Wait
Does Lancelot exist in the Dragon Age Universe? Because if not, Ser Pounce-A-Lot isn’t a pun name to Anders.
He just looked at that cat and thought
“Man he sure do pounce a lot”
And decided not only was that a sensible cat name, but that cat is clearly a Sir.

HAWKE, NO
For some reason I got Dragon Age 2 brainrot. I don't know why, I haven't thought about this game in years. But if I have to suffer, so do you. Tumblr rules, sorry folks! Same Hawke as here. Hence why Bethany is just done.

the dragon age is called "dragon age" bc the dragons returned after being presumed extinct due to hunting.
and then the inquisitor is like. hm what if they were extinct again

A toxic trait of mine is that sometimes when dragon age is going on about how many people died in the Chantry explosion my first thought is "it was just Hightown"

caught myself thinking about what gaspard and vivienne think about each other and how they'd interact during WEWH and ough. drama. gaspard playing into their shared concern/connection to bastien to try and get vivienne swayed to his side so she can sway the inquisitor, but even besides this there is a genuine level of respect he has for her just by virtue of the fact that she plays the game very well and they have known each other for so long. he was married to bastien's daughter, after all. and it feels significant that he never remarried. gaspard leans on vivienne's assumption that celene has already cast her aside; bastien will die soon, they both know it, but gaspard could protect her when he does– if she supports him here. vivienne needs to hit this man with a comically large hammer and cartoon splat him

I still can't believe that bioware has morrigan tell you a whole story about how as a kid she came upon a girl she thought was so beautiful that it rocked her entire world and awakened new and bewildering longings in her (longings which by their very existence angered and perturbed her mother)... and then they have the temerity to ask me to believe she's straight

when i talk about city elves not practicing andrastianism the same way as those outside their alienages, i'm not just throwing that out there based on vibes btw.
here are some excepts from the The Rise and Fall of the Dales, as told by sarethia, hahren of the highever alienage (this is the version of the city elves codex you see if you're playing as tabris!)
The humans tell tales of Andraste, and to them, she was a prophet. To our people, however, she was an inspiration.
We were allowed to live among the humans only as second-class citizens who worshipped their Maker, forgetting once more the scraps of lore we had maintained through the centuries.
another bit of lore from the alienage culture codex, also told by hahren sarethia:
Here, we're among family. We look out for each other. Here, we do what we can to remember the old ways.
obviously, a lot of things have been lost. not being able to openly practice your religion in the face of your persecution is something we consider to be an act of cultural genocide for a reason. that said, i think there's good evidence here that a lot of things, while their original context might be obscured by time, have remained as part of the alienages' traditions since the fall of the dales. here's an excerpt from the vhenadahl codex, the last one we have from hahren sarethia:
Mostly the old ways are gone. Each generation forgets a little more of the old tongue, a little more of the traditions. And the few things we keep become simple habits, the meaning long since faded.
they might appear to be simple habits, but i'd imagine there are a lot of things that are a part of alienage culture that would be foreign to the humans living in the cities, but would be recognisable to dalish elves walking among them!

replaying origins properly for the first time since dav is funny because people really did point to alistair's whedonisms and comic relief moments as proof that the dialogue has always been silly / bad / anachronistic. and i always thought hm yeah i guess there IS the licking the lamppost in winter dialogue so whatever. but like. 90% of the time alistair does actually speak like someone from thedas and not like a zillenial doing a storytime on tiktok.

And now im ending it where it began. Elven warden my beloved.
I also call this my "super tragic worldstate" bc. Well. Its all SUPER tragic. Tabris dies, sole survivor hawke, Ali boy sacrificed, etc. excited to see how and where all the shit can go wrong.
#hawke and inqy are also secret blood mages bc i said so#tabris and thorne however comma are leary as hell about it#i also keep making hard asses who use humor to deflect. always ending up being a purple/red blend lmaooo
