Cabo San Lucas
As if to exemplify its dual nature, Los Cabos is divided into two major towns: Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Cabo San Lucas crackles with energy, and attracts a crowd ready for excitement and adventure during the day and dancing the night away when the sun goes down.
Spend your morning living the good life at The Marina, one of the world's premier luxury yachting marinas. If shopping is more your thing, visit the adjacent Puerto Paraiso Mall, which boasts over 200 stores, plenty of activities for kids, a movie theater and even a bowling alley.
Of course, there's no place like Mexico for water fans, and scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing are right there for you to dive into. Once the stars come out, there's no nightlife like Seattle Luxury Luxury Yacht Rentals the one in Cabo San Lucas, and this Mexico vacation spot offers lively nightclubs, bars and discos.
San Jose del Cabo
San Jose del Cabo offers a more relaxed pace, but it's no less of an attractive vacation destination than its flashier neighbor. Explore The Old Jesuit Mission, also known as Parroquia San José, or visit The Estero, an estuary featuring a plethora of native birdlife and animal life, along with local shops and eateries.
Golfers will love Club Campestre, featuring an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course that's sure to test your skills and become a vacation highlight.
Take it fast or take it slow

After your short flight which ends at the Los Cabos International Airport, you are 30 to 40 minutes away from Cabo San Lucas.
Cabo San Lucas was just a quiet Mexican town in the late 1940's after WWII and wealthy Americans began to fly in and sail their yachts to Cabo for vacations and deep sea sports fishing. Some of these wealthy Americans pooled their resources and built the first hotel in this resort. Shortly there after the airport was upgraded and a road was completed from the airport to Cabo. Other hotel projects followed and today you have world class accommodations and Cabo San Lucas has become an important tourist attraction for the Mexican economy.
The Mexican government Seattle Luxury Luxury Yacht Rentals has spent millions of dollars on developing the infrastructure in and around Cabo San Lucas to support the rapid growth of the town and the tourism in the area.
Cabo San Lucas offers a refuge from the daily hustle and bustle of every day life. It is affordable and can be enjoyed on a budget. Seattle Boat Rentals
There are luxury condos on Medano beach located on Cabo's bay, up on the hillsides in the luxurious Pedregal housing development and over on the Pacific side of the Land's End mountains. They're all beautiful, affordable (compared to California beach communities) and many come with fantastic views of the Pacific, or Cabo downtown, its bay and the Sea of Cortez.
The greatest percentage of luxury homes and condos in Cabo are used as vacation rentals, investments and tax write-offs. So many, in fact, that the local hotel association has taken umbrage and declared war on the owners who are using their homes as short-term villa rentals and competing with their hotel room rentals, time-share sales, fractional ownerships and resort condo sales. These owners receive $300 to $3,000 USD per night for their rentals - the same as the hotels charge. Given a choice, would you rather rent a luxury ocean or Cabo bay view home that sleeps eight for $400 a night or a hotel room that sleeps two for the same money? Touche'!
If you want to own a five thousand square foot villa overlooking the crashing Pacific and be able to rent it out for $3,000 per night to wedding parties, etc. - then be sure to pay your fair Seattle Yacht Charters share of the local hotel tax. That's basically what the hotels are howling about. If you want neighbors, a sense of community, if you want to avoid traveling through downtown congestion - then better head out of Dodge (Cabo) to find your nirvana.
In Cabo San Lucas, one can party nearly twenty-four hours a day at the clubs, on the beaches, around the pools and on the yachts. Buying a place in Cabo is for the truly young at heart, or those who have business interests there.
Cabo San Lucas Versus San Jose del Cabo
Cabo San Lucas is actually a part of the municipality of Los Cabos which includes San Jose del Cabo, located eighteen miles to the east, and in some ways, a hundred years in the past.
For all the millions of dollars in tourist hotel development in Cabo San Lucas and the Tourist Corridor in between the two towns, San Jose del Cabo still evokes the roots and spirit of Mexico as opposed to Cabo San Lucas, with its faster paced, more commercial and touristy atmosphere.
Those wanting to really LIVE in Mexico, i.e., avoid the Cabo tourist crowds, etc., may want to consider buying in San Jose del Cabo eighteen miles to the East and eighteen miles closer to the airport. Or, as I'll discuss below, in the 18 mile corridor between the two towns.
Some view Cabo as more like Vegas and San Jose more like Santa Barbara California but with warmer waters, colder margaritas and fewer tourists. It has soul. It was a colonial town over two hundred years old when Cabo was just a few ranch houses, a dirt airstrip and a tuna packing plant a few decades ago.

