafted from more conventional metals. Mithril's crystalline lattice also imbues it with unparalleled ductility and malleability, allowing it to be worked into intricate shapes and designs without compromising its structural integrity.

Mithril's most notable trait is its apparent resistance to corrosion, tarnishing, and general wear - a property that would require a high degree of alchemical stability and inertness, also known as "nobility" among metals. Despite its lightweight nature, truesilver also exhibits an astonishing strength-to-weight ratio, surpassing some of the more advanced alloys known to mortal metallurgists. The metal's unique crystalline structure, composed of tightly-packed, magically-infused lattices, grants it unparalleled durability and resilience against physical stresses.

Truesilver's arcane properties have long captivated scholars and craftsmen alike, as the metal seems to resonate with mystical energies. When imbued into armor through meticulous dweomercraft (enchantment), truesilver imparts an almost mythical level of protection, enhancing the wearer's defenses against both mundane and supernatural threats. Armorers I have interviewed speak of this treatment with reverence, claiming that it bestows upon mortals a glimpse of the invulnerability of gods. While such claims may be tinged with exaggeration, there is no denying the exceptional qualities that truesilver brings to heavy armor.

The metal's scarcity only adds to its allure, as it is seldom found in isolated deposits, instead occurring alongside mithril or thorium veins. I suggest buying a whole ingot of truesilver before attempting to transmute mithril into more truesilver, as experimenting with the metal will teach more about its properties.

With this knowledge in hand, the alchemist then channels this power using the Philosopher's Stone, carefully unraveling the bonds holding the mithril together at the atomic level. The stone's energy resonates with the metal and renders its structure malleable and susceptible to change.

As the mithril's form destabilizes, the alchemist must maintain a delicate balance, exerting their will to guide the transmutation process while simultaneously preventing the metal from disintegrating entirely. It is a task that requires immense focus, discipline, and a mastery of the subtle energies at play, for even the slightest lapse in concentration could result in catastrophic failure.

4. The Reconstruction of Truesilver

Once the mithril has been reduced to its most basic components, the alchemist can then begin the process of reconstruction, using the Philosopher's Stone to weave the atoms back together. The Philosopher's Stone acts as a focus, drawing out the latent potential energy contained within the metal's molecular bonds and converting it into magical energy. This sudden influx of magic excites the mithril, causing the substance to shift orbitals and form new arcane entanglements with adjacent particles. As the waveforms of the individual atoms begin to synchronize and harmonize, the mithril undergoes a phase transition, its lattice structure collapsing and reassembling itself at the subatomic level. Additional Notes

Upon attempting or successfully completing a transmutation, it is imperative that the alchemist refrain from attempting any further transmutations for a period of at least 24 hours. The process of transmuting matter from one form to another is an incredibly taxing endeavor, both physically and mentally. During transmutation, the alchemist must maintain unwavering focus and concentration, channeling their energy and will to manipulate the very fabric of reality. This intense exertion can leave the mind fatigued and strained, requiring ample time to recover.

Attempting additional transmutations too soon after an initial success can overburden the alchemist's mental faculties, potentially leading to errors, miscalculations, or even catastrophic failures. In the worst cases, an overworked mind may be unable to properly control the transmutation process, resulting in unintended mutations, dangerous instability, or irreversible damage to the alchemist themselves.

Consider taking the day off from studying, reading, brewing, or other mentally intensive activities. I have personally found foraging for herbs in the evening to be a relaxing passtime after having attempted transmutation.

Potion of Curing

Difficulty:

Intermediate alchemy. While not taught by trainers in major cities, this potion is popular among marine crews and is often found in washed up trunks and chests along coastlines of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Additionally, copies of the recipe can be purchased.

Ingredients:

One large venom sac from any venomous creature. It does not have to be specific.

One whole Bruiseweed plant, roots, stems and flowers intact and washed of dirt and debris.

One crystal vial, for bottling.

Makes one potion. Single vial batches reccomended for ensured accuracy of measurements.

Recipe:

The brewing of a Potion of Curing requires precise ingredients and technique to achieve the desired curative effects. To begin, procure one large venom sac from a venomous creature such as a snake or spider. The venom sac must be carefully extracted to avoid puncturing and be fresh, as the potency of the venom is critical to the efficacy of the potion. Next, obtain one whole Bruiseweed plant, taking great care to keep the roots fully intact during harvesting. In this recipe, Bruiseweed is valued for its analgesic properties.

To brew, finely mince the venom sac and Bruiseweed and place both reagents in a copper cauldron. Add purified spring water and bring to a low boil, stirring the mixture clockwise with a wooden spoon. Allow the potion to simmer until it turns a golden hue and reduces to half the original volume. Remove from heat and let cool before straining out the solid ingredients using a fine mesh sieve. Decant the potion into glass vials sealed with wax and store away from direct sunlight.

If brewed properly, the resulting Potion of Curing is capable of curing up to four different poisons when imbibed. Sailors and pirates alike covet Potions of Curing while out on the open sea to treat all manner of poisoning -- including alcoholic poisoning, food poisoning, envenomation by sea monsters, and even sea sickness.
