I hate how south everything goes by the end of volume 16 😢 Serge and Gilbert are just so young and needed more time to work together and figure out their differences 😭😭

If I get a chance one day, I really want to make some kind of long form analysis on Kaze to Ki no Uta, mainly about Gilbert learning about his sense of self and bodily autonomy, along with learning to reject Auguste's abuse. Auguste almost was treating Gil like some sort of twisted art project, and was refusing to let Gil form his individuality. It probs stems from Auguste's desire to control, which is something that he didn't have as a kid.

Auguste probably didn't expect the impact Serge would have on Gilbert - it seems to me that Serge was allowed to room with Gil in the first place so they could form some kind of attachment, only for them to be separated. Maybe another one of Auguste's plans to emotionally traumatise Gilbert yet again. But he probs didn't expect Serge to be such a noble soul and have a somewhat stubborn personality, and for them to become as inseparable as they became.

Idk I'd love to explore this topic! This story is so intriguing to me, and i wish more people would talk about it!

Gonna be so real here, I struggle to understand Jules as a character. I understand that he has a weird relationship with Rosemarine - some kind of desire to get back at him, yet pretending to be his friend on the outside. But he was just so quick to help Auguste even after everything he saw Gilbert and Serge go through? Like bro....

At least Rosemarine came around in the end! He definitely overlooked a lot of the shit going on for most of the story but to some extent I understand that he was scared to defy Auguste, plus he was a victim as well. And he is an ambitious person who'd do things for his own gain, but he grew enough through the story to help Gilbert and Serge escape.

So yeah, just some thoughts!

Honestly, what I really wanna get out of reading Gil's backstory is truly understanding what is going on in his mind. I think maybe at first all he wanted was to be held by his mama, and then it's kinda warped into a dependency on intimacy with others? Like when Serge asked him if he actually enjoys being intimate with the upperclassmen, there's this one panel in the bottom left where Gilbert's face looks absolutely horrified, but then quickly turns it into a laugh. I think he just has so many walls up to hide that his true desire is to be loved unconditionally. Really, he's just an extremely emotionally neglected child who is trying to find comfort 😢 i don't think he does actually enjoy sleeping around with the older classmates but it's all he knows
