Blog 30

To end my homecoming night off, we went to a party on the fifth floor. I arrived with a plate of brownies, and people could not stop taking them. They were playing beer pong, and I really wanted to play. I got Tommy to be my partner, and we were next in line to start playing. We ended up playing Tommy's roommates, Pham, and Jerry. There was no way I was about to lose to these fools. We only had 2 cups left and they still had 4 so it wasn't looking good for us. then I made one, then they made one. The score was now 3-1 in favor of the other team, we called stoplight, they lined them up, and Tommy took a shot and made it in the middle cup. And then before they even pulled the ball out of the cup I threw my ball into the same one as his, which means all 3 cups were now out of the game and we had won the game. Now we were on the winner's side of the table, and we played some random people from the party, we won the game the exact same way 2 balls in one cup for the last three cups. Then we were tired of playing so we let the next team win and we headed back downstairs and had a dance party because this party was not one where people were dancing.

When we arrived back at Tommy's apartment his roommate was playing some sick beats. So, of course, we had a little shuffling party, see video above. We got the great idea to make partner dance routines, we split into 3 pairs and went to different rooms to create and practice our dances in private. After we had practiced a ton I made a little piece of paper with numbers 1 through 3 on it and we were the second group to go. This was a fun idea because everyone was having so much fun with everyone's performances, there was no competition we were just cheering each other on having a good time.

Eventually the lights stopped working, they were red, which helped create the mood of the dance party, however, when we tried to change the color of the lights to green, they malfunctioned and started strobing a super bright white which was PAINFUL to look at and put an end to our dance party. Some more people out of nowhere showed up to join our dance party, but we were all tired at this point, so they said we were lame, took some shots, and left.

Blog 29

CRAFT MANIA!

All week I have been talking about going to craft mania! Its this event that is put on and you show up and do crafts. Simple. When we showed up I expected there to be atlease 20 people there but there was only one person there. ONE PERSON! but that okay more stuff for us. 

We grabbed a bag of beads and worked for about an hour making these monkey things it was pretty funny! Tommy’s monkey ended up just looking like a person. making these little bead things were actually pretty hard. See the picture above. The girl named Anna came over. AKA the only other person there. She came over and started talking to us. She was pretty nice. It was funny because she seemed a little interested in Tommy she said he had a very nice smile lol I was just liikkeee mmmm Goodluck girl lol!! She is a foreign exchange student from Spain and she is super nice. She even added us on Facebook but honestly, I think she just wanted Tommy’s facebook. 

After finishing, our monkeys or my monkey and Tommy’s person I went grabbed a coloring book from the table. It was this very intricate coloring book. I chose a page with just a line of flowers that would hopefully not take to long to finish coloring. Tommy made his side all shades of green. It was pretty fun. I will definitely be going back to Craft Mania even if there is only one other person who shows up.

Blog 28

It HOMECOMING!!! Tommy and I woke up bright and early and were going to go to the football game! There was a brunch that was going on in our apartment that we were going to go to but apparently all the food was gone 10 minutes after it was put out, so we were unable to get any. We were going to go tailgating but we ran out of time so we did not end up tailgating.

Tommy and I needed to make sure we had out football tickets so we went online and could not find them. My mom said she never purchased them and I never did either so I was confused to see I had a ticket but didn't want to ask any questions. We were still unable to get them to pop up so we decided to go to the ticket office. When we got there There lady printed us off a ticket. We probably looked like noobs walking up to the game with a ticket instead of using our phones. when we got to the games We met up with my friends and stood with them. It was fun. We had a bag FULL of hand warmers. We were set! We ended up sneaking over to sit on the seats We watched the band perform while sitting it was nice!

After watching the band we had had enough of the game, we got a lot of excitement after watching the gophers score two touchdowns. When leaving we stopped by Goldys Lockerroom and tried on a bunch of hats. I don't know why but I enjoyed watching Tommy try on a bunch of different hats.

Blog 27

The homecoming parade was going on today and I could see it going by from my window as I was sitting here doing homework in my bed. I round up Tommy and we head outside to watch the parade. 

Last year I went and didn’t get much candy or any sort of good loot so I wasn’t expecting anything this year. However, when we got there It seemed like they were giving out a lot of candy and shirts and goodies! I think last year I was too deep in the parade and they had already thrown everything out before they got to me. We watched the parade and got candy and had fun watching little kids run around and beg for candy. The kids that were standing next to us were stealing all of our candy and was getting all the special treatment just cuz they are cute and little! They don't even go to the U send them home!!