Cabo San Lucas is a small town on the tip of the Baja Peninsula in the State of Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is approximately 1,000 miles south of San Diego, California, approximately 22 miles southwest of the Los Cabos International Airport and 18 miles west of San Jose del Cabo.
Las Cabos is located on the southerly tip of Baja California Sur. The active, more rowdy resort community of Cabo San Lucas is located on the west tip of the peninsula and the more sedate, more typically Mexican town of Cabo San Jose is located approximately 18 miles to the east of Cabo San Lucas.
Between the two towns is 18 miles of resort communities located on the ocean edge. Whenever I go to Cabo San Lucas there are more resorts. It is an active thriving area.
For those who are interested in golfing, miles of golf celebrity designed golf courses are found. Yacht Rental Seattle As well as the many waterfront hotels and resorts, there are luxury home developments.
A Brief History.
Herman Cortez set sail to the reported island which was full of gold and pearls and inhabited by Amazons in 1535 with three galleons and over 600 men and women. He soon discovered there was no gold and pearls nor were there Amazons. In disappointment he left and sailed south after naming the area Santa Cruz.
After many years of pirates, Englishman, Dutch, Spanish, Texans, and missionary attempts, the desert landscape and the unwelcoming indians defeated all. It was not until after World War II that a group of Southern Californians found that they could fly to La Paz and then travel by rutty roads to the shores of Mar de Cortes. It was a well-kept secret that gradually leaked out that the Sea of Cortes was teeming with fish and was well-protected. The weather was almost perfect. Since there were no roads, long yachts and private airplanes kept the beautiful ocean vistas exclusive. It was said to be the favorite of such well-known names as Bing Crosby, Phil Harris, Desi Arnaz and The Duke. In 1948 they built the hotel Las Cruces on the East Cape.
The beautiful weather and warm waters produced and to this day produces great fishing. In addition the ladies and non-fisherman were discovering the sun, fine sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets.
Cabo San Lucas Today
Cabo San Lucas of today has stolen the resort scene in Mexico. It is located on the same latitude as Hawaii. It was become the destination of many world travelers. A popular port-of-call, Cabo San Lucas hosts 400 cruise ships a year and receives over 1 million annual visitors. Where first class, five star resorts abound, Cabo San Lucas offers family activities and first class amenities. Cabo, as we affectionately call it, has world class golfing, upscale shopping, moderate temperatures nine months of the year and is known as the marlin capital of the world. In addition to the resorts, for the traveler who prefers to rent vacation villas or stay at bed and breakfasts or boutique hotels which rent for the week or month. there are many to choose from.
The active nightlife includes the Cabo Wabo, a must see, El Squid Roe and the newest Zoo Bar and Dance. In addition you will find the Puerto Paraiso Mall with escalators and elevators. Many restaurants surround the Mall with specialties from many nations. The main city is built in a horseshoe arrangement around the harbor for the numerous fishing and sightseeing boats that offer fishing, pirate ship, whale watching, sunset watching, scuba diving, trips to the Lover's Beach where you can spend an afternoon. There is parasailing, sailboating. In addition to the water pleasures, you can go four wheeling into the desert along the ocean where there are no houses and no hotels.
My Personal Experiences
I have visited Cabo San Lucas many times. I went marlin fishing with my daughter. She caught a great big marlin and I caught a smaller one. It was a smaller boat which the Captain, his assistant, my daughter and myself had to ourselves. When I left shore, they told me that the captain I was with would definitely find the marlin. We were back in the harbor by 9 a.m. The last time I went I watched as the boats went by coming back from fishing. They had flags showing how many fish they had caught that day. There were many flags that day.
One year my sister went with me and my daughter. We went four wheeling. I had never been on one before. We had a group of about 10 four wheelers. We managed to keep up and it was fun. We were out in the middle of nowhere without a house, resort or golf course in sight. Nothing but the ocean on one side and the sage brush covered desert on the other. A wonderful memory.
I have taken the pirate boat tour which was fun. There were entertainment all of the time. I went whale watching and we did see whales. I am from Alaska and they tell me they are the Alaska whales that are about to have their babies and then they will head back to Alaska. We went to watch the sun set over the ocean. I had no idea it would be so wonderful. One moment the big orange sun was there and the next minute it was gone.

A few fisherman prefer this approach because some of the Los Cabos fishing companies have more productive fishing trips if they know where to fish at that particular time.
If you're looking around the Marina though you probably will get approached by people claiming to know the waters. And they will try and convince you that they will give you a good day's fishing. Avoid these people as many fisherman on vacation have either not gone on any Cabo fishing trip after handing over their money, or it wasn't the fishing trip that was prearranged.
The nutrient rich waters around Los Cabos offer you a variety of marine life you can catch. The Sea Of Cortez is the planet's youngest sea which was created when the East Pacific Rise split the Baja Peninsula away from Mexico.
