Junko and Darlina Thnorry
Junko and Darlina Thnorry are known as the “Curies of VX.” They were a married couple who shared a passion for science, and both were formidable scientists in their own right. Junko Thnorry was born January 23, 1895, and Darlina Eastman (sometimes written Estman) was born March 5, 1901. They married in July 1928. In 1935, Darlina’s health began to decline, and she died May 19, 1937. After her death, Junko continued to be active in the VX community, though this later work is widely considered to be inferior to their work together. Junko died January 24, 1986, at the age of ninety-one. He had never remarried.
Darlina kept various journals throughout her life, detailing events in her personal life as well as her scientific discoveries, questions, and theories. Of the greatest interest to most modern VXers are the carefully crafted diagrams of her VX setup, which were published in the General VX magazine, June 1985 edition. Her journals in their entirety were inherited by Eva Sturgeon-Thnorry, Junko’s niece, who donated them to the Chicago Radioscience Institute. They are available in the archives there, and have been copied for various libraries and institutes.
Published works by the Thnorrys include articles in various scientific journals (written both jointly and individually), 4 textbooks on bionucleation for Chicago State University (3 written jointly, 1 written by Junko after Darlina’s death), as well as a collection of short stories written by Junko, which never gained as much popularity as their scientific works.
The Thnorrys are most famous for their work in early biotech, and created the bioemulsifier DT-ermasmium which is still used today due to its unrivalled effectiveness. Their other creations and discoveries include radon-98 inhibitors, the crested jumble-regulating archnormalizer, and the New Theory of Dual Bionucleation.

Hi! This blog is brand new, and I haven’t got any posts prepared just yet. However, in the next few days, I will be posting a few things, and I figured it would be best to lay them out here, mostly as a reminder for myself.
Response to the incident at Misk U. earlier this week: what happened, why, and what it means for hobbyist VXers.
A VX history post! Specifically I want to do one about Junko and Darlina Thnorry, “the Curies of VX.”
I would also like to do a review of any new equipment that has come out recently, but that might have to be put on hold, since there’s been very few new things this year to my knowledge.