At one point we saw someone throwing out t-shirts so we would stand in the crowd and then run past the guy after he passed us for another chance to get a shirt. We finally got one but it was a double XL so I gave it to my friend Nigibh. The parade ended with the marching band and I thought it looked like they were having a ton of fun, and I wanted to be in the band playing the symbols or something. The parade was fun

Blog 26

Today There was Party On The Plaza. This was an event the U was hosting for homecoming. Breakdance club was performing for it and I said I would be there to film and support. T-Mae is still a bitch tho I showed up 1 minute late because I went to the wrong door and she freaked out in the chat. SOOOO FREAKIN ANNOYING! But we had fun. None of the students had shown up yet so we were just chillin and I got a bunch of free stuff that nobody had gotten. I got 2 free Insomnia cookies, A nice water bottle, a mug, free brownie mix, and chips. this was all before the event had even started. 

When the event started I got Tommy and his roommates and James and Grant to come to the event. We had a while before UBreak was going to perform so we went to monster I got a FREE nice ass sweater and Then since it was a tshirt swao going on I had brought a UNL shirt and traded it in for a nice Minnesota shirt! Then I went over to try and win free tickets to a concert at Varsity Theatre. I spun and WON! I got tickets to Natasha Bedingfield! I GOT A POCKET, GOT A POCKET FULL OF SUNSHINE, I GOT A LOVE AND I KNOW THAT THEYE’RE ALL MINE OOHHH OOOO WOOOAAHHH!! needless to say, I’m excited! all the roommates got tickets to an 80′s dance party so now we have a ton of those! 

UBreak performed and They did great. Last-minute Leroy showed up and he is soooooo good at breakdancing like ridiculously good! The crowd was going crazy for them and I recorded. It was fun! after the performance Tommy put his name in for a raffle to win a record player and he won!! wooooo we gotta go buy records now! Party on the plaza is a fun PARTY!!

Blog 25

Today I had a meeting in Coffman with Taylor Mae and the other board members of the breakdancing club. She started off the meeting by calling me out for not doing any work, she said how she hasn’t seen me do anything and isn’t sure I want to be a part of breakdancing club. I just king of sat there and took it. First of all, Ubreak had not done anything this year so I was given no instructions on what they wanted me to do for them. I then reminded them that I was working on the t-shirt designs and how why are not telling me what they want it to look like and just saying they don’t like all my designs. And I showed them the poster I had designed for the club. They are soooo annoying!!! But after that, the meeting went okay. 

There was also a Latino student association event going on outside Coffman so I told Tommy to come and get some free food with me. By the time he had shown up the event was coming to an end so we got in the back of the line for food and hoped it wouldn’t run out or be cold. We got 2 tiny tacos that were completely cold and headed into Coffman to eat them. 

Earlier I had seen my friend victor walk into Coffman and head to Goldie’s game room to bowl or something so we went to go see what he was up to. He was playing pool with a group of family members so we talked with him and watched him play pool until we noticed a foosball tournament going on right by the pool tables. One of the people competing in the tournament was a friend I made while on the snowboard club trip last winter. She came over and said Hey! We walked over and asked if we could sign up and they said yes. We talked to everyone and played foosball, and had a good time. I won one game but lost two after that. It was very fun. After a shitty meeting, this definitely made my night 10x better

Blog 24

Today I went to the clinic. Truth be told it hurts when I pee. It has been like this for a week now and I have done nothing about it. I've been spending alot of time googling why do my pee hurt and every time a UTI pops up. I have never had a UTI. I don't really know what it is, so of course, I turn to one of my best friends Emma. She has had many experiences with UTI’s. I mean Many. she thought it was funny that I messaged her about it. But she told all that would happen was I would go in pee in a cup and they would give antibiotics. EZ PZ.

I went to the clinic and waited in line. Tommy drove me and waited with me. when I got to the front I had to do a bunch of paperwork and fill out some things. Then the guy took me to the back gave me a cup and told me specifically how to do it. lol I asked a lot of questions because I didn’t want to mess up. I also didn't really need to pee so the guy went and grabbed me a bottle of water and I chugged it down. I successfully peed in the cup and put it in the box!

