one of the things I appreciate abt hades 2 lore is that it makes it clear that the gods all suck without making them straight-up unrepentant assholes. like, you can see that theyre not good people but you can also see what informs their actions—especially Hera, who's often characterized in many retellings with raging jealousy and little else. she among all the Olympians has to be my favorite bc her dialogue reveals that there's SOOOOO much going on with her beyond her troubled marriage lol

Chronos also intrigues me. Evil grandpa aside, he comes off (at least to me) as a deeply damaged person who didn't have enough introspection to change, and this led him to take everything out on his loved ones. the chain of patricide began with him, after all. I wouldn't be surprised if Supergiant explored this more in the coming update, and rly hope they do

Cloud Strife is truly The Character of all time. He’s a government-trained killing machine. He’s a cross-dressing babygirl. He’s a jaded mercenary who never turns down a job because he likes helping people. He’s an amnesic ecoterrorist who’s killed hundreds of people in order to save the planet from capitalism. He was the only child of a single mom and he’s been miserably in love with the girl next door his whole life. The first time he saw her in a swimsuit he forgot how to talk for ten full seconds. He has the personalities of at least three different people stuffed into his head, and two of them are trying to kill each other (Zack just wants everyone to get along). He’s the result of a mad scientist’s experiment that implanted the cells of a genocidal alien in his body. The son of that genocidal alien is psychosexually obsessed with him. So is the local pimp. His eyes glow because of all the radiation exposure, and half the people he meets are like, “Oof, you’re gonna die young, kid.” He’s a 5’7” short king. He’s a puppet built to bring about the apocalypse. He’s even autistic.

​i haven’t finished all the hades 2 story that’s currently out yet but i’m crying rn at how sun-coded melinoe is. moros just mentioned the prophecy his sisters the fates gave him about being betrothed to someone like the dawn, piercing through the darkness (and because he’s silly he doesn’t think it’s her when to me it feels so obvious) and then i just saw a really beautiful melinoe and icarus art that was captioned "flying too close to the sun again" and it just reminded me. she really is so sun coded. and such her mother’s daughter, child of spring that begins blooming while wreathed in darkness.
