really excited about us going to Costco this weekend and I'm going to get a pack of ground pork and make so many sausage patties to freeze

think we're just going to get a single burner portable induction cooktop to tide us over until our replacement stove is shipped

since the earliest date we have so far is it arriving october 1st, with the knowledge it can be delayed even more than that

it almost makes me wish that we had allowed his mom to leave the one she brought with her at our apartment

(which, apparently, she bought for us and then tried to pass it off as her just having an extra one that she wanted to leave with us for when she visited. and it's like, please just be normal and ask us if we could use it before buying rather than this weird manipulation to try and trick us into using it. i would have been way more polite when refusing it if i had known she'd gotten it for us)

the amount of women who will go "teehee, my husband can't remember how to do laundry or put sheets on the bed or boil water because he's just a guy" is astounding

like, if he can hold down a job that requires any brainpower at all, he can figure this shit out. he just doesn't want to because he's a lazy asshole and if he makes it hard enough for you, you'll just do it for him

(seriously read someone saying "how is he supposed to know how much 4 to 6 quarts is to boil water?" ????? idk, he can use the computer in his pocket to figure it out???? I also don't know how much 4 to 6 quarts is off the top of my head so I'm constantly googling "how many cups are in a quart" and then doing some simple multiplication in my head. amazing how that works)

also, if I see one more person saying "his mother didn't teach him." no, his PARENTS didn't teach him. and if his dad was the same, then he was a shit father and a shit husband and should be held accountable.

apparently the stove we ordered is hung up in shipping somewhere due to this tariffs bullshit

at this rate, we might not be able to have a new stove by the time we're ready to sell next year

and in the meantime, it's getting harder for me to cook because being limited in this way is just depressing as fuck

idk when or why this started with some new releases, but I got a little pin yesterday when I got my copy of Katabasis

and I was going to just toss it when I remembered I have a little book annotating bag with pens and highlighters and washi tape and that it could look very cute with some book-ish pins in it

and now I'm upset that i got rid of the pin I got when I bought my copy of A Day of Fallen Night. could have had a dragon pin in my little bag, which would have been the best pin

I made sweet potato brownies yesterday and they're actually pretty good. Especially after sitting in the fridge overnight.

I do recommend adding some extra cocoa powder to boost the chocolate flavor. And maybe have some extra sweet potato puree on hand to offset the added dry ingredient.

we're starting to think that my mother-in-law gave us covid when we came home from the hospital with baby boy

because three months after that, I started having issues with cooking onions smelling awful. and now cucumbers smell weird, coffee beans smell bad, Coke and Coke Zero taste awful, cheese tastes too sour, and we discovered last night that coriander now tastes rancid to me (I've always been a bit sensitive to that and too much tasted like soap but this was a whole new level)

I also had to change the shaving gel I use, which is really inconvenient because men's shaving gel is cheaper and easier to find here, and my husband's shampoo now smells bad to me as well

it's not that bad right now because food still tastes fine when it's all together, but my concern is that it seems to be getting worse. and now I'm starting to get a bit anxious about anything I eat because I don't know if I'll have developed further taste issues unexpectedly

anyway, I'm back to being really mad at her for exposing us to her germs when we had a new baby

it's really unfair that even though I was really tired yesterday afternoon, I was good and didn't nap and didn't compensate with caffeine and when I went to bed, my body decided "you know what we need? surges of adrenaline and some racing thoughts"

and I'm already flirting with a cold so I actually really need the sleep to keep from getting full-blown sick