I needed to wait for me results so I just kind of chilled in the waiting room until an old man came in and said my name. I love that the people helping me through this are all men. SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE! but he asked me a lot of questions and then pulled out my pee and tested it lol. It turned out I do have a UTI. This sucks! and so now I have to take 5 days worth of antibiotics. Dang

Blog 23

Tommy texted me that he was at some event and they were giving out free t-shirts and pizza in Coffman. Well, I was already in Coffman because I was picking up the free paint that I had won from an Instagram post the bookstore hade made. Anyway, so I was on my way over there to get some loot. When I showed up he and 2 of his roommates were in line and they gave me the rundown. They said it looked like the event was for people who had studied abroad last semester, and I would have to pretend I studied abroad somewhere.

I decided to pick France because my friend was there last semester and I thought I could fake my way through it, just reiterating what he had told me. So we got to the front of the line grabbed a name tag. I wrote my name and where I studied (France) and headed into the event. The event involved talking to a bunch of different people and getting signatures then redeeming 5 signatures for a free t-shirt. Tommy somehow managed to not understand this process and just walked over and grabbed a shirt. 

One of their friends had already been at the event and had gotten all of his signatures, so the genius that I am I took a picture of his paper and we then forged all the signatures. However, we still had to get one signature. We went around looking for the right person to give us signatures, one that wouldn’t ask to many questions and one that we hadn't already forged. Everything was going all right until I got too curious about study abroad and these two ladies asked me what group I studied with and I just froze right up and had noooo idea what to say!!  I had no clue how to respond so I ran away yelling they figured me out they know!!! I eventually told them the truth and they just kind of looked at me funny and gave me some information on studying abroad. I got the shirt, and they said the pizza wasn’t going to be served till the end of the event LAME so we decided to leave. But holy scariest thing EVERRRRR

Blog 22

This is the board I created. I did some work to the words at the top of the board but this is what I turned in for my project.

Lately, I’ve been really into skateboard art. I like to go online and look at different board art that has been done. I think I got into this a few years ago when I actually made my own board art for a class. I used paint markers to create a space-themed board with the astronaut riding the moon. It's pretty cool I'll attach a photo on this blog post. 

Anyway, I took Tommy’s cruiser and was going to give it some new art. I took it home and used a sandpaper machine to scrape off all the art that was currently on there. Then I used a hairdryer to try and melt off the grip tape and slowly pulled it off. There was excess sticky stuff on the board still from the grip tape so I used some type of goo be gone and scrubbed at it pretty hard till all of it was gone. This process took a very long time. Once the board was completely naked I traveled all the way to Nebraska with some friends from home to get these special paint markers. I have had his board for almost a year now and have not gotten anywhere close to finishing it. I do however have an idea of what I want it to artwork to be. It took a while to land on something because Tommy never gave me an idea of what He wanted on his board. 

Usually, during that day I take study breaks and just watch youtube of people doing art or go through Pinterest and look at different skateboard artworks. I always just stare in AWW of then because usually they are all painted and I do not have the patience to paint. Takes way too dang long. It is however very cool to see all the different boards out there!

Blog 21

Snowboarding club is my absolute favorite club on campus! They were having their first party of the year and I was pretty excited to go. I have been going to ski and snowboard club for all of last year and even went on the trip with them all the way to Colorado and had a ton of fun. So we were headed to the party somewhere in Como town

We had packed about 7 people into Tommy’s tiny car. It's a Yaris, it's actually tiny. We arrive and everyone’s stepping out we looked like a clown car 👀. Once there we walk to the back yard and there was a bonfire so it looked pretty fun. Since I’m a member of the club I get free drinks so I went to look for where they might be giving those out, when I found them near the back of the backyard they told me that they had already run out! THEY RAN OUT!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!  I was pretty disappointed to come back to my group empty-handed. 

Also, the bonfire they were having was blowing smoke every direction so no matter where you stood you would get a face full of smoke every once and a while. And to top it all of their speaker was randomly shutting off so the music would stop and that was killing the mood. It seemed like everyone I talked to wasn’t enjoying the party and just complaining about how there were no drinks and the music was shutting off. I thought the party was a total disaster and no one in my group was having fun. They tried to start a dancing crowd but no one joined in so eventually we decided to leave. I hope the next snowboard club party will be better!

Blog 20

Sunday Family Dinner Night

Actually quite different than Saturday Family Dinner Nights. Sundays are With Tommy and his roommates. Nigibh goes all out in these family dinners. We buy the food and ingredients beforehand and then we all help out to make it. 

