I've been wishing I had something to say to Tumblr for a few weeks but I'm as stuck here as I am on my writing. So, I have a confession to make: I stopped writing after inauguration. I let this administration win. I stopped editing my story I was working on. I stopped making poems and writing little blurbs. I let them take this beautiful thing that brought me joy. They didn't manage to take my morning pages. That was too deeply ingrained. They managed to take its flower, though.

But I didn't let them win forever. Because the thing with bullies - the thing with abusers - is that once you see their behavior in the light of day, you can start to dismantle it a little bit at a time. It took a few weeks, but I have written every day for three days in a row. Today will be my fourth. And I know it will be my fourth because I'll complete it before I drive home today. My hope is that one day soon, whether you all like it or not, you'll have shitty tumblr poetry again.
