albedo

stares at you too long for comfort. he doesn’t seem to notice or understand the effect his idle gaze has on you.

the majority of his stares occur in your shared living space, where he’ll be seated at a desk with a book in-hand. on the other hand, you’re sitting on a lounge chair with your legs curled against your torso and a mug resting on your knees.

while you take interest in the scene outside the window, keenly watching as a certain cheerful blonde decorated in red chases after a kite — albedo takes his interest in the way the warm yellow light frames your face.

albedo is quiet, but you haven't heard him turn a page in a while. turning your attention away from klee, you look to see that he's staring intently at you.

“.. you’re staring again, albedo.” “.. is that a problem?”

kazuha

has no presence. in your eyes, kazuha's presence is never unwelcome, but, his lack of, is.

perhaps it's the result of his life experiences. after spending years primarily running away from the tenryou commission, he's learned to conceal his presence as a defense mechanism.

life on the crux is mundane more often than not, and when kazuha finds that he's stared at the same set of clouds for a little too long -- he seeks you out.

"maybe these books would fit better over there..?" you ask yourself, holding onto a stack of books while staring at a row of shelves.

"do you need any help?" a sudden voice questions next to your ear.

startled, you drop a book from the pile in your hands onto your food. the sudden weight slammed onto your foot makes you jump and you nearly trip over it.

kazuha, who was hovering over your shoulder, notices the approaching disaster and quickly places his hands on your waist to stabilize you.

his face is innocent and free of any guilt but you know he's putting an act on, the little shit.

".. kazuha, i told you not to do that." ".. sorry."

tighnari

is always listening. you're never able to peacefully do anything around your place as tighnari can always hear and calls you out on it. although, to be fair -- half of these things you're forbidden from doing. and in this case, operating with a cast on your broken limb.

"are you.. organizing the books on the shelves?" tighnari's voice echos from the other room, "of all times, now you want to organize them?"

you can only roll your eyes, offering no verbal response but tighnari knows you heard him given the momentary pause he can hear you take from organizing the books.

the sound of his chair screeching against the floorboard in the other room has you sighing, and you turn around to see him propped up against the doorway of the room.

"can you not?" you grumble, referring to his hearing, it's a slightly petty question on your end knowing that for one, he's kind of right -- and two:

".. my anatomy doesn't allow for that."

xiao

follows you. before you were aware of the yaksha's past, you often frowned at the sight of him in the distance. he stands on high mountain peaks, looks down at you, and leaves when he notices you've spotted him.

in your eyes, it seems like he doesn't think you're capable enough to walk a kilometer home after visiting him at the inn. in his eyes, its his way of showing affection.

when you did learn about his past, you realize that his behaviour likely stems from all the losses he's endured in the many years he's been alive. you feel a bit warm knowing that he values you enough to make sure you're not in danger.

"why don't you just walk alongside me rather than from a distance?" you hum, leaning against the railing of the inn as he stands next to you. the yaksha frowns as he turns to you, his gaze wanders on the beaded jewelry on your person. the one he gifted you to ward off evil spirits if he wasn't around.

"i thought you didn't like it when i followed you around? "yeah, when you follow me from a distance." ".. okay."

you hesitantly put down the book you were reading down, glancing at kazuha who sits next to you with a hopeful glance.

"kazuha, no." you respond firmly before picking back up your book and looking away, not wanting to see the disappointment in eyes.

however, since you aren't looking at him -- you don't see that he's still very determined to make you his photography subject

"it'll just be for a few hours, that's it." kazuha continues, sliding his elbows on the table closer to you in order to gain your attention.

feeling a bit shy from his sudden proximity, you cough awkwardly and slide away from him in response. ".. a few hours is way too long for a simple photoshoot."

kazuha sighs, pulling away from you to lean back against his chair. "finer things in life should be enjoyed slowly after all.." he mutters under his breath while staring at the ceiling lights of the library.

"i couldn't hear you, what did you say?" you say, turning back towards him.

kazuha shakes his head, "nothing."

you think he's finally given up on getting you to be his subject until he perks back up in his seat, startling you in the process.

he pushes the textbook away from you, forcing you to look at him. "just one hour then, that's all i need."

after a long moment of silence, you sigh. "how about this, if you can't find someone else to be your subject, then i will."

"deal," kazuha responds quickly. "i'll let you know then if i can't find someone else."

unfortunately for you, he texts you two days later saying he couldn't find someone. what he didn't tell you? he never asked anyone else.

types of writing utensils they use

albedo

he uses a cheap ballpoint pen. used to use an expensive fountain pen but it had too many issues like leaking while in the pocket of his button-up, or constantly being taken and misplaced by his lab partners timaeus and sucrose.

kazuha

he writes artistic pieces containing flowery language on the daily and as much as i want to say he has the nice writing utensils from like muji or something - his most used tool is a wooden hb2 pencil he found inside a random desk next to a slab of dried chewing gum.

tighnari

he uses a 0.5mm lead pencil. he has a delicate hand grip along with an eye for finer details. he's able to sketch his botanical drawings with keen accuracy using a thinner lead.

xiao

he uses a 0.7mm lead pencil with a rubber grip. holds his pencil in a deadlock so the grip helps alleviates the tension on his fingers. has to be 0.7mm because he presses down onto the paper with such heavy pressure that 0.5mm lead would either immediately break or puncture a hole into the sheet which would ruin his mood for the rest of the day.
