Sometimes I think about Zuko being the Firelord and I just giggle like yeah it is an angsty situation, yes it鈥檚 got great fanfic material but guys your just going to give a 17 year old a whole country. Like not even a normal trained from birth Prince you鈥檝e got a guy that was officially the Crown Prince for like 3 years and then he was out at sea causing problems. His special skills include hunting the avatar, B&E, being buddies with mythical beasts, prison breaks and customer service and you gave him the ultimate power to do whatever he wants. Not to mention he鈥檚 got friends who are just as insane and feral and he鈥檚 got all the money. Toph and Sokka are going to talk him into the most insane purchases in seconds. Guys c鈥檓on.

knowing jet has grown up around hostile firebenders his whole life to the point his fighting style reflect his attackers while being a nonbender and hes fighting firebenders with their own style without bending and holding his own with almost ease is fucking insane

isnt it sadly ironic that Jet spent most of his life hating the fire nation and feeling threatened by them but then died to a random brainwashing earthbender inside the supposedly 'safest city in the world'?

ughhh iroh and zuko doing regular degular parent child things kicks rock......... modern au iroh and zuko playing horror games together and iroh is so bad at it and hates horror stuff but zuko laughs the whole time so he perseveres. going to the movies and getting cussed out cus iroh forgot to put his stupid flip phone on silent. going to the fuckinf grocery store and bickering over everything because iroh keeps looking at shit he doesnt need. iroh starts flirting with the cashier so zuko groans loudly and goes to stare at beef jerky while exploding his uncle with his mind. zuko putting irohs gas in his car when its cold or rainy outside and leaning out the window to scream at drivers that honk at them. iroh yelling for zuko everytime theres a spider in the house. them watching jeopardy and arguing the whole time. folding dumplings for dinner that night while watching shitty wuxia dramas or opera plays on tv. iroh misusing emojis on purpose because it gets on zukos nerves. zuko showing iroh something on his phone and sighing deeply when iroh does that parent thing where he takes zukos phone and holds it out at arms length just to see whats on the screen

Personally I think that Azula should have been redeemed simply so that she can become Zuko's horrible little advisor who whispers evil little plans to him so that he can do the exact opposite

Everyone talks about how Appa is apparently obese for a sky bison and Aang is over feeding him. Undeserved in my opinion (hes just big boned obviously)
But nobody talks about how Druk (Zuko's dragon) is a complete fatass compared to other dragons.
For example: These are pics of Roku's Dragon, Fang, and Sozin's Dragon
Do you see how long and noodley they are. They're actual dragons too, not Wyverns like GoT dragons. (Note the 4 legs)
And heres Ran and Shaw:
See, still very noodley. And these are quite old, large dragons.
And this? This is Druk:

And Its not just the angle because even when he is sitting down he's fat

Obviously Druk has lived a life of luxery, he's a pampered little prince

[ALT ID//: Sokka in a Kyoshi Warrior uniform sits at a table next to Zuko in his Blue Spirit outfit, no mask. Sokka鈥檚 makeup is smeared, and Zuko has three lipstick marks on his face.//]

another boiling rock au idea is an au where instead of being banished, ozai sends zuko to the boiling rock after his agni kai and claims the prince died in the night due to an infection. by the time zuko's aware of what's going on around him, he's already confined to a cell at the boiling rock. his father doesn't want him. he's a shame to his nation. he doesn't think he can get any lower.
or: zuko grows up at the boiling rock.
very few people there even know that he's the former crown prince, but what they do see is a thirteen year old kid with half his head swathed in bandages, his hair freshly shorn, who has been thrown into the highest security prison in the fire nation. which is pretty fucked up!! zuko goes from pampered prince fed only propaganda all his life, to being surrounded by war prisoners and other assorted political prisoners- as well as just your run of the mill convicts.
it's an eye-opening experience, to say the least!
(zuko's escape attempts are like, a once every two month occurrence. none of them ever work, but he's gotten father than anyone else ever has. this is because no one else is as insane as the kid who was basically raised for part of his life here.)
years later, when the war is over and iroh is sitting on the fire lord's throne, he begins the long process of freeing the countless prisoners of war that the fire nation has imprisoned- as well as the political prisoners. it's a long process- and he decides to begin with the boiling rock, where he knows the chief of the southern water tribe was sent after the failed invasion.
there's no records of zuko at the boiling rock, of course.
or: iroh finds out that his nephew isn't dead. he's been at the boiling rock this entire time. suddenly the fire nation has an heir apparent.
(zuko returns to the caldera for the first time in years, very much not the same person he was when he left- and is unsure how much he can actually trust his uncle.)

I love when characters are sent away from their home at a young age and they're given false hope that they can return if they meet an impossible goal 馃檹
