“I don’t blame you. You were tiny the last time I saw you. I’m Alex…Merlyn.”

Felicity sized up the woman in front of her, trying to judge if she meant anything she was saying right now or if she took after her supposed brother and was just as dangerous with her words as he was. She didn’t get any bad feeling from this woman though, so she stayed relaxed. “Eh, I only shoot if you give me a reason too” she shrugged. “So friends of yours? What? Making sure they survived everything that’s been going on?” She asked.

“Not just friends, but yes. Hearing the news coming out of this place...it’s enough to get anybody worried, don’t you think? You don’t...do you know Thea Queen? I just...I wanted to make sure she was okay with...everything.”

“I’d completely understand if you never wanted to come to the city after the Undertaking. The Glades are even less safe than they were before and that’s saying something. I still remember a time when my dad wasn’t all bad. But when it comes to having someone to talk to, I more than appreciate it.”

“Well that’s what I mean. The thing about being related to your father...is that even after it seems all his humanity has left him, you still remember the part of him that loved you. You can get angry, hate him even, but that...that part never quite goes away. Other  people understand the hating him. It’s the loving him that confuses them.”

Hugging Alex back, with a light giggle, Hannah held her tightly as she took in being able to hold her again. “It’s great to see you too. I heard you get back so I had to come over and see you. How are you doing?”

“I’m good! Glad to be home…really glad to see you. Seeing him…when we’re apart I always forget why we got divorced, but seeing him again makes me remember.”

Covering her lover's eyes, she whispered, "guess who?"

“Hannah!” She turned and instantly threw her arms around her, hugging her close. “God it’s so nice to see you.”

Pressing her face into Alex’s arm, Hannah knew that it might do her some good if she did try to draw something but she wasn’t ready to be that emotionally vulnerable with anyone just yet. To let anyone see her draw or paint was like letting them into her soul. She wasn’t quite there yet, that day. “Soon. I’ll try soon. I don’t know what to draw. I need to think of something.”

“Okay.” Alex pressed a kiss to the top of Hannah’s head and began a sketch of her own. In this case, it happened to be a beautiful portrait of the woman laying next to her.

Hannah has walked straight into Alex's house and is gonna curl up next to her on the couch but not say anything.

Alex looks down with concern at the older woman and instantly starts running her fingers through her hair. “Hey babes. Everything okay?”

Covering her lover's eyes, she whispered, "guess who?"

“Hannah!” She turned and instantly threw her arms around her, hugging her close. “God it’s so nice to see you.”

Watching Alex’s movements, Hannah kept snuggled into her side as she thought. “You draw, please. Watching you draw will be relaxing and I’m not sure you want to see anything I might produce ad the moment.” She settled her head on Alex’s shoulder and waited for her to start drawing.

“You know, one of my teachers once told me that we shouldn’t shy away from our ugly pieces, because oftentimes the things we create when we feel the most ugly? They’re the most beautiful.”

Felicity had lowered the gun slowly, but when she said who she was related too her eyes went wide. “Oh that last name might change my mind on that-” She said quickly, tensing. “I unfortunately know that name better than I wish too and if someone is holding a gun you might not want to tell them you are related to him.” She pointed out, speaking in her usual rambling tones. She didn’t raise the gun again though, lowering it completely to her side.

Alex sighed. “Yeah I’ve...been hearing that for awhile now. Believe me, I know Malcolm’s not exactly this city’s favorite person. He’s not mine either. I just...wanted to check in on some people. Things have been crazy here lately, and even though I might have left...I still have people I care about here. Making sure they’re okay? That’s worth potentially getting shot.”

“The whole situation was complicated. I wouldn’t have done more harm than good, believe me it wouldn’t but the past is the past. What made you decide now was a good time to come see me?”

“To be honest Tommy, I...since I found out what happened I’ve...been afraid to come back to this city, but then I thought about you, and I know how people here react to things like this. I guess...I thought maybe you might need someone to talk to, someone who knows what it’s like to be his family.”

“It’s been … complicated,” he murmurs, indulging in her attention for a moment before drawing back a little and kissing her forehead affectionately. “How have you been?”

