I can't help but think.. maybe this the Eddie version of Bobby getting to pull Athena (and May in Mayday) out of their burning home. The circumstances rhyme, and this time he did it right. That's what he needed to have said to Shannon when she wanted to go take care of her mom. He didn't and she left anyway and she didn't know she could come and it made them broken. I've said it before, but Eddie's not going to find Shannon in anyone he dates, he's going to find her in Chris. And he didn't get his catharsis, his forgiveness from or for her, from the conversation from Kim after all. He's going to get it when he comes through the end of a rough patch in his relationship with Chris and realizes that he built the foundation so strong that they can come back together and it can be okay.

If you've never had a problem with all of that but suddenly now you're clutching your pearls at a flirty sexy comment Tommy made in a conversation about daddy issues that BUCK INITIATED then you are the problem, not Tommy.

It's fine to not like a character for any (or no) reason, but to make out that he's being predatory or creepy or that he clearly doesnt like Buck for simply flirting with the man he likes just makes you look a dick at best and homophobic at worst.

I’m sorry, but if you think Eddie Diaz’s—a single dad, a Catholic, Hispanic war vet from Texas, who has an already complicated relationship with unsupportive parents—coming out story only matters in the context of Buddie, you don’t really care about Eddie.

That story has potential to be incredibly complex and moving on its OWN. And it deserves to be told on its OWN, agnostic of a ship.
