How I think AI "art" happened; a theory, and a very clumsy metaphor.

You know that feeling when you have an image in your head, and you know with 100% certainty that you can never ever create what you see in a way that will satisfy you?

For artists, that is the fuel in our engine, the reason we draw hands for 6 weeks straight to get the fingers to look the way we want. The reason we Keep Drawing even when we hate our work.

I think AI "art" was initially born from this same, very human drive. Except it was in the hands of talented coders, people who can make machines dance to their tune, who know how to create magic in lines of numbers and symbols so intricate it would make an alchemist weep.

I doubt it ever occured to them, that their crafted, innovative spells needed material components only available by harming others. They never saw the people who were cut for their sacrificial blood.
