my favorite scene ever when simon is buried and has to dig himself out of his grave (my keyboard predictions had this sentence memorized btw) it's wild. it's primal. it's humiliating. the way he forgot clary. raphael ripping bags of blood for him like some animal UGH goosebumps

when valentine kills the silent brothers and jace hears their screams in his cell. they must have been so scared to break through the physical and magical barriers that keep them from making any sound. chills. literal chills.

when simon almost kills maureen and jordan has to pry him off of her before he drains all her blood. and it gives him perspective on what happened with jordan in the past so he can't hate him for attacking maia

i am now realizing all of these are very morbid. so here are some honorable mentions that i also love:

when kit is trying to sneak some weapons out of the institute and jace pats him on the back and all of the shit he stole falls out of his pockets. peak humor. literally the most memorable scene from tda for me

will and tessa making out in the attic drenched in holy water after will bit a vampire. i have no excuse for this i just liked the sexual tension

The thing about Neil's mistrust of Betsy is that unlike most fictional characters who dismiss psychologists, Neil doesn't write off her profession as quackery, nor does he consider himself well adjusted.

Neil knows he's fucked up. He knows his personality is paper thin, just another layer of papier mâché that he has spent his life trying to keep anyone from cracking open and seizing the calcified corpse of Nathaniel within.

Neil's existence hinges on total control over his own identity and being able to reinvent it on a dime. The idea that someone not only can, but in fact has made a professional career out of wresting that control away from him, cracking open the layers of paper and glue and not reaching for the center but making him look, is nothing short of a death sentence.

At first I though Livvy and Ty were just happy to have someone new around, someone their age. They saw how well Cristina and Emma bonded, maybe Kit could be someone like that for them.

Ty is so cute. He really wants to solve crimes and sees the sneaky and observant Kit as the perfect’s assistant, especially due to Kit’s background in crime.

Unlike many Shadowhunters we see, Ty having interests outside of fighting demons is fun. Especially when his intrest aligns with the genre. I always felt like the investigation in Lady Midnight didn’t go well as an investigation. The clues were solved more by teamwork, the power of friendship (Mark opening up about his time in Faerie, Cristina’s knowledge about translations) and Malcolm’s grand reveal. But if the younger Blackthorns handle the investigation in Lord of Shadows, then the older ones can get more stuff done. (And hopefully sort out their relationships.)

Ty has more knowledge of mundane world than most. It really highlights how “different” not just he, but all Blackthorns are, their mundane interests being small rebellions. And Kit seems to like rebeling against the Shadowhunter scociety norm, so i think he’ll be helpful.

Kit’s crushing on Livvy a bit here, which is also cute. I like how Kit is experiencing the intensity that both of the twins can display, with Livvy’s being public, and Ty’s being private. It’s funny how Ty - who tackled Kit to the ground - is just quietly existing in the background and letting Livvy have Kit’s attention.

I really am loving Livvy’s energetic character. She’s longing for more, for maturity, and she sees Kit as a way to get that. She’s full of life, and brightness, and she’s easily one of the more social Blackthorns, easily interacting with others, and not afraid to speak her mind.

Livvy and Ty both long for more than what they have, and Kit, who suddenly appeared, is that more. They’re both expressive, but have different personalities, different things they focus on.