“Oh you know, same old same old, running around after the kid and all that. Speaking of...how are Oliver and Thea? I can’t...with everything they’ve been through lately it can’t have been easy.”

He's not actually going to say anything, he's just going to stride up to his best friend and pull her into a hug.

Alex just beams and hugs him back. “Hey you! Long time no see!”

Settling easily on Alex’s lap, Hannah tilted her head to the side and sighed at the attention she was being afforded. Running her fingers over the other woman’s scalp, she let her continue working her neck for a few moments. Pulling back, she smiled at her before kissing her hungrily once more. “Anything? That’s some promise. Only if you’re sure.”

Placing her hands on Alex’s shoulders, Hannah gave her a gentle push to guide her to lie down. Leaning over her, she kissed Alex’s lips again before kissing her jaw and neck. “Was there anything you wanted me to do to you? Any yearnings or strong urges you wanted me to take care of?”

Alex continued to follow Hannah’s lead, laying down and humming contentedly at Hannah’s attentions. “I...I don’t know, but I’m sure. Anything, really. I just...I just want you. Is that okay?”

Sat on the couch, the dishes in the dishwasher, Hannah leant back - her shoulder almost touching Alex's - as she took a sip of her wine. Staring into the fire, she smiled and felt her remaining nerves leave her through the comfortable silence. Slowly she moved her hand so that her little finger was grazing the skin of Alex's little finger and she grinned before giggling at how much like a teenager she felt in that moment.

This was nice, Alex mused, getting to feel this close to someone again. She took a sip of her wine before turning her head when she heard Hannah laugh. She had a beautiful laugh. “Hey giggles McPhee,” she laughed, poking Hannah’s side teasingly and grabbing her hand, almost without thinking about it, “what’s so funny?”

Felicity studied the stranger in front of her, she looked familiar but at the moment and in the current circumstances Felicity could not recognize her, “Who…who is your family?” She asked, “I’m not going to assassinate regardless- I don’t even know how to use this thing - I mean I probably shouldn’t have said that, but yeah…” she rambled nervously.

Alex laughed. “You know, if there had been more people like you in Starling when I was growing up, I might not have left. As for my family...well now that you’re not going to shoot me I guess it’s safe to say...Malcolm Merlyn, you k now the guy that tried to blow up The Glades? Yeah, I have the privilege of being his sister.”

“I uh-” Felicity fumbled with her words as she stood awkwardly with the gun in her hand, she never liked the things in the first place and here she was startled that she had even grabbed it, “I was startled!” She said quickly, lowering the gun so it wasn’t pointed at the woman anymore, but still holding it.

“You realize that just because I’m ignoring mother’s calls does not mean you have to  come down and check on me for her. I’m  very much alive, I’ve just been working late the last month – so when she calls I’m usually asleep.”

“And you realize that when you ignore mother’s calls, she bugs me until she hears from you. I didn’t want to become your babysitter, Mal, I just can’t take her moaning anymore. Just put me out of my misery and call her, please.”

“From what I know, only a few people knew what he was planning. So, why is it that we never met until now? Why didn’t you at least drop by when you realized my dad left? My mom was dead and he was gone for two years, seeing some family would have been nice.”

“I’m guessing you won’t exactly buy it if I just say it’s complicated? I honestly didn’t find out he’d left until way later, and by then I thought...well I thought it would do more harm than good.”

Hannah giggled as she took Alex towards the woman’s bedroom. She told herself that her blush was due to the wine and not the compliment that Alex was paying her. Pressing her body up against Alex, Hannah hummed happily into the kiss before reaching up to cup Alex’s face. 

“Well, it’s a shame that it’s been a long time because you are stunning.” She kissed her again. “Let me show you how beautiful you are. Okay?”

With that, she pulled Alex into the room - closing the door behind them - and leading her to sit on the bed.

Alex followed Hannah’s lead, sitting down on the bed before pulling the other woman into her lap. “I’d really like that,” she murmured before kissing Hannah again. When she broke away, she began trailing her lips down Hannah’s neck, sucking gently on the skin above her pulse point.

“God you taste amazing...I’ll do anything you want just...teach me.”