We show up at about 7 and basically get to work right when you arrive. People are either chopping or washing something or turning on the oven or reading off the ingredients. It's actually just nonsense. youre always getting in someone's way trying to do what you are doing and then it's just really loud so you can't hear anything! its actually soo great! we all work together to make this supper and then when it is complete we all just eat it and talk about how good it is! All 9 of us just stand and crowed around the kitchen island eating for 30 minutes. 

After we are done eating we watch a movie. Its usually a movie that Nigibh thinks is the best at something. We watched Bad Genius, Snatched, and Redline. Bad Genius is this Asain movie that was actually sooo good. Snatched was an old heist movie that I thought was pretty bad but it made Nigibh happy so thats all the mattered. AndSnatched was an Asain animated movie that was also pretty good and the graphics I thought were insane! I'm Always looking forward to Sunday Family Dinner Nights!

Blog 19

Saturday Family Dinner Nights

On Saturday Nights, Two of my really really good friends Michael and James have dinner nights and they always invite me to come over! I always bring Tommy and they also bring their boyfriends. One BIG Happy Family! They always make pasta and bread. They throw in a bunch of random noodles into one bowl its pretty fun! because you never know what type of noodle you might get.

We sit around the table and just talk about random stuff I always sit by James and Tommy. I sit by James because I never see him anymore He is always with Grant or just not around. I have a class with Michael so I see him more. It's just so nice to sit around the table and talk and catch up. I miss these guys so much. I don't have any pictures of our family dinners. I should start taking some that would be something nice to collect for future purposes. 

After Dinner, we usually plan to get together later that night and go out or we stay in and play a game. We have only played two games. The games were Werewolf and Pull Cribbage. They are both really fun! if you havent played Werewolf you need to its a card game and you download an app to play with the narrator. And then you Debate for 2 minutes to try to figure out who the Werewolf is. Pull cribbage is exactly how it sounds. you play Cribbage and then when you lose you gotta take a Pull! haha fun! I love Family Dinner Nights with the Symanskis!

Blog 18

Today we were headed to go swing dancing with my friend Michael and his boyfriend Charlie. We decided we were going while we were over at their place eating homemade pizza. We were planning on going last week but they backed out so we weren’t sure if we were going this week but while at dinner they said they were going. At around 9:00 we got back to my apartment and started getting ready to go swing dancing. We were going to TC Swing which was a swing dance center that is pretty close to the U. We dressed up a little bit, I wore These new shorts I got and A nice black shirt and Tommy wore khakis and a button-up shirt. He is so cute oh my gosh ❤️. 

Before we went we had to drop off Tommy’s roommate at a concert. He had used my Facebook account to buy the tickets because he didn’t want people to know his name (lol Weirdo) in the Facebook chat because he thought his name was too unique and people could find him online too easily if they knew his name. We then googled my name and found me instantly so it turns out my name is pretty unique also. HA HA. 

Anyway, we got to the swing dance place and started dancing. I was trying to show tommy how to dance and he wasn’t doing what I was saying so I jokingly told him I wasn’t going to dance with him and he thought I was serious so got upset with me. Eventually, Michael and Charlie showed up and got me and tommy back in the dancing mood. A nice guy showed us a bunch of moves and we were having a great time. He showed us a move where the lead makes the follow do a backflip and we decided it was a good idea for me to try to flip Tommy. We got set up in the position counted down from three and went for it. Tommy only made it half way around before he got stuck on my shoulder and fell straight on his head. He was okay so we kept dancing. We danced until 12:45 and then decided to go home and go to sleep. Tommy was okay 👌🏻

Blog 17

This blog is about how my friends and I have acquired many hula hoops this month. This all started when one of my friends became obsessed with buying a hula hoop. He was looking everywhere and couldn’t find them, we even all drove together to Target, Walmart, and Michales looking for them and no luck.

