A rough plan that I couldn’t put down, so has gone a bit thurther than usual! I got some @castleartsofficial pencils the other day, and I’m waiting on some good paper for coloured pencils to arrive, but I couldn’t wait to play around with them a bit. Looking forward to playing around more and mixing a bit more coloured pencil techniques into my usual panting style. So I’ve made a decision to up my prices for commissions as I love doing what I do, but I can’t justify charging what I charge at the moment due to the fact I don’t even cover my materials most the time let alone my pesky phone bill, I realise I won’t sell as much and may have to get a “real” job, but as a matter of principle when politics is not being supporting of artists and creatives I feel it’s important to sell art at its worth, the other option is I tone down the time I spend on a piece and sacrifice the quality. I recently took on a commission not via my usual lovely followers, but through a different source, I had spent about 14 hours on this piece and charged £60 and was told that they felt they should get more for thier money, I’m still working on this piece to get it up to thier standard. The support I’ve had from my followers has been amazing and I am happy to work out payment plans, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my repeat customers and all thier creatures and look forward to doing more! Hope you guys understand, it’s likely my round pieces with 8” square mounts will stay around the £45 price, these take me around 4-6 hours depending on the level of detail.
