I think the thing that I've taken away from this panel is that it's okay if you don't like your work because there are people who will love it.
And I didn't take that away because there was any implication that Hugh or Mads disliked the work they did on Hannibal but because they so obviously loved it but even they couldn't remember all the details of the things they loved. Hugh wouldn't stop talking about S1EP2 Amuse-Bouche but he could not for the life of him remember Eldon Stammets' name, and Mads and Hugh had to be reminded of Donald Sutcliffe's name.
And those details of the panel stood out to me because it's like wow I may forget about something I've written or recorded or drawn, but someone somewhere out there, even if it's just one person, probably loved what I made even more than I did and they might've committed parts of my work to memory that I've completely forgotten about or thought were insignificant.
I guess the panel just reminded me how thankful I am for fandom spaces and the fannibal community and just generally people who are kind and uplifting and share what they love with each other.

i love dungeon meshi and the way it views people in a way i grew to think no one else ever would. the way it frames bodies and nudity without it needing to be inherently sexual, and any fanservice or sexualization there is only feels very honest rather than perverse. the neutral way things like the harpies or humanoid monsters have exposed boobs and nipples. or the farcille bath scene being fanservice in a way but feeling intimate in an entirely different way than that to me. it feels so removed from the weight of the way others view people with beauty standards and other imposed characteristics—yet it paints people as beautiful around its own definition based on the way people actually are. the way it frames human beings as a whole, as living like any animal does with universal and inescapable needs. no matter how we see ourselves we still get hungry, we still get hurt, we still get sleepy, we still get thirsty. the characters have magic and anime fighting strength but remain as fragile as any living thing, being able to be killed in one shot. and every shape the different characters take with their diverse bodies is drawn with equal appreciation for their form. there are many things dungeon meshi feels passionate about, such as how clearly invested ryoko kui had to be in zoology and stuff for a lot of worldbuilding, but that wouldnt be complete without this touch too. i just love how much this series was clearly created by someone deeply in love with and invested in human beings.

the statement "being ace and or aro is a complex spectrum, and putting fictional aro/acespec people in ships isnt inherently bad because plenty of ppl on the spectrum still have relationships and experience certain forms of attraction" can exist alongside "aros and aces are allowed to be upset when allos ship canonically aro/ace characters in a way that clearly doesnt take their identity into consideration"
both r true

Which wolf clipart?
this fucker:
Tumblr media
I call it Lumpy Kiba and I’ve seen it used for car decals, stickers, clipart, traced with varying degrees of obviousness by artists of all skill/experience levels, I’m pretty sure I saw it in some small local company’s logo once.
here’s the original still from Wolf’s Rain (which is not a lot less weird-looking, but it looks fine in a stylized anime where it’s supposed to be), which I saw early in high school and ever since have had to live with apparently being the only one who knows that all these people just fucking traced an anime wolf.
Tumblr media
it’s like the goddamn wilhelm scream of lazy art, once you see it you will never unsee it again, and it’s everywhere. and you can always tell because it’s frankly a pretty mediocre trace of an already wonky-looking wolf, so like. you can tell.
here it is on two different bumper stickers (two of MANY, just google ‘howling wolf bumper sticker’ and at least 70% of the fullbody ones will be Lumpy Kiba):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jewelry:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
clipart collections that REALLY show off the Lumpiness compared to silhouettes referenced from actual wolf photos:
Tumblr media
random art, including my personal favorite, a watercolor where the artist could just as easily have looked up an actual photo of a wolf but chose Lumpy Kiba instead:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a tattoo:
Tumblr media
and THIS mcfuckery where he went through the whole process of sketching and refining to make it look like he was drawing a wolf from scratch (the gods know what you’ve done, jon harris):
Tumblr media
anyway Lumpy Kiba is the bane of my existence but if I point it out I sound insane so I’m glad I had this opportunity to curse you all with the burden of this knowledge.

That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.

being a fan of a friend's ocs is actually so humiliating....... like yes my favourite character rn is tragically doomed and a pillar of humanity who i think is relevant to the current world. you can find information about them on discord dot com and sometimes in late-night conversations with this guy i know. what the fuck
