The area around Stolac bas been settled for at least 15,000 years, as evidenced by the markings in Badanj Cave, which experts have dated 12,000 - 16,000 BCE. Three kilometers west of Stolac is an impressive stećak necropolis dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries: Radimlja.

Bihac.
For more than a hundred years, the defenders of Bihac resisted Ottoman attacks, but in 1592, their defense was broken, and Bihac was captured. Bihac became one of the most important strongholds of the westernmost province of the Ottoman Empire, from which further attacks were planned for the push west.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day is a holiday in Bosnia and Herzegovina, celebrated every November 25th. On that day in 1943, at the first session of ZAVNOBiH in Mrkonjić Grad, the Resolution of ZAVNOBiH was adopted, which expressed the determination of the people of BiH that their country be a fraternal community in which full equality of all and equality of the Republic of BiH will be ensured. within the Yugoslav federation, with historical boundaries dating back to medieval Bosnia.