So eventually we found some online and confirmed with a target that they were in the store so we headed over there to buy them. We found them right away and then proceeded to buy a bunch of groceries. We got food for the week and cleaning supplies and the whole time the hula hoops were under my friend's arm as he shopped. It came time to checkout and we all rang up our stuff separately at the self-checkouts and headed back to our car to go home. When we got to our car my friend realized he had forgotten to scan the hula hoops and had just walked out of the store without paying for them. He said he had already made it this far SOoo why go back now. This was hula hoop 1 and 2

Hula hoop 3 came later. We went to cookout one weekend and they had free food and games it was fun. There were also hula hoop competitions. you see where this is going? I was late to the first one but Tommy was in it and I had faith he could win! it was him and this girl and they had to jump. Tommy stuck the landing and THE CROUD WENT WILLLDDDD!!!! or at least I did! It was pretty exciting. There was a second hula hoop competition and I won that one of course. I win every hula hoop contests I’m in. but as we were leaving I picked up the hula hoop and just left. don't tell anyone of my illegal happenings. haha. Now I only wonder when and how we will acquire our next hula hoop

BLOG 16

For this blog, I am going to talk about this ongoing project that Tommy, Nigibh, a few other people and I have been working on this month. Nigibh likes to make these EDM like songs on his computer and fo a while I have been trying to get him to take a snippet of me signing to put it in one of his songs. After much convincing, he finally went and got his mic to record me! WOO success!!

I was laying on the couch holding the microphone listening to the beat Nigibh had made. I had no idea what to sing. He said it's easy to make lyrics! you just sign about butts hahaha! I was like whaaattt no!!!! I am not going to sing about butts!!! so then he took the mic and started singing, “I LIKE BIG BUTTS” so I was like uh fine and I sang about big butts. It's pretty funny!

Now we are in the process of adding a rap into it. Tommy will be the one rapping. Tommy and I have spent many hours just talking through possible lyrics. Also when people come over we put the song on and just talk about it because it's sooo funny to hear people's reactions and then we try to get them to say a verse or make a little hype in the background. We are trying to get as many people involved as possible!

Blog 15

This blog starts at 1:30 am on a Saturday night. Tommy and I were relaxing in his apartment getting ready to go to bed when his roommate named Victor came back from wherever he had been that night. He sat around with us for about 10 minutes and then I mentioned that I had wanted to go to the bar tonight but didn’t get around to it. Then for the next 5 minutes, Victor was trying to convince me to come out to the bar saying that I wasn’t any fun and that I was lame for not going with him. Eventually, I agreed and Tommy, Victor, and I and our friend B-Shaw were off to the bar at 1:45. 

We get there and as we are walking in there is a group of people walking out telling us not to go in because it's dead 💀. We tell them that they should stay because we were showing up and bringing the party with us. They left anyway. We walked in and there was a DJ playing some coool dance-pop mixes. But this dance floor was completely empty the entire bar was completely empty except for the staff who were all putting up bar stools and washing counters or mopping. We ordered 4 long island ice teas and find out that they are closing in 15 minutes. So we head out to the dance floor and all dance while we drink our long islands. 15 minutes later and the bar is closed and we are chugging to finish our drinks. We head outside and find out all the bars in the area all close at 2:00. 

Now we didn’t have anywhere to go so we started walking toward campus, following b-shaw who said he was bringing us somewhere. We ended up at the mall at Northrop just messing around on lime scooters. There had been an event earlier in the day so there was a box full of costumes and stuff we put then on and took some pictures. It was really fun and we were just being goofy! What a great night

Blog 14

Let me tell you about my Kpop experience. I went to an activity fair and MKDC had a booth saying they had auditions coming up. I have been following this group for a little bit and this team is really good. Their girl's team is traveling to Korea and performing, so of course, I want to try out. I was on the Kpop team at my old school. Their try-outs were from 10-1. I thought I could show up at whatever time to perform my dance. 

I showed up at 11:30 and apparently I was late I had to be there the whole time. This group just makes me more and more angry the more I talk about it. They taught 2 dances. The first one was a guys dance and learned it and danced it and then I still need to perform my individual dance so I did that. I had stayed up pretty late the night before just trying to refresh my memory on that dance. After I performed that They said, “Thank you, everyone, for coming you guys can either leave or stay for the girl's tryout dance”. I stayed and learned the girls dance We went through it only like 4 times and then they wanted us to perform it. I was freaking out because I didn't know the dance that well. By the time it was my turn I had pulled it together enough to know what I was doing. Once all that was done they said they were going to email us our results by the weekend. whether we made it or not they were going to email us.

They are so confusing! I thought I killed and to be honest, I was a better dancer than more than half the people there. I also have already been apart of a kpop team so I have more experience then probably most of the people there. I just think this is so dumb and I almost regret trying out for the team. MKDC needs a better way of communicating and then I would be happy. This whole thing just makes me angry tho.
